There aren't a lot of hotels in the Auburn area and I remember this one from the time I worked in the area, as it was originally built as a King Oscar Hotel. We got a good rate and spent three nights here. Was told it was converted from a Quality Inn to a Comfort Inn & Suites just this past August. The place is up-to-date, with modern furnishings in the rooms and lobby. The rooms are good-sized, plenty of room to move about and relax. I really do not like cramped hotel rooms, so this one was excellent. Check in was fast and friendly. COVID-19 protocols in place, so no coffee station in the lobby and breakfast is pretty much pre-packaged. In our travels it is interesting to see how each property handles these things during the pandemic. The only complaint I have is the wi-fi drops off every few hours and one has to repeatedly log on. It did this while I was on a Zoom meeting on my laptop and I had to quickly switch to my phone so I could continue. One of my hotel pet peeves is that if you offer wi-fi, it should be fully operational because so many of your clients have come to depend on it for their business and informational needs while staying on your property. I would suggest this get brought up with the provider to come up with a solution. Within walking distance there are a couple of fast-food places, an AM/PM gas station and mini mart, and a teriyaki place. Only a couple of miles north to the Outlet Collection Mall, and a couple of miles east to an Albertson's. Near many of the South Auburn/Algona/Pacific industrial areas (including Boeing Fabrication). Noise level is actually not bad, considering the site is next to the SR167 Valley Freeway. We had a 3rd floor room, did not really notice much in the way of outside noise (well, except for the guy who fired up his ultra-bass car sound system in the parking lot!). You could use this place as a jumping-off point for a lot of area travel.

Let me start by saying I’m going into this review a little miffed. In my 40+ years of traveling, I’ve never had a hotel or motel tell me I can’t use my reward points. But in this case, I was told the points can only be used for “Standard Rooms” and all their standard rooms were booked. So I went ahead and paid for a … non-standard room???. Well, I got to my room and guess what - it was just a standard motel room. There was absolutely nothing special or deficient with this room. With that said and out of the way, here are the positive aspects of my stay. The facility is somewhat new and it was clean (the bleach smell hung heavy in the air). The staff was courteous, but not necessarily friendly. The bed was medium firm and there were plenty of pillows. The free breakfast was pretty good. Within 150 feet from the hotel there were two restaurant … the food at the Pho restaurant was really good. Now for some downsides … (1) for all you light sleepers, this was a noisy motel. Even though we were in a room on the backside of the motel facing an empty lot, we could still hear the nearby traffic noise. Additionally, we could hear guests talking in their room and hallway. We could also hear the footsteps from the floor above us. (2) this motel is located in a not so nice location of Tacoma … they even lock the front lobby doors after certain hours, so you need to use your room key card to enter the lobby and to operate the elevator. Connected to the noise issue … I did hear a couple of gun shots at about 3 AM.

We spent the night because we were visiting the University of Puget Sound, and it was a convenient location. The room fit our needs, but I don’t think I could stay for more than one night. It’s really basic here - including their restaurant. Dinner menu was the typical pizza and stuff, and breakfast was stuff that they thawed out and heated. One easy thing they could do is require a dress code at their restaurant, because frankly restaurant employees wearing T-shirts just doesn’t seem professional. The room itself was ok - bed, basic flat screen TV, small but functioning bathroom with a shower curtain. The shower water seeped to the bathroom floor with water, but easy enough to wipe up… Just not excited about this place.

The hotel makes it so that one cannot stream to the tv. We did ask about it. The pool was supposed to be heated. All else very good. Place looks in good shape, painted, two elevators. Breakfast was fine. We had 409 king bed. Plenty of room, plenty of outlets. Good size mini-fridge. Roomy bathroom. Good water pressure. I would stay here again. The issues are simply First World minor complaints. Housekeeping available everyday. That's good. Located next to freeway. Some rooms may be loud.

This property needs help. Check in went OK I suppose. Was handed keys with a sticky note with my room number, as they were out of key sleeves. I checked in to my room and noticed it definitely needed an upgrade. Stale, mildew-y smell. I went to put out the ”Do Not Disturb” sign, to find there wasn't one. Went back to the front desk and was told they had none. Pillows on the bed are quite flat, foam type and don't offer any support. Bed was OK overall. Shower head sprayed water in several directions despite adjusting. Breakfast (if you can even call it that) was a sad affair. Styrofoam flavored half circle pre-made egg things, and the greasiest pork sausage on earth. No hard boiled eggs. No fruit cups. Sign up for gluten free options, and there were none available. No napkins out anywhere. Breakfast staff seemed lost and confused. Sign up for build-your-own French Toast, and there was none to build. 3 sad apples were the only fruit offering, and I would not feed them to a horse. There appears to be a chocolate milkshake (or worse) spilled all over the outdoor carpeting just outside the rooms on the 2nd level. Landscape is shaggy with half-mowed grass and an unkept appearance. Internet works, but is slow. I'm a Diamond Select member with BW, and even with my ”discounted rate” it was still over $130 + tax just for a single. They refer to this as a ”historic” property, but they need to definitely improve its appearance. If I was the owner of this property, I'd be ashamed.

