Hotels near Iglesia Santa Maria del Mar in Salou

On Oct 22th, 2023 we were supposed to check in at the Best Da Vinci hotel. Having a free cancellation till 20.10, we wrote to the e-mail in advance about geting a room on the top floor. However, there was no response. At the time of check-in we were offered a room on the 3rd floor out of 6, we asked for a higher floor. We were told that they would try to help us, then we would have to wait. When we came to the reception after 1.5 hours, another employee said that there were no rooms on the 6th floor, come back on Tuesday (24.10). After about 20 minutes we decided to come to the reception, by that time the first employee already came back. They said that since the hotel closes its season on 28.10, rooms on the upper floors won't be available (although people continued to live on the upper floors till closing date 28.10), also they said that our room category was a standard room, not a studio and here are no standard rooms above the 3rd floor. We could pay extra for the room on higher floor, but it was suggested by SENIOR RECEPTIONIST in a rude manner to take the room on the 3rd floor and be satisfied with that. Disappointed we left, but the next day we decided to try our luck again because we saw people on the upper floors getting checked in. On 23.10 having approached to another employee, she answered that the change of rooms is carried out from 12 to 15 and left to specify something. Having returned back with a SENIOR employee, who was dissatisfied that we came again loudly saying ”AGAIN???”, she repeated that the number above the 3rd floor won't be given and if you DO NOT like something, PACK YOUR BAGS AND LEAVE FOR EXAMPLE TO THE NEIGHBOURING MAGNOLIA HOTEL. At the same time we were ready to pay extra just to get a room on the top floor, but nothing was not offered to us, but simply sent us away. For the first time in all our travels we were shocked by the rudeness of front desk employees, absolutely not interested (especially the SENIOR receptionist). Money doesn't matter, you can't pay and take what you want, you need to live in the room dedicated to you. In addition, we got the impressed that they do not speak English well and are more kind to Spanish-speakers. About the room itself, it's nice. But if you got a room in the main building, then be prepared that in rooms where the beds are near the window overlooking the yard, will be very noisy in the morning, because you can hear the slamming doors from ALL sides and from ALL floors. Pros: nice studios, good housekeeping, good food. Cons: rudeness and unprofessionalism of the SENIOR receptionist, noise in rooms because of poor noise insulation, no towels for the beach available.

I don't even know where to start this review. all ”no way”. the fact that this is a 4 star hotel is out of the question! booked a suite. the room size is tiny as usual standard in a 4 star hotel. the woman who cleans the rooms constantly pounded on the door and demanded that we leave, as she does not have time to wait for us to leave, as she needs to leave🤦‍♀️ as a result, the room was not cleaned even once in 3 days. the pool is small, it smells strange and there are 2 sun loungers😂😂😂 there is not a single soul in the pool area. the hotel is positioned as a gastronome. breakfast is generally some kind of horror, photos are attached. there is no choice at all. 3-4 plates of an incomprehensible dish and that's it! before that we stayed at the Blaumar hotel, did not like it very much, friends advised me to try this one - the Blaumar result was very good 😂😂😂. of the pros: reception staff respond quickly, ready to help, close to the embankment, convenient parking

We found the hotel to be very suitable for us as it was lovely quiet, very relaxing with lots of mature palm trees and great swimming pools. All the noisy attractions very nearby so there is something for everyone. Food was good too just the waiting time to come in to the restaurant and the fact that you had to finish eating within less than an hour was annoying. But even though we would come back. We would love if the other restaurant which was not included in the half board meal option started opening from lunch time so customers could buy nice lunch inside the resort instead of looking somewhere else most of the days. There is food at the pool bar but not much choice.

Clean hotel, a bit old but it fulfills the functions I needed. I went to Port Aventura and it was close by, and much cheaper than those in Salou.

The hotel is located between Taragona and Salo, close to the main theme park of Adventure Port and Ferrari Theme Park, 5 minutes drive. Clean and beautiful environment and comfortable sleep. There are many special restaurants downstairs.

The Salou Beach is a beautiful 4-star hotel, close to the beach and the very animated centre of Salou, with numerous restaurants and shops, and a very beautiful walk from the dale, decorated with large trees and flowers, along the beach. The hotel is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility and accepts animals, with a small amount (€12). The rooms are very pleasant, with a really comfortable bed, a set and a private terrace with a table and chairs (it is better to ask for a room giving on the pool, it is quieter). The hotel is very comfortable and comfortable and is very comfortable. The staff is charming and the reception is very warm. In conclusion, we strongly recommend this hotel!

