We stayed here to celebrate my birthday, I love this place, its luxurious place, beautiful room with the view of the sea and very friendly and helpful staff. It has a very big breakfast area, many restaurants and they are all very good. Highly recommended

This resort is in a grand and glorious spot. That is the best feature. Unfortunately it has some serious wear and tear and lack of maintenance that has caused a decline. It was our first time, we were there for a destination wedding so many things were provided through the wedding party. If we had just booked the room on our own I feel we would have been greatly disappointed. Tennis courts, mini golf, grounds around beach area, lounge chairs, pools were not cleaned for the entire week we were there as I noticed a big stick on the bottom that was there the whole time, ****s all throughout the property that is were not addressed. Those type of things look like it had not been cared for in years. My speculation is when Greece had their financial collapse the money source for this operation dried up. They are trying to keep lipstick on the pig, but it is not working for the cost of the rooms.

We enjoyed our stay there. The room was very spacious - bedroom plus second room with sofa bed. Room was very clean and was serviced twice a day. The beach area was nice and there are water sports available (for a fee). Resort is quite large but walkable. They also have golf carts available to drive you from one place to another if preferred. Breakfast has a huge selection with both indoors and outdoors seating areas.

The only thing "grand" about this hotel and resort is the cost. With the least expensive room running at over €400 a night, the experience came nowhere near to expectations. The beach rooms are tired and have equipment falling apart (AC controls, shower flooring etc). The cleaning team turn up at 8am outside and line the beach with large plastic refuse bags and a man then asks to come in the room at 8.30am everyday (when your partner is still in bed) to check the minibar. On arrival, there were also cigarette ends and used plastic water bottles littering our terrace area. Outside the beach is unpleasant - littered, dull grey sand - and the sunloungers are falling apart and covered in seagull poop, completely shocking and unacceptable for any hotel, but certainly a nasty surprise in a "Leading Hotel of the World". Around the resort are many closed restaurants and sadly abandoned looking facilities and the three restaurants that are open are outrageously overpriced. We ate out every night after our first! Additionally there is an excess of road traffic noise from the main road that runs just behind the rooms, just to add another layer of disappointment. With the notable exception of the excellent breakfast and the excellent breakfast staff, this place was a consistent letdown. I would balk at paying even €60 a night, let alone over €400. If you want a beach hotel, many will be nicer, and if you want an Athens hotel, ones closer in would be better. I truly don't like writing negative reviews but I feel this one cannot be avoided.

I don't usually post negative reviews, but on this occasion, our stay was so bad at this hotel, that I felt the need to write this. We stayed at the Grand Lagonissi for 3 nights for a family wedding. Our room was a deluxe beach front bungalow, which by the way, looks fine on their website, but is not a reflection of the actual reality. The property is extremely dated with non-functional facilities. 3 of our 4 sockets didn't work and we there were no USB wall chargers. From the moment we entered the room we noticed a disgusting musty and damp smell. Immediately you could see that the room was filthy with dust and cobwebs everywhere. The lampshades were covered in dust and the table tops sticky. The grass outside in the so called 'garden area' was dirty and unkempt. The bathroom was even worse than the room, with a disctinct sulphur type smell coming from the toilet area. Broken tiles and paint peeling off were an added bonus. Things only got worse when we realised the towels had red ants crawling through them. On the first night we got back to our room following a wedding function only to find 12-15 mosquitoes on our ceiling. We called housekeeping who came and sprayed bug spray everywhere including the bed! We then asked them to clear up the dead bugs and change the bedding as my sister is allergic and has asthma and they refused! We ended up sleeping on the sofa that night. The next morning we waited for new housekeeping staff and asked them to change the bedding which had dead mosquitoes on it - they were very rude and refused. The lady made us feel like we were inconveniencing them. On top of this the air con wasn't working properly. The sofa and beds all have bed bugs. My sister and I have been bitten all over our bodies and have been to see the Dr since we got back home to get some treatment as the bites are so painful. Room service was also shambolic. We ordered some coffee to the room which took over 90 minutes to arrive. When we came back later that night the dirty cups were still there despite the turn-down service. When I called to complain, I was rudely told that housekeeping don't clear dirty crockery and it was our responsibility to call room service for collection. The beach front bungalows are not easily accessible from the main hotel. If you want to get anywhere you need to call a buggy which can take up to 20 minutes to arrive, sometimes not arriving at all. All in all if I could give this property a minus rating, I would. Rude staff, dated amenities, filthy rooms and a total disregard for customer service. Never again would I visit here and I would strongly discourage others from visiting. The Lagonissi is far from being grand.

My wife & I just returned from a work-related incentive trip to Greece that included 4 nights at the Grand Resort Lagonissi, about 40 minutes south of downtown Athens. Our experience was nothing like other recent reviews that dogged the property. We had an absolutely amazing stay. Our room was first-class, with a private infinity plunge pool, sea view, in-room steam shower and nautilus equipment, and huge walk-in closet (just to name a few of the highlights). The on-property restaurants were amazing, although service was dreadfully slow. Prices are insanely high, but fortunately my company was picking up the bill! I would love to stay there again, but probably wouldn’t if I was paying for it. If price is no option, go for it!

Pleasant enough stay but the resort really has seen better days. It’s clear that it once was a beautiful resort but now is very tired and in need of a lot of TLC. We asked to switch rooms on arrival as the original bungalow felt musty and looked absolutely nothing like the images on the website, also the door wasn’t working properly (even staff couldn’t lock it) so we didn’t feel safe, we ended up paying almost €300 extra per night to stay in a higher grade room we felt safer in. Staff are on the most part friendly but service is very slow and the food/drink prices are insane (think €31 for 2 regular Coffees to the room) We tried all of the restaurants and the food is pretty average but there are some lovely salads (around €28 each) which we had on repeat. House keeping is very poor, they make the bed and provide new towels (most of which need to be completely replaced as they are faded and over washed) and that’s about it. We came back most days to find the water glasses/wine glasses/coffee cups still half empty on the table. The beach area is nice, as is the pool but the sun beds have seen better days and look really shabby. We spoke to a few members of staff about the service/resort in general but they said they are understaffed and the hotel hasn’t been renovated in years. It’s honestly a shame, it has so much potential to be a fantastic place and I’ve stayed in many hotels from the leading hotels of the world group but this one really falls short. Also it is not accessible at all for anyone with mobility issues or small kids, there are steep steps to the restaurants and beach areas and no ramps or lifts available outside of the main hotel building itself.
