Aloe Vera Shared House
4/58 Reviews

You get what you pay for. This was a cheap holiday and the hotel felt basic and outdated. The layout was confusing and dangerous, uneven surfaces, ramps and steps - avoid if you have young children. The apartment was clean and spacious although required refurbishment. There was room around the pools which was a bonus. Staff very helpful and let us have our room earlier than advertised check in - she was very pleasant. The shower was awful - a small trickle that was freezing one minute and then boiling hot with no notice. The location was perfect and we felt safe. We used the hotel as a base to just sleep in, wouldn’t recommend it if you wanted to spend your time there.
Hotel Riu Palace Tenerife
4.5/575 Reviews
We had previously stayed at the RIU Arecas and as much as we had enjoyed ourselves we decided to try the RIU Palace this time round. Our first impressions ( and they do count ) was of a well oiled machine. From the welcoming drink whilst sorting out the check in details to opening up our side sea view room and taking in the panorama we knew we would be very happy in the hotel. Luggage was brought up within a couple of minutes and allowed us to unpack before dinner. The range of food in the buffet was immense and I particularly enjoyed the range of fish on offer from sea bass ,lemon sole, hake , salmon etc and the salad bar was replenished continuously so no worry about limp lettuce ! The two speciality restaurants were included in the cost of the holiday and you just needed to book sharpish on arrival to get your preferred time and date. The Krystal restaurant was excellent and I can still conjure up the crab bisque and the intense flavour of it now. As good as any fine dining experience. The Spanish restaurant was equally as good and had a fine selection of dishes to choose from. Wine prices were priced right and we never felt that they were over the top. I was also delighted that I could use the swimming pools which were heated much better than the Arecas and so I had my swim each day. I will definitely return to this hotel knowing that it has very high standards and great staff who take care of your needs where nothing is too much trouble.
Royal River, Luxury Hotel
4.8/560 Reviews
This is an absolutely outstanding hotel with impeccable staff. If you are looking for peace, tranquility and stunning surroundings then this is the perfect hotel for you. Our room was the royal river room I believe it's the basic room, but when we walked in we felt like we'd arrived at a Maldivian island (we've visited there twice). The room was very large with a separate sitting room, double closing doors to the bedroom and then a double sink bathroom with a beautiful bath and rainfall shower. Outside there was a smallish pool similar to what you'd get in an over water villa in the Maldives, a gorgeous double bed, egg chair and corner sofa which we used in the evening for drinks. From our pool you could swim out to the river and take some amazing photos of the tree canopy covered river. They offer theme food nights we did the Asian and French nights both of which were incredible. But it is only a 5 min taxi ride to caleta where there are many other restaurants too. My husband had a small issue with hotel laundry with an expensive shirt however duty manager Daniella was incredibly professional, concerned and helpful she recompensed us for the cost of the shirt. And aside that in all our dealings with her she is clearly a real asset to this hotel. The only very slight comment is about the bathroom soap/shampoo dispensers they seem a bit cheap which was a complete surprise given that EVERY fitting in this hotel is clearly very expensive. It wasn't a problem just an observation. Thank you so much for our wonderful stay and we will most certainly be back.
