We ate in the restaurant and the place doesn’t seem clean and up to standard. The menus are just sheets of white paper and when you see the prices which I would say are extremely over priced, you hope the food is at least very good. However our food was not good at all, bland, stodgy and wet and couldn’t eat most of it. The service was also poor: slow and unprofessional. Won’t return again which is a shame as there is potential to have a great spot for dining due to the location and views.

Really good food if you want simple honest food. Worth giving the restaurant another try if you’ve been avoiding it for the past number of years. They are trying to make a fresh start with a new menu and deserve to be busier than they are. I’m sure it will only improve and I for one will be supporting them.

We stayed in the York for a few days and feel it is a 3 star and not 4, the room and bathroom was clean and we had fresh towels every day , cleaning staff were nice. No breakfast available, we had to walk about 10 mins for breakfast , the food in the Ochas Tapas bar was excellent but it only opens from Wednesday onwards. Main issue for us was that the elevator was not working (it was hidden? / blocked off? By very large chair ) it appears that this is not a new problem, when I asked about this I was told it was an ongoing problem, we struggled with suitcases up to the first floor where bedrooms were , via a very narrow staircase. I have checked hotel website and nothing highlighted about elevator not working or no breakfast available.

12 of us booked for dinner this evening as Tides refused our custom as they dont take large parties anymore apparently?? Their loss! Food options are great and very tasty - Peri Peri Chix Burger is delish! Restaurant and menu makeover is lovely - only negative is was slightly chilly with air con. 5 kids in our party and our waitress was fab and very patient with them - great girl! Service good - drinks a little slow but working in hospitality myself I totally advocate patience and understanding in current climate - staff are working harder than ever and doing their best and the staff here are great! Our waitress accidentally dropped a plate and was so upset but recovered well - accidents happen and no one died!!?? Thanks you guys - lovely experience on our last night together 😊

Myself, hubby and our fur baby 🐕 stayed here and from start to finish was spot on, we stayed in one of the seafront balcony rooms and the view was breathtaking. We had a lovely meal in the restaurant . We will definitely return. I have to say Neill is a true gentleman. Thanks.

Went for lunch today at the York …. Prices hiked for north west. Could have bought a weeks groceries for the price we paid for lunch. We weren’t the only ones complaining either. Don’t waste your time or your money. Staff were nice tho

Visited Easter Tuesday with family, car park and restaurant was empty and cold. Service for drinks and food was very slow and menu items were listed with sides that weren’t actually available, waitress failed to inform us of this when we ordered and no apology or attempt to rectify was made by management. Eg salmon came with mash instead of “crispy baby potatoes” ordered a side of chips instead and was still charged for both. Same with the lemon tart, no raspberry sorbet as listed and waitress just said “no” when asked about this. Overpriced and disappointing.
