Hotel Around Takayama, Ascend Hotel Collection

The location was perfect, the room was nicely designed and very clean, the staff were super helpful and friendly, the public bath was quaint and neat. But my favorite is the fact that the hotel offered an extensive travel guide for the guests. I didn’t plan much traveling to Takayama, but the hotel’s thorough and detailed guide on what to do and where to go around the area helped me so much!! I would definitely recommend to my friends and family next time!!

My shoes were stolen! I just left the store yesterday, but the shoes were stolen! The hotel handled the problem by giving me a pair of old shoes that were much larger than my feet and did not fit at all. To be honest, we are very dissatisfied with this approach! I added a clerk, and the explanation over there just said that someone might have taken the wrong one, but there is a big gap between my shoes and that person's shoes! Mine is cloth shoes. Others have lacquer finishes, and the shoelaces are of different shapes. If others take them, they will be too that.... I will travel to other cities for the rest of the time. Now I am wearing the ones that the shop gave me. Old shoes, I can't find a shoe store, which is quite painful! This is my experience... If you come to live here, you might have to prepare an extra pair of shoes! My shoes have been stolen! Just left the store yesterday, but the shoes were stolen! Hotel Wood Takayama

My favorite hotel in Takayama. The hotel has a sense of design, good service, clean bath (but small) and a lot of Hida pure milk ice cream to eat. There are soft drinks available all day, and you can also try more than a dozen kinds of sake for free. The breakfast is delicious and beautiful. There are also many Hida drinks and milk dairy products to drink. Later we lived in Takayama Sakura. When we wanted to have a drink after the soup at night and found that there was no lemonade at the front desk, we sighed that if we were in wood in this climate, we must have started drinking soft drinks.
Hotel Associa Takayama Resort

We stayed at Hotel Associa Takayama Resort as part of our tour group. We had a spacious twin room on the 15th floor of the Alps Wing which was the largest room of our tour. The room was very comfortable as were the beds. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean. There was tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The resort is on the outskirts of Takayama but there is a shuttle bus into the centre of the city. There are limited restaurants in the hotel and 2 of them were booked out by the time we arrived. We managed to book into the Japanese restaurant and had a delicious meal there. The breakfast buffet didn't have cereal. There was a laundromat on the ground floor which consisted of a number of combined washing machine/dryers which dispensed their own detergent.

We stayed here for a 2 nights on a Distant Journey (DJ) tour of Japan. Arrived around 5pm by coach from Mt Fuji area. Check in was well organised but it was after 6pm before our luggage arrived in our room on 8th floor. We were meant to meet our TM and guide between 7 and 7.30 for advice on where to have dinner. Map in hand we turned right outside hotel and proceeded into town. Recommended restaurants were very difficult to find. Any we did find, including those not mentioned, were either fully reserved or full or, as time passed towards 8pm, were closing. We headed back to the hotel to find buffet option was £45 or set Japanese meal ¥8,300 (£53). Many of us went to a 711 across the road from hotel and bought ready meals, which they heated for us in microwave, beer or wine and we retreated to our rooms. The street lighting is poor so navigation from a map was difficult. Breakfast was like school dinners but passable. Bar closes at 7pm!!! If you are reading this and are on a JD tour get to town early to stand a chance of eating out. A group did find a restaurant very close by hotel before the bridge on opposite side of road to 711 but the name unrecognisable as in Japanese, photo attached.
