Our 2nd trip to Hotel Grillons as it was so fabulous the first time around. It certainly didn't disappoint. Wonderful staff, the cleanest of rooms & communal areas, exquisite food in the evening & good breakfast range too. The setting is sublime with views over the lake & mountains. It's a truly magical spot & exceptional value for money. As per our fist review, this is far more than a 3-star hotel! It gets 5-stars for us! Special thanks to the cleaner of our room who was wonderfully friendly & adored seeing our little doggy each day. She was a credit to the hotel and our room was always spotless. Thankyou once again for a magical break...

We have just had our 3rd visit to Les Grillons and were disappointed when we heard that Sebastian and Aurelie were no longer involved in the hotel. However Steven and Laurie have taken over the helm very well. Everyone we came across who had never stayed before were so complementary about the delicious food. Our room, no. 29, was very comfortable with the most amazing lake views. All staff in the hotel were just lovely and the service by everyone was faultless. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the food was delicious. Keep up the good work Steve and Laurie and we hope to see you when we visit for a 4th time at some stage.

I have just returned from a coach company holiday / tour with Parrys International (from the UK) which stayed at this beautiful hotel for five nights. A truly fabulous hotel which is located overlooking Lake Annecy, and the mountain range. Staff at the hotel were so friendly and helpful. Rooms are fantastic, the grounds delightful, and as for the food....OMG, a real delight with wonderfully tasteful cuisine served each evening. A true delight! Hope to return to relive this beautiful experience. Thank you so much.

We stayed in a Courtyard View Room at Les Grillons in July. The room was an adequate size with a wardrobe area which was separated by an internal door and a large bathroom with a separate toilet. The room had a safe, a small fridge, a full length mirror and a hairdryer. The air conditioning was both quiet and efficient. The room had a view over the car park, towards the mountains that surround Lake Annecy. The room was kept very clean. Our only criticism was the lack of storage space, especially for guests staying for more than just a few days. We felt that a set of drawers for storing small items of clothing and other bits and bobs, would have been far more useful than the table which was in our room. There were sufficient socket points in the room. We stayed on a half board basis. Breakfasts were continental with a few extras, so in addition to croissants, pastries, breads and meats/cheeses, there was yogurt and granola, fruit, boiled eggs and pancakes. Anyone expecting bacon, sausages and fried eggs would be disappointed. The hotel also provided packed lunches. These could be ordered the night before if you required one the next day. The evening meal consisted of 4 courses, a starter, main course, cheese course and dessert. The main course wasn’t huge but the 4 courses were filling. Food was innovative and of a high standard although occasionally there may have been one ingredient too many. Desserts were especially good. We would have preferred a choice of dishes although guests could request something different if they did not like or had an aversion to any particular ingredient. The drinks menu included a wide variety of wines, starting at 22 euros a bottle (although half bottles were cheaper), going up to wines costing over 100 euros. There was an indoor restaurant but when the weather was reasonable it was possible to eat at one of the outside tables which was really nice on a warm night. The only downside was that smoking was permitted in the outside area and some guests allowed their smoke to drift to other tables while people were eating. Also, the hotel allows dogs and there were several in the outside eating area although we only saw one in the inside restaurant. We also saw one guest allow his dog to urinate in the grounds of the hotel in an area where children played. All staff were friendly and most spoke reasonable English. We didn’t use the pool but it looked inviting and was popular with some guests. The grounds were nice and there was plenty of car parking. The hotel is situated in Angon, at the end of the bus route. The bus starting point is just a few minutes’ walk if using the hotel’s rear gate. Buses were free to use in July and August. The hotel is also about 5 minutes’ walk from the pier for the lake boat which sails from Annecy three times a day. Angon was alright as a location but not as attractive as Talloires, Menthon St Bernard and Duingt. Les Grillons is a clean hotel with good food

We stayed five days in this really lovely clean hotel. Our room was spacious and had a balcony with lake views. The food was superb; the breakfast was low key continental was perfectly adequate, but the dinner was varied and superb with the menu displayed each day at breakfast. Staff were extremely friendly, helpful and efficient. Hotel located outside of Les Talloires but the bus stop into Annecy and other hamlets was very close to hotel and was so efficient! Across the road was lane which lead to the lakeside. We absolutely loved our stay in this hotel and loved Annecy ! Thank you all and good luck to new owners who are doing a sterling job!

We returned to Les Grilloons after a first visit 12 years ago and we now can't understand why we stayed away for so long! This time we took our daughter, son-in-law and two grandsons with us and we had rooms next to each other (13 and 14), both with terraces and amazing views over the swimming pool, with the lake and mountains behind. Room 14 is in fact two bedrooms with a shared bathroom which worked perfectly for our daughter and her family. All in all the experience proved just as magical as before. The setting is quite extraordinarily beautiful, all the hotel amenities exemplary (now with air condiitoning in the bedrooms which had also been modernised and updated since our last visit), the food is as good as everyone else reports, the really well-proportioned and spotlessly clean swimming ppol is surrounded by delightful gardens and, perhaps most outstanding of all, every single member of staff we ecnountered could not have been more friedly or helpful - nothing was ever too much trouble. A special mention must go to the barman and the receptionist, but they were simply the very best of an outstanding team. We will certainly not leave it another 12 years before we return - indeed, we have already taken an option on the same two rooms for July 2024!

After the craziness of Paris, a train ride and a drive along the windy roads near Annecy in our rental car, our family of 4 arrived in Talloires to this lovely respite of a hotel, just in time for dinner. We were immediately at ease and felt taken care of. The dinners were lovely and of a caliber I was not expecting. Reviews and photos from the previous owners, I assumed the meals would be good but more rustic. My teen daughters, picky eaters, ate everything and we enjoyed seeing the menus go up to learn what was planned for the nightly meal. Our two rooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms recently remodeled and the air conditioning was very much appreciated! A close drive to Annecy, St. Gervais and Geneva (one hour) make this is an excellent base for exploring. Next time, I hope to stay longer and spend more time just relaxing by the pool. There was one other American family while there. Mostly French, German and English guests but much of the staff spoke English pretty well and we got by without problems. Matias and Pierre stood out among the staff. Super warm and congenial. We loved our stay and found it to be an excellent value.

We've been staying here for many years since the 1990s. During the last 15 years or so, the hotel has been owned and well managed by Aurelie and Sebastien. However, when we arrived this month, we discovered they'd sold the hotel to Aurelie's brother, and we'd received no word of this from them, despite communicating recently. We were a bit miffed that they hadn't felt it necessary to inform their long-term returning customers. Sebastian was a superb chef, but the new owner,Steve, despite being a trained chef, is nowhere near as good. The evening menus, main meals, always served in bowls rather than plates, were not up to standards of the past, which is disappointing 😕. The breakfasts are now very poor with very little choice or variety and the service, replenishment of the buffet items was very slow or didn't happen 🙄! The mattress in our room was so lumpy and old, sleep was difficult. We've put up with stuff like that in the past because the dinners were to cordon bleu standard and so good. The gardens, pool and terrace are still great to relax or enjoy an aperitif, and car parking space is exceptional. However the hotel has lost its edge with this change in ownership and this year's visit will be our last as there is now no good reason to go back, after making more than 20 visits over thd years - shame!

Cycling around France, we came across lake Annecy. What a beautiful place. Looking for a hotel for the night we stopped just outside Talloires, in Les Grillons. Worked well for us and it’s more or less opposite the bike trail. Food was amazing and the breakfast was huge. Swimming pool and jacuzzi also very welcome after a day’s cycling. A comfortable night and we had to move on… We’d love to come back one day to enjoy more time in this lovely hotel.
