Hotel de la Plage

We don't rate friends, we celebrate them. With an optimal promenade location, a cheerful and helpful staff, attractive rooms, secure parking and a decent if not exceptional breakfast, all at fair value, we would gladly return here. Small, family owned and run hotels are, for us, far more enjoyable, than a big name venue no matter how luxurious. In the way of constructive criticism, their wifi is rather intermittent and they really should have at least one English language television channel. As in French hotels, the bathroom lighting is twilight. We are also frustrated with a mini closet with hangar bars at a suitable height for elementary school students. In many ways, they have the best location in town. More importantly, you feel like you belong.

Great staff and special thanks to Mehdi for the extra help during check in. Room was very clean and beautiful ocean front room. Bed was very comfortable and you can see the ocean when you wake up. Walkable to all the good restaurants, 10min walk to train station. I will definitely be back soon!

Excellent location , warm & efficient welcome , nice , modern & comfortable room with sea view . Although difficult access due to works in the area . At the front desk Mehdi who answered all our questions & more . Pierre , the owner was also informative .

An excellent stay and what a great team at the hotel. We loved our sea view room and slept in too late to enjoy breakfast both mornings. Totally recommend this fabulous hotel! There is nothing like the sound of the sea whilst you sleep. Thanks also for looking after our motorbike and all of our luggage 🙏

Amazing hotel. Perfectly situated right on the beach, walking distance to everything in town. Clean, well managed, friendly. Everything needed is taken care for. We had a room with a balcony and loved it. If you are in this part of the world, this hotel is the place to stay. Saint Jean-de-Luz is also a great town. We visited Biarritz, Bayonne and San Sebastián with day visits from here. We had a car and all these cities are within an half hour drive. One day we even drove to Bilbao to see the Guggenheim. A bit a long drive but was worth it. We will certainly stay here again if we ever come back to Basque Country. ( I hope we will )

We stayed at Hotel de la Plage for 5 nights as part of a Spain/France/Netherlands vacation. We were there in early September and it was unseasonably hot. We were very thankful for the air conditioning on a couple of the hot afternoons. The room was large and comfortable with gorgeous views from glass doors opening to the balcony. We spent a lot of time relaxing on the chaise or sitting around the table enjoying the sights and sounds . The breakfast room was inviting with a tasty selection of food and good coffee to start the day. We had been traveling for a couple of weeks and were delighted to have our laundry taken care of for a very nominal amount. The staff was always cheerful and helpful. We would love to stay at Hotel de la Plage again on a future trip.

One of the oldest hotels in town and perfectly located on the beach. Walking distance to everything in town and to the trail along the cliffs. Excellent breakfast with a view over the water. No restaurant but you can order wine and other beverages at the reception if you want to have a drink. Note that there are plenty of restaurants nearby. The top floor was added a few years ago and has all the largest rooms.

Our room had one of the most stunning views we have ever experienced. If the weather was too cold to sit outside we could still see the beautiful ocean, seaside, and surfers in the water. In addition, the two gentlemen at the reception desk were extremely friendly and helpful. They easily communicated in English, which was helpful. The location is perfect for walks along the seashore and into the restaurant and shopping area.

I stayed here Oct 4-6, 2022. I found this lovely hotel when I read Rick Steves book on the Basque region of Spain/France. The staff is incredible, I have never had such helpful staff at any hotel I have stayed at in my European travels, they are indeed an asset to this hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful and very comfortable. I had a room facing the sea with a balcony too. It was so nice and relaxing to sit and watch sea and beach with fresh air. The bed was very comfortable and after 2 weeks of traveling throughout the area it was great to get some rest. The breakfast was good and had a sea view as well. I did leave my patio door open at night and mosquitos bit me, in the morning I found approx 6 mosquitos in my room. I do not blame the hotel however that was my fault. Mehdi was very helpful throughout my stay and always provided tips on shopping for wine too. He even was able to schedule a taxi for my departure at 6am however the poor taxi was late because of some accident, another taxi did arrive later at 6:15am. Thank you all at Hotel La Plage! I will definitely stay here again some day.
