My family (2 adults and two kids ages 11 and 13) stayed at the Villa Towers, the secondary building belonging to Canto del Sol, in a spacious suite with 2 bedrooms, a living room, and kitchenette. The kids even had their own double beds in their shared room, and their own ensuite! We had our own master with ensuite bathroom and king sized bed! I was not anticipating having two bathrooms and it was great, lol. Our building was quieter than the busier main building, which I liked, as it was away from the main pool and bar where they played loud pop/dance music all day. Perfectly fine for a lively time but maybe not so great if you wanted an afternoon nap. Our suite was on the older side with some wear and tear showing, but everything was perfectly clean and well maintained. We didn't mind this at all and felt it gave the place more character. The beds were super comfortable and our whole family loved it. Additionally, the all inclusive part was amazing and were wowed by the helpfulness/friendliness of the staff and quality of food served at all meals, including the snack bars like the cevicheria. We had tried some local fare outside the resort but felt our hotel's food was just as good or even better! It's probably no wonder that Canto del sol is regarded as "the Mexican resort"; seemed like 40-50% of the guests were nationals, which we thought was a plus. On the subject of food, we made reservations at the Mexican, Japanese, and Surf & Turf restaurants. We absolutely loved the Mexican restaurant - O M G it was good - and the staff were so so amazing. Our waiter Alejandro was so welcoming, attentive, and funny. Sadly, when we tried the Japanese restaurant, we were utterly disappointed by the tuna sushi and sashimi dishes as they were not palatable at all (judging by even the lowest of Vancouver standards!). For that reason, we decided to change our last reservation for a second visit to the Mexican restaurant and were glad we did! Apart from the stellar food, the vibe there is just so much more friendly and festive. We also got Alejandro again, which made our last night just perfect! Overall, we loved Canto del sol and would totally stay there again! Last note: Canto is in the hotel zone, which makes it close to downtown and walkable to shops and other restaurants, and makes getting a city taxi a cinch: a big plus compared to staying in more remote areas like Nuevo Vallarta.
