I am writing a review for the restaurant only as I have not stayed in their rooms. Upon arriving at The Lambs Inn UK LTD, Great Rissington, our anticipation for a delightful dining experience quickly dissolved into frustration and disappointment. We had booked a table for two people at 7 30 pm today. Once seated on the outside benches, it took them ages to come and take our order although I was told that one of the waiters would come and take our order soon. Finally after 20 minutes, when nobody bothered to come and take the order, I myself went inside to the reception desk and ordered the food. Our hopes for a redeeming meal were further dashed when I wanted to make another order at around 8:05 pm but discovered that the kitchen had inexplicably closed earlier today (although we were told that the kitchen closes at 8 30 pm, at the time of the telephonic reservation.) This unexpected turn left us with limited options and a sense of being unwelcome guests in an establishment that should have prided itself on hospitality. It was clear that customer satisfaction was not a priority. In conclusion, our experience can only be described as a letdown from start to finish. From the delayed service to take order to the premature kitchen closure, it was a night that fell far short of our expectations. We cannot in good conscience recommend this establishment to others, as it failed to deliver on the most basic elements of a pleasant dining experience.

I did not stay here but my son and I enjoyed an excellent meal. The nicest steak I have ever eaten, and I am from Australia ! Beautiful hotel, incredibly quaint and full of character, so rich in history. We had a fabulous evening. Highly recommended.

This was our fourth visit to the Lamb and we were not disappointed. We were given a lovely 3 night break here as a Christmas present by our daughter who knew how much we had enjoyed our previous visits. Although the weather was foul the log fires burned brightly in the fireplaces of the bar and residents' lounge. We ate twice in the bar and had lunch in the restaurant when our friends, who live quite nearby, joined us for a lovely meal. The menu changes regulalrly and the same food is available in dining room and bar. Our room was comfortable and warm and the staff were as always very friendly and helpful.

So far the experience is not that good. We flew from Spain to come to this exact bar/hotel as we visited her with work 5 years ago. I didn’t like the way the food was cooked so had to ask for it to be changed and the manager of the restaurant came out pretty aggressively to argue with me on how it was cooked. We have two more night so I will report back after this one. So far we are very disappointed.

Great location. Cosy and lovely character. Great breakfast and dinner. But what really stood out for me was the service from all the staff. Especially the receptionist. Would stay again. I stay away many times per month (many with more stars and more expensive) and of the last 20, this was the only place I was asked if I had had an enjoyable stay.

This was the most overpriced hotel we have ever stayed in. The staff were rude, with the exception of one, and the food was acceptable. The room was up a steep staircase that resembled a ladder and the room carpet was stained and it hadn’t been cleaned to an acceptable standard. The bar was dirty and the window blinds were either missing or crooked with cobwebs in the corners.

We booked a table for a birthday celebration for Saturday night , a cold welcome to a table which I could not access the chair.. as it was push up against the near table ..I pulled the whole table and chair out so we could both sit down. We ordered the trout and a bottle of Chablis.. the waitress put the ice bucket in the middle of our small table with bottle already open ..not shown the bottle or opened at the table or poured !!! I asked could I have a cloth for the bottle as it was dripping water on to the table as I poured our wine . The trout was served to the table ..it was so over cooked it was bone dry ..I sent it back.. the waitress said she so sorry and agreed that it looked terrible, they offered me a replacement but with the very poor service and no cooking skills in the kitchen it was a NO from me. they offered a refund for my over cooked dry trout, the manager had agreed to this ...as I was told by the embarrassed waitress.. the manager was far to busy throwing away all the profits in the bin to come and see us at the table . This café could become a great restaurant but requires a turnaround as I am still waiting for the bread we ordered to accompany our staters . Do not recommend due to poor service from the whole team. 😒

Very friendly staff. Nice and quiet pub with good food and open fire. Would definitely stay again.
