La Bastide de Tourtour Hotel & Spa

As before, a wonderful location in green Provence. The hotel is accessed from a side road close to the pretty village of Tourtour. There is ample onsite car parking. Reception on the ground floor, with adjacent restaurant. The spa area is via the lower ground floor, with pools, hot tub, sauna and massage facilities. Excellent views from a well appointed room. The lower score reflects the unusual issues on the day, which were fedback at the time. Hopefully hotel admin and the restaurant management will pick up, as this should be an excellent hotel.

Excellent stay, the bastide is beautiful, very clean, the staff are really helpful, the food in the restaurant was very good, our room was nice and clean, bed comfortable. The spa was excellent, really loved the Nordic bath.

This hotel has not been invested in properly, considering it’s wonderful location, gorgeous architecture and characterful setting. Such a shame. Firstly, the “dinner” options are very limited - only two options for each course, and even when it was suggested that my children could not eat either a seafood risotto or Veal and sweetbreads (!) the waiters offered no alternative. So my children went hungry. The risotto was inedible and overcooked porridge. When we didn’t eat any of it and complained the waiters shrugged. When I suggested I wouldn’t pay for it because it was inedible, I was told by the manager that they “had 61 covers that night and nobody else complained”, basically saying that my complaint didn’t matter!! This really soured the experience for all of us, and made me notice many other “service” problems from our three night stay. For example, the ‘included’ breakfast buffet was tired and very limited in terms of fresh fruit and healthy options. If you wanted a couple of fried eggs, you could order them for an additional €5! When we asked for a corkscrew to open a bottle of wine we had bought to keep in the empty minibar fridge, I was told to ask the barman, who said “bring it back immediately!” As if I was going to steal it! The pool towels were provided in a nice basket to take down from your room - a nice touch til you read the note on the basket saying “we will count the towels in your room every night and if any are missing, the cost will be added to your bill” Honestly, if you are paying €300 or more for a night in a supposed 4* hotel, surely you trust your guests not to steal the tired pool towels? Such a shame. This hotel could be really nice if the service and overall attitude towards guests were upgraded to 21st century, international standards.

This place was amazing . The hotel, the views, the food , the facilities all exceeded expectations. Most of all though the staff. The Quality manager and the head bar man Euan looked after us so well. Made the best Irish coffee I've ever had and helped us plan our remaining journey to see some amazing places. Priceless memories.

Amazing…bedroom suite, staff, breakfast & dinner, services…all excellent. A must visit! Scenery stunning…even in torrential downpours! The type of accommodation that makes you want to return! The only negatives (and they were minor) were that the shower within the bad was not very effective, the bath towels too small and not soft and no face flannel.

Great hotel, great village!!! 2. time after 35 years, and we will come back again. Hotel is outstanding and has improved (developed with SPA etc.). Location is remote, but so beautifully posisioned adjacent to the small village. The village of Tourtour is worth a visit alone - so pittoresk and full of atmosphere.

Beautiful hotel in a fabulous location with excellent facilities and remarkable views. Food and wine were good but service was erratic at times...management supervision front of house seemed to be lacking. Room faced West over car park, would recommend South facing. One major issue: as in many French hotels and restaurants, smoking was permitted on the terrace which spoilt the food. Smoking should be banned outside unless confined to specific areas downwind of those of us who wish to enjoy our food and stay healthy! 3 EV chargers available, much appreciated.

Our experience was very nice, we stayed for 3 nights and enjoyed each day on the property within close proximity of the village. We spent time by the pool which has a great view and convenient access in and out of the spa area. The staff was extremely kind and welcoming, we felt this amongst every team member. Our only downside was limited lunch options but we found pleasure in strolling to the village for lunch and having dinner at the property. Each night there is a new menu keeping the experience fresh and the meals were tasty and reasonably priced. The view from the property is very beautiful, especially for sunrise and sunset. We were happy with our stay and give props to Yoann and Sébastien who took the time to explain a detailed painting in the lounge area. We really feel the price was fair for the hotel and we would be happy to go back for another stay.
