Hotel Silver Spring

Silver Spring|0.22km from Regal Majestic
I stayed at this hotel in Silver Springs on Colesville Rd in March 2023. Both nights of my stay, I was not able to sleep because of the group next door. The second night, I called downstairs twice, after I was not able to sleep because the group next door kept banging on my door, yelling on the floor, and partying. Both times, I was told that even though the hotel has a policy stated on all floors that the hotel was quiet as a mandate from 11pm-7am, there was nothing they could do. I’m not a particularly light sleeper either. This led to me not being able to sleep all night both nights, it ruined my stay, and it is simply not acceptable to run a hotel where management denies guests the basic right to sleep in the hotel because they can't manage other guests. When I went downstairs in the morning to follow up, the person at the front desk seemed confused and told me that the standard response is to send security to manage the group. This was never offered, nor what the person at the front desk did. I find all of this unacceptable. I was staying there for a conference and I was not able to do the work I should have reasonably expected to be able to do because I was exhausted from travel and unable to rest. I think the very basic function of a hotel and the reason people stay at hotels is that they expect to be able to sleep in the room that they have been assigned. If you can't provide that, then I don't know why you offer people rooms at a price.

I am a Bonvoy Titanium member, have stayed at this property now one dozen times over the past three years - from pre-pandemic through the hardest days and up until today. They continue to present a clean, courteous, well-located great value, and will remain my hotel of choice in the area. I do see that changes and challenges both in the hotel and around it. The little ”restaurant”/Starbucks in the lobby is open again for breakfast and happy hour, which is nice at a property without a lounge. Much of the downtown Silver Spring feels pretty 'normal' once again with plenty of dining and shopping choices, and easy easy walk to a grocery, theater and drug store. Make sure you ask clearly to get housekeeping if you want it. It took me 36 hours to get just clean towels - likely a staffing/communications problem rather than a serous flaw, and all was well at the end of the day. Appreciate the service in these trying times.

This is a long time coming. I stayed at the hotel in January just for one night. I’d stayed there before but it appeared to not be on record. But anyway, I was checked in by Ethiopia and she was explaining the hotel and I mentioned I’d stayed before. Love the hotel which is why I go back. Shortly after getting to my room I get a knock at the door. Low and behold it’s Ethiopia with a “welcome” bag with all these nutritious snacks. LOL! I was shocked and pleasantly surprised. That was AMAZING customer service!!! So again, kudos to Ethiopia!!

The room on the first floor of the hotel is facing the parking lot. Don't step on the pit when you check in.