I would not advise booking this property especially if you are a business traveller. Checked in 07/05 for two nights. Went to the room attempted to connect on wifi and no luck. I went down and they told me it is currently down and “AT&T” is coming to fix it. A couple of hours later I see a bunch of kids in the lobby and the person at the front desk is trying to “fix” the kids phones. Wi-fi these days are critical and considering the hotel’s network was fine and the computer in the business center was working my guess is they turned it off deliberately. The whole two days no fix and at checkout no apology. The room itself was satisfactory but if you have work to do go somewhere else.

This room was well set up and immaculate. The area was good and near the SeaTac airport, plenty of parking and the breakfast was a great bonus! Service at the counter was fast and professional. I have traveled to the Northwest for years and I must say, this was the best value and really one of the nicest rooms I have had the pleasure of staying at. You know the old story. If a deal seems too good - watch out. The price of a room at this motel was very competitive considering its 4 star rating. So I went for it. The room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. I guess those are the important aspects of a one-night stay. If you can overlook the dangerously worn out bathroom light switch, the almost impossible to use bath tub faucet valve, the very loose toilet seat and the loose as a goose vanity faucet the room was a good value. Besides all that the building itself is old and not in good repair. For example, we used the stairs and the coving was either falling off or missing. Hey the TV worked great.

Convenience location. Checked in was fast and easy. Nelly, the receptionist was friendly and helpful. Hotel is kinda outdated. It has swimming pool, however. Room was clean and bed was comfortable. AC was cool. No USB plugs though. If you stay more than 2 nights, housekeeper would knocked on door to ask if you need room to be cleaned, otherwise, they just replaced dirty towels or pickup trash. My biggest complaint was disposable utensils and breakfast choices. Very poor quality. Like other travelers commented on cheapest, flimsy utensils I have ever seen. Bread and Bagels didn't refill as needed, and it's just 7:30am. Not much of pastries or fruits either. Will choose other places next time when I'm in town.

GGuest UserThis was a great surprise. This hotel is new, located in a very popular area, with lots of good restaurants near by. The room is spacious, very clean. They offer a laundry room for guests which ended up great for us to do laundry as we went from one national park to another. Customer service was very friendly as we did the check in. WiFi was the best so far in our room. A great place to stay if you are in the area, or in between national parks.
GGuest UserNice, decent, clean hotel with breakfast included and free parking. About 10 minute walk from Washington State Fairgrounds, while downtown Puyallup with restaurants and bars is about 20-25 minutes walk or a short drive. Rooms and bathrooms aren't the most modern but everything was very clean and comfortable. I was happy to get a room overlooking the trees (the other 3 sides of the hotel overlook either the parking lot or road). So I had a nice quiet stay. Staff are quite friendly and efficient (although they had a big line up of water bottles at the front desk and when I asked for one she said oh there's water bottles in the room, not mentioning that they are $4 each. If the water bottles at front desk are only reserved for top tier elite Bonvoy members maybe they should hide them out of the way, in my opinion, but that's just a minor point!)
GGuest UserSad pool was closed due to Covid but understand there is nothing that they can do about it. Breakfast was decent given the restrictions due to Covid. I booked 2 rooms. One room had a shower “poof” for body wash left over from the person who had the room before us so I’m worried that the room wasn’t cleaned as it should’ve been. In the other room I noticed the complimentary blow dryer was dirty. It had hair stuck to it and the holder was kind of dirty. The room also smelled like grandmas perfume. Just worried again that the room wasn’t cleaned as it should’ve been. And that’s even more important now because of Covid. Think there should be good discounts on rooms since the amenities weren’t available due to the pandemic. Also breakfast is “included” in price. But since you are unable to enjoy the good buffet style breakfast due to Covid I believe the price of the rooms should be adjusted to reflect these things.
FF1071QTmaryaMy family and I stayed here a little while. During our time there we paid our bill on time, paid our balance in full, and had no complaints. Upon leaving, we were charged incorrectly and we were quick to work with our bank to put a stop to avoid further charges. They still tried though. We went ahead and made some disputes with our Navy Federal Bank and they are handling it high up in fraud. The biggest concern is getting a print out of each transaction and seeing some very sketchy credits never applied that indicate we had a credit that we forfeited. We also had late fee charges that they placed in and than balances, I am an auditor and I even could not make anything add up. This too is being looked into. It goes all the way back to when Johnny, property manager, started working. It went from room charge ea day and the amount and than payment to charges and credits and forfeited balances and all these weird codes and what is more is that the rates change yet we paid a certain amount...We also filed with the BBB and informed the district manager. Concerning to have someone make the billing so different from the previous manager. if theft is proven we are filing charges. I do not recommend staying here at all. Not for a week and not for longer. The housekeepers and Janet are wonderful though! Ashley and Janet were great! Johnny is also very disrespectful towards women. He is condescending and unprofessional though he does have a kind side. I feel that he needs to be reviewed to ensure things are properly ran. What frosted the cake for us mainly was that they accepted the people placed on a ”house arrest” program during covid. He accepted a whole bunch of jail birds and they all had ankle monitors, police officers, probation, and a few other people who were very sketchy and it became unsafe quick. The lack of running this place safely, clean, professional, and honest makes this place less than desirable. Johnny was also extremely rude to his housekeepers and maintenance man, Mike. Mike and Housekeeping helped keep everyone neutral since Johnny has a quick temper and cant seem to separate personal and business aspects in much of anything....I would recommend elsewhere and I hope that he is reviewed by the owner. I push for resolutions. Also they do not keep the rooms vacant between guests.
