I have moved into the area and bought my father down from London and decided to try a few local pubs. This is by far the most welcoming the Bar lady who told us she was Charlotte was so friendly engaging in conversation with ud and seemed generally interested. Even when the locals came she knew them by name amd nothing was too much trouble. This is exactly the service you want from a bar lady. Highly recommended

We went for Sunday lunch it was so good so much food in the plate and excellent value. We had the roast chicken followed by a delicious homemade crumble with ice cream. The atmosphere was cosy amd friendly.

Great little find. Basic but very good. The bed was very comfortable and the shower great. Friendly local pub with great beer and atmosphere. The music played in the bar was great too. Good location right in the middle of town and a lovely beer garden round the back.

Was a good value stay for £60. The rooms are behind the pub with access without having to go in the pub. The rooms were clean and tidy and had towels for the shower and tea and coffee making facilities. Didn’t spend much time in the pub so can’t comment on that. Would stay again.

Very comfortable and clean. Basic but had everything I needed. Staff were amazing! Nothing too much trouble for them and extremely friendly! Breakfast was superb! Freshly cooked full English & served with fresh orange and fresh pot of coffee for £9.95!! Would definitely recommend if you just want a place to stay.

Overall the pub was excellent value for an overnight stay. The small twin room booked was ensuite and slightly separate to the main building. The room was quiet, well decorated and facilities were more than expected for the price. One star has been deducted since the kitchen closed for cleaning fifteen minutes before the 7 pm advertised time and because only the full English Breakfast was offered (had to be ordered along with a time) when the menu in the morning showed a smaller breakfast was also available. The breakfast was very good and cooked to order. There is an Indian restaurant close by and a fish and chips and Chinese take away less than a couple of minutes away. Guests are allowed to bring their meals back to the pub to eat after missing the serving hours. The landlady is extremely efficient and all the staff were helpful and courteous. The room was fine for someone with walking issues but a small step to the room would preclude a wheelchair - but the room next door was on level surfaces. A place to return to. Tip: Reverse into the parking space reserved for guests with a bollard; it is difficult to back onto the busy road due to the amount of traffic in the morning.

We spent 3 nights at The Wheatsheaf to meet friends in the area. Both rooms we were given in the charming old pub - one directly above the pub and one in the old barn in the backyard - were well equipped including hairdryer, TV etc. One of them even had a small fridge. The beds were comfortable the windows blocked out most of the sounds from the through-road outside. Both rooms and bathrooms were spotlessly clean. Parking was available right in front of the house. Brreakfast was served in the pub. There was a good choice, everything was freshly made and very tasty. All the staff we met were extremely friendly and helpful. We had food in the pub on one evening, which was also very tasty and good value for money.

Booked 2 rooms for the night, twin room for our teenage boys was great. Very spacious. Kids loved it. Budget double was small obviously due to budget. Beds extremely comfortable. The Tv was in an awkward place at the side of the bed and the kettle table was awkward to use as was right by the hooks to hang your clothes. Was a good price though and fine for an overnight stay. Sue the host was lovely. Local shop over the road and a couple of takeaways on the street or you could eat at the pub. No noise from the pub was very quiet.

A delightful typically English pub with a friendly atmosphere. A parking space was reserved outside the front door and on arrival I was shown to my small room which had everything I needed and was spotlessly clean. Sue explained how to adjust the heating and then pointed out the easiest route to walk to where I was spending the day. Having had a peaceful night's sleep I went to the bar where breakfast was served. The quality of the full English was excellent and I needed nothing else to eat until late evening. I would recommend staying here as it is a comfortable experience Thank you Sue
