Don’t go. Food is terrible had to send a basic meal fish and chips back to the kitchen, the fish was over cooked so much so there wasn’t any fish in the batter, the chips were cold and French fries not chips, the peas were supposed to be mushy peas and came out as cold frozen peas. The chef had to phone his boss and ask how to do a bread board which was in the starters menu. His phone was on loud speaker so we heard everything mainly swearing 🤬 Tickets for the nights when they are having entertainment are non refundable which isn’t mentioned when booking. The place has damp patches on the ceilings which look like the could collapse or leak water over you at the table. What an awful experience, so bad there are no words to describe it properly. No wonder hospitality is on its knees, better off at home cooking and a bottle of wine. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME or MONEY. ABSOLUTELY AVOID

AVOID AT ALL COSTS The worst place I have stayed I had a flight from Stansted airport and this being so close the reason for staying here. When I arrived there was no reception or no one to answer the phone lucky there was someone in the kitchen at the back off the pub. The room floor was bowing in the middle so when I was sleeping was giving me a bad back as the bed wasn’t level. My partner had a shower at around 8pm I had went to get in 30 mins after and the water was freezing cold, so I had tried to call the hotel to tell them finally answer an hour later to be told “there’s nothing I can do it 9.30 at night” “everyone’s had a shower” which i was leaving at 7am in the morning there was nothing they could do to help. There was also no shower gels, I also tried to have a shower in the morning before leaving as I knew I had a long day ahead and it was still not working. Also there was no one to assist me in the morning as there was no bolts in this area I was unsure on taxi number to get to the airport. The room never had any heating the bathroom was cold and the radiator was working and the bedroom radiator never work but there was an oil heater in there but I had to turn this on from the minute I got there and turn it off as I was leaving. Absolute terrible visit. The pub had no music on I felt like it just wasn’t an atmosphere to be in, there was a really helpful and polite lady working behind the bar and then there was a man that had taken over and I felt he was watching me in the bar area and as I was eating I moved into a different room cause I didn’t want to feel uncomfortable whilst eating.

No reception, no electricity when we arrived had to use a torch to find the key dispenser. Tripped down the stairs in the dark twisted my knee. Finally got in the room to be met with a filthy shower. Bed linen questionable, smell of urine in room.Nobody around to cancel my booking. Left and drove to another hotel. Lost £70 but the hotel refuses to refund me. Don’t get conned. Nightmare!

So me and my daughter stayed in room 5 so it was close to stansted airport for an early flight in the morning. The good points were the bus stop was directly outside and a 10 minute drive. The pub was nice and the barmaid, Liz was absolutely lovely but they didn’t open until 5pm. Self check in from 3pm, up some metal stairs to the side of building, the door was broken, the light wasn’t working so we had use our phone light to see, room 5 is right at the end and steps down into the room. There was no electric at all so couldn’t make a drink or charge our phones, the bath tap was dripping and the sink tap barely had any flowing water, the sink basin was detached from the unit, then we noticed the bed had a huge dent in it so on further inspection the sheets and mattress protector for were filthy and stained, the mattress itself was broken, with holes in on one side and springs sticking out when I turned the mattress to see if it was any better on the other side, I had to fill the hole with two folded towels to make it comfortable enough to sleep in. There were no hand towels, There was a radiator in room but no heating, the portable heater had one leg and couldn’t be used as no electric, there were black hairs on the other bed and we are both blonde. All the electric sockets were on one wall in the corner, the window was broken so it was freezing, the floor was dirty and so were the complimentary shower gel and shampoo holders, the TV was broken, the stand detached and the Ariel had wires sticking out. Tried contacting the owner through their ‘24 hour helpline’ service and got no reply. The electric turned on at 5pm long enough to boil the kettle after sitting in a freezing room for 2 hours then turned off again, we went downstairs to the pub as was now open to ask what was happening and were told they were having electric issues and were waiting for an electrician. We were able to charge our phone at least as we needed the flight information and our boarding passes. Liz, the barmaid, was lovely, she gave us a complimentary drink and money off our food order. She contacted the owner for us, he did not apologise for any issues raised, blamed the cleaners for not doing their job and tried to tell us the sheets were just stained, not dirty! He offered no apology for any of the issues and no apparent care to rectify any of them, including the fact the water bill must be sky high with the amount of water leaking from the bath. Whilst in the pub, the ceiling started leaking a lot of water, their was a large crack and hole in the where the water was pouring through, this was from room 4’s toilet that was leaking! The floor was soaked in the bar and even though they apparently had an electrician out, by the time we went back to the room at 9.20pm the lights or electric weren’t working again.

Worse place on earth avoid at all cost. Even Airbnb have removed it. Mould everywhere, no hot or cold running water. Freezing cold. Cracked windows. Dirty bedding. Dangerous outdoor entry system when wet. The list goes on. The owner could not be contacted either

Disgusting hotel Damp, cold, smelly, dirty, shall I go on! We have tried contacting the owners who are ignoring and not responding to calls, emails or what’s app messages, it’s been over a week and we are getting nothing back from them. Please don’t waste your money staying here as it is vile. We have reported them to trading standards.
