Orchid House San Miguel de Allende

Everything was fine!

This is the first negative review I have ever written. I booked this hotel based on the reviews. I've stayed in Casa No Name, Casa 1810 and Concepcion hotels over the last few years. I always book directly with the hotel to avoid issues and it's better financially for the hotel, as my family works in hotel management. My stay was booked March 14-17th. Last night at 7:38 I got an email stating that my credit card was not working (not true) and they will have to cancel. One minute later at 7:39 I got an email stating that my booking was cancelled. No one called me. I got in touch with the hotel at 8:02 asking why they cancelled my stay. I offered for them to try the card again or take a new card. They replied that they already booked someone else and I should be happy that they weren't going to charge my card (hmmm I thought they said it wasn't working) the cancellation fee. In my many years of extensive travel I have never had a booking cancelled after receiving a confirmation. They made no offer for a future stay, only their very "generous" offer of not charging me for the cancellation. Buyer beware.

We had a great stay! Highly recommended. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have pretty good English language skills. The breakfast is amazing! Definitely try the chilaquiles with the green (verde) sauce. The only drawback is the noisy music on the weekends.

This charming bed & breakfast is very rustic with few amenities. It is very close to a rooftop bar & it’s incredibly noisy until 4am. This happens on Friday’s & Saturday’s which is the 2 days that we stayed. The lady that serves breakfast in the morning is a sweetheart. She’ll cook whatever you want. She makes staying there better. We will not be staying here again.

The house is in the very center of San Miguel. The place is very charming and comfy, beautifully renovated traditional mansion. A great choice.

The Orchid House is stunning; a true boutique hotel experience. The courtyards are tranquil, the rooms comfortable. The rainfall shower heads and constant hot water were an extra touch of luxury. We loved the family-style breakfast. The hotel is ideally located in the centro of San Miguel de Allende, in easy walking distance to the sites, bars and restaurants this charming town offer. Despite being in the middle of it all, the room was surprisingly quiet and peaceful, making for a great night’s rest (even during Dia de Muertos when we visited). The hosts were friendly and attentive. We would love to return!

Great and homey place to stay! The attention from the staff is superb, and it is so clean and pretty. It embodies Mexico really well. It also has a wonderful location. Stay here if you visit San Miguel!

Visually stunning, comfortable with very helpful and friendly staff

This is one of the most beautiful hotels we’ve ever stayed at. Everything from the decor, food, customer service was the best. We traveled with two young kids and they enjoyed the food and being able to explore. It was super clean and had everything we needed. We will 100% be back and tell our family and friends to stay here.