Barcelo Santiago Hotel - Adults Only

Wow, what a great find Barceló Santiago was. Today is our last day of six at this hotel and it was brilliant. A little more pricey than others but well worth it. • Absolutely stunning views. It’s definitely worth a little extra for a sea view room. The feeling of walking into our room on Monday with the curtains shut and pulling them apart to reveal the view was the most amazing surprise. The cliffs of Los Gigantes are breathtaking and I couldn’t stop looking through the window. • Good location. There are a good number of shops and restaurants around the hotel. Not an overwhelming amount but good enough for us. Express supermarket just outside the hotel was handy, however the sun cream is so expensive there so if you run out, I’d suggest going to Lidl about 10 minutes up the hill where it isn’t overpriced. We liked walking toward the port of Santiago where there is a small beach and lots of shops and restaurants. It only takes 15-20 minutes and it’s not too hilly. You can also walk the other way towards La Arena which has many more restaurants, bars and shops and a larger beach. Just outside the hotel we visited Alfonso’s bar and Torreón which both do lovely food, we would recommend giving them a go. • Super clean and tidy. The hotel feels very new and the entire place is well kept. The cleaners do a wonderful job in the rooms and the communal areas. • Friendly staff. The staff are very cheerful and all speak good English as well as other languages. The restaurant and bar staff are quick to serve you drinks to your table which is nice. • Food. Although the majority of the food was the same each night they did make an effort with themes. Mexican night was a personal favourite and the food was generally well cooked and always hot. My partner enjoyed the meat and fish on offer each night, however I ate mostly different stuff as I am vegan. I managed to find plenty to eat at lunch and dinner though - lots of salads and veg was available as well as beans, lentil dishes, potatoes and bread. You do have to be careful with the labels on food though. Things had vegan labels but listed egg or dairy in the allergens so just be wary of that if you need to be. Breakfast does get a bit boring though as you are restricted to toast, tomatoes, spinach and beans because mushrooms might have meat added or cheese is put on the potatoes. • Drinks. If you are fussy with drinks, it’s probably worth going for all inclusive plus. My partner and I like cocktails on holiday but they weren’t great. They are the typical all inclusive pre-mixes that aren’t the best so the premium ones are probably better. I ended up sticking to soft drinks and spirits because that seemed to be the safer option. • Outside areas. There are multiple large pools which is ideal in a large hotel like this. There were always enough sun beds too which was nice, never had to worry about those annoying people who reserve sun beds all day and you never get a chance at using one. •Entertainment. We par
Coral California - Adults Only
4/546 Reviews
We had booked and paid for a 5 day stay at the 4 Star Coral Ocean View but for some reason (which we are still trying to ascertain from the hotel chain) we were moved here. The Coral California is a 2 Star hotel at best and clearly a lesser hotel as to the one we should have been staying in. From reading other reviews it looks like the Coral Hotels make a habit of accepting bookings and then moving guests without prior notification or any valid reason and think this is acceptable. We had booked for a special occasion which I had emailed the hotel about prior to travelling but there was no acknowledgement from the hotel at all that it was my partner's 60th birthday which was very disappointing. Despite several visits to the reception, emails to the central reservations and even a trip to another hotel to try and locate the manager Coral Hotels left us to fend for ourselves. We had been dumped at the Coral California having no idea about the area that we were in or where anything was nearby. We were 1.5km away from where we should have been so all our plans had to change. The Coral California is an average hotel with zero facilities apart from a pool. If you're happy sunbathing like sardines in a shaded area then this is the place for you. We ended up going to the beach every day. There were no activities available at the Coral California. When we asked for pool towels the California refused to lend us any. We hadn’t packed towels in our suitcases as they were part of the package at the Coral Ocean View so we had to buy some whilst we were there. There was construction work going on around the hotel which was noisy. We had an active crane outside our front door, rubble and construction materials in constant view and signs everywhere to say the hotel was under construction. There was also something strange in the wardrobe carcase. We informed the receptionist about it on the very first day and asked whether it could be removed but it was still there when we left and had been ignored by the cleaners. We had no air conditioning, and the wardrobe was also missing its doors. The breakfast was inedible, the selection was poor and it was the same thing every day which had clearly been sat there for far too long. The bread was stale and very limited. It was also obvious that certain items of food were being reheated in the microwave when they had gone cold. Even the cold food either had a funny colour or funny taste to it. It was pretty vile and the same thing was dished up every day. The staff were rude and unhelpful. We asked for a map and we were told to Google everything despite there being a pad of maps behind the reception. When we asked for one it was given to us but not willingly. You are unable to request a late check out and the hotels alternative facilities were not good enough. Your luggage is stored ”securely” in a storage room where there are fridges and food so people are constantly in and out leavin
