I could not sit anywhere without cigarette smoke blowing in my face. all of my clothes smelled like smoke the entire time. one day it was raining and most guests stayed indoors. I tried to hang out on the roof top and the porch on first floor, but the smoke was unbearable. I stayed in my room most of the day. my partner developed a cough and very dry eyes from smoke irritation. it was so bad we searched for new accommodation. while the hostel staff cannot control behavior this review is a warning for non smokers and those with asthma. also people slamming doors, playing terrible music late into the night and yelling at midnight. mattress was stained yellow and room smelled like mildew. everything looked and felt dirty. if you are 18 and chain smoke then this hostel is perfect for you. staff were friendly and helpful.

We stayed here for a bit and one employee in particular went above and beyond and through a window for us. We just want to thank Werner for his help this week, he was fantastic and helped us in a time of need. The place itself is fine, all employees are very friendly

One of the top 5 hostels I’ve stayed in. Pros: location feels safe and cars have to pass through a gate, lockers to lock your things in the entryway if you arrive early but want to drop your things, clean common and bedroom spaces, privacy curtain, controllable AC unit in room, roomy storage you can lock, private bathroom in 6br female room, add-on breakfast, ATM machine convenience, front desk staff is available and attentive, lots of activity options (at a cost), including a nye party on the beach w another hostel Cons: I am used to a towel service being included, but I ended up paying 10 brl to rent one which was not a huge inconvenience. I would have preferred a towel included and the option to rent one for beach use.

Staff were amazing! Helpful and friendly. Can arrange airport transfer for you. They all spoke English very well. There is a common area downstairs with a bar and free filtered water and lots of plugs to charge your electronics. The bunk beds were a little scary, very unstable. You only get two sheets and a pillow case so if you get a free blanket on your airline keep it! There is one plug in each bed spot. Rooms are air conditioned. It was a little expensive for a shared room with bunk beds but it is an excellent location.

Great for remote work, comfortable rooms with air conditioner, super friendly staff, and safe location. You will make a lot of friends for sure, and there are many travelers who stay for long and volunteer. You can work remotely in the living room with many tables or on the rooftop with more sunlight. And you can go around easily with the subway nearby and this street even has a security guard.

I received a very warm welcome in the middle of the night after a long journey from the UK. Staff very helpful, great atmosphere in the bar and lovely rooftop terrace. I loved that it is basically on the edge of the jungle with birds and monkeys visiting. Will stay there again when in Rio.

One of the worst hostel rooms I've ever seen. Smelt of damp, walls and mattress were absolutely filthy. Sheets were paper thin and stained. The room I was provided with had 0 space whatsoever. As soon as I checked in and saw the state of the room I asked to be moved to a different room. I was happy to pay whatever price difference there was but was told no other room was available for the duration of my stay. I booked a private room that was available for a few days and requested a refund of the remaining balance. I was told someone would contact me to discuss this. I waited a week and received 0 calls or emails. I called and emailed multiple times, and after it was clear I wouldn't be receiving any response I resigned myself to this review. The staff are friendly enough but I wouldn't rebook this hostel again if it was the only option in rio. The bonus was the ants everywhere in the private room and the lack of courtesy to get back to me on my partial refund request.

We were only 3 in room for 6, the shower and toilet was great and clean… air conditioning was amazing!!! We got welcome drinks at the bar… The vibes was 😊 thank you for amazing time!!!!!!!!! Definitely be back 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Hostel itself was nice, really clean and comfy. Showers were really weak and either scolding hot or freezing so couldn’t use them properly but the location made up for it. 5 minute walk to the beach… however what really let the hostel down was the noise. From drunken guests I can only assume but not impressed with the hostel not even attempting to do anything about it. There are big signs plastered around the reception saying how there is a ‘noise law’ and charges will be made if there is noise after 10pm. But on a Sunday night when guests were blasting music through a speaker and screaming drunk till 2am or when guests came in drunk at 6am and sat outside smoking and drinking (right underneath our bedroom) the hostel just did not care. Really let our experience down.