Part of why we did not enjoy this holiday was not the hotel’s fault. Pineda is a town that permanently STINKS of sewage. The stench ranges from suspecting the townsfolk of having a secret egg-boiling and peeling fetish to downright medieval. It is also industrial. There is blue sea, but the entire sun-sparkling horizon is taken up with hundreds of factories and cargo ships. Very urban with hotels and apartment buildings everywhere. The sea front is lined with the cheapest and tackiest shops possible. No charm to be found anywhere unless cigarette butts and dog poo everywhere is your thing. The hotel: food on the whole ok. It turned out our booking included full board but no drinks as we had thought (except in the restaurant). The more expensive all inclusive option is not worth paying 10€/day/person for (adults and children included) as the only palatable alcohol was the lager. The wine and cocktails were undrinkable. The fruit was never ripe enough to eat so it looked like a good selection but wasn’t. Table service terrible. If you choose to eat at the outside tables, no one will ever give you cutlery or serviettes. Good luck finding spoons or bowls; when they’re gone they’re gone. You can only have a lager if someone serves you but there is not always someone to serve. Glasses often dirty. No trays so you can’t get food and a drink at the same time meaning you constantly have to get up and you will never eat with everyone in your group at the table. Breakfast coffee you have to get yourself. Fruit « juice » is coloured sugared water and disgusting. The room cards constantly stopped working so we’d go to our rooms on the 3rd floor only to have to go down to reception again to get the card fixed. At least once per day per room. The hotel carpark is an extra 15€/day. Too small for cars made after 1970 and so pretty stressful to get in and out. You must be very good at 56-point turns in the dark. Add to that the carpark card that also stops working so you have to go all the way back to reception to the unapologetic staff who shrug and watch you walk another 5 minutes back to your car to re-attempt leaving. The VIP pool area is quite nice if you ignore the fact you’re surrounded by apartment blocks, but no one bothers to clean the pool properly so everything is a bit grubby. The main pool area forbids guests to reserve pool loungers but everyone does anyway so if you get to the pool after 11:30am you won’t get a lounger until about 7pm. The Spanish and French go for lunch and long afternoon naps but leave all their belongings on the loungers and the pool staff don’t care. Our two 12 year olds liked the pool games that were organised in the mornings and afternoons. There are pool tables (2€/game) & ping pong tables but having said that, there’s loads more for kids at any camp site we’ve ever been to. The evening entertainment is either in Spanish or French and one show in particular was totally inappropriate for children, with a 50 shades

3rd visit to this hotel 23rd Sept - 30th Sept & in our opinion we love this hotel. Fantastic sea view rooms with decent sized balcony, room & bathroom ample size & cleaned & towels changed daily. Location great, short walk to the beach which is literally across the road & a few minutes to all bars & shops. Reception, Dinning Room & Bar staff always friendly. Good choice of foods both in restaurant & at the snack bar. We generally use the pools between the 2 hotels as quieter & yes pools are cold but very welcoming in 31 degrees. Hotel Salou II is being used for asylum seekers, this may be a bit intimidating to some travellers but they did keep themselves to themselves & you've got to think that we could be slightly intimidating to them! All in all we have had a fantastic time & will be defiantly retuning for a 4th visit.

Where do I start….We visited El Paso around 9 years ago prior to having children with my family and we all had an excellent holiday! So I didn’t have any apprehensions about booking early this year to take my 2 children (3 & 1) . As it got closer to the time I saw some reviews and started to panic as we hadn’t had a bad word to say about the hotel but wondered had it gone down hill?? Needless to say we went with an open mind and there was no need for any worry at all!! One of the only reasons I haven’t given 5 stars was the check in. We arrived at 11am and check in took my husband around an hour (I think this was more other people maybe faffing around a bit as when he actually got to the counter he was there 5 minutes and it was done) but it took us 3 separate occasions of going up to ask if the room was ready at 3pm before we could actually get in. There are lockers you can put you’re luggage in for €10 but there was no way ours would of fit in 1 so we didn’t fancy spending €20 !! So we hung around the reception for 4 hours (a beautiful reception) but with 2 children we found we were having to juggle one person staying with the luggage and the other entertaining the children. Check in aside the rest of the holiday was all we could of asked for! Room : We had requested a quiet room and we had been put the other side of the pool away from all the bars which was perfect…the room was beautiful. Bunk beds for our 3year old which he loved (although the top bunk is not safe for a younger child as the side very easily comes off!) but this didn’t effect us as we had a cot for our 1 year old. The room has everything you would need for a holiday..storage, bathroom, comfy bed and a balcony. The only downside was there were a few schools visiting when we were there and they had placed them in the same block as us so it definatley wasn’t a quiet room ! You could hear the teachers trying to keep them quiet at 11pm at night but it’s not great when you have young children trying to sleep…maybe the hotel should have a separate block if they know they are going to have a lot of school children in??? Pool : the pool is a absolutley huge and very clean. The water is a perfect crystal blue! The pirate shop was a firm favourite for our little boy. Although they are a little strict with allowing sunglasses in the pool (you need them as it’s so bright haha!) the lifeguards make you feel very safe. There is a vast area of sand around the pool which is perfect for the children to play in….(actually made ours happy enough that he thought he’d been to the beach so we didn’t have to venture to Salou!) Food : I saw a lot of reviews with people complaining about the food. We didn’t have a problem at all. Yes it can be samey, but considering they have such a large demographic to cater for I think they do very well with what they do have! You can always find something to eat.
