The room price is clean and very good

You definitely get what you pay for- the rooms and grounds are remarkably clean and the bed is so comfy. We loved having Netflix available and the wifi is super fast. The only thing that was weird was that there seemed to be no staff- we checked in with a staff member using a virtual kiosk in the lobby. They were friendly and it was mostly easy to use, I would have just felt more comfortable knowing a staff member was on site if we were to have any issues. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay and would definitely stay here again!

Broken blinds let light through all night (from flickering outdoor light) and first thing in morning. If you stay in front portion of the Catrina, you will hear traffic noise all night long; it is unpleasant. Broken faucet handle for bathroom sink kept coming off every time it was used. The front office staff was very nice, however, and if they can fix some spound proofing and the blinds this would be a very solid stay.

I have stayed here twice and find this hotel to be a solid value. The location is great with public transit access, walkable to multiple dining neighborhoods as well as downtown San Mateo, and quite safe and quiet. The rooms have clearly had significant investment in remodeling and while it’s not high-end, I find it very clean with comfortable beds and nice amenities like fridges, coffee makers and microwaves. Can’t really ask for more if you want a solid value right in San Mateo.

None of the surfaces within the room were clean. The floors weren’t very clean. The refrigerator was very noisy as was the heater. . When I checked out the manager said he was sorry and would try to put me in a better room when I come back (like that will happen!).

Check in was very easy. Staff explained to me the door key process. The only 3 call outs were 1) the space between the sink and toilet was very small. I kept hitting my elbow against the sink. 2) the shower curtain could have been longer, I had a puddle just outside the curtain. 3) so many tv channels...could not find the ones I wanted such as kids channels.

The room had nice lighting, nice floors, nice bathroom, and refrigerator, digital door lock. Easy parking.

The place was fine for what I was doing and for the short time I was there, but there was no human contact other than the custodian that I saw once. The check in is done via computer, had to have my code re-set before being able to open the door.

The room was well cleaned. It was inconvenient that the reception was open only between 8am - 8pm.

Very modern and up to date with check in and sleekness of room. Single chair in room was filthy and bathroom tile needed serious cleaning.

Good service. Quirky decor. Rooms were clean. Pver all a pleasant stay.

Nice room with comfortable bed. Location good close to the center of San Mateo. However, no cleaning of the room in the 3 night stay. The receptionists were very nice. After hours there is a remote assistant which is kind of cool. However, the door to the reception is locked which makes the receptionist pointless as you can not access the room.

The room was non smoking but people were smoking in the courtyard. Ick.

The phones did not work and we weren’t given a code to the front fest door for after hours when needing the front desk/ staff attention which wasn’t convenient. Washer and dryer weren’t working and the bathroom wasn’t as clean as expected, overall it’s a fine place to sleep but will not be back, not as accommodating as advertised.
