The first contact with Mrs. Maria Svarc, head of the booking office of the Hotel Principe in Udine took place by mail on 12.01.2022, when I asked for a reservation of nine rooms for 21.04.2022. The affirmative reply arrived immediately. After the booking, the details of my credit card were sent to Ms Svarc. One week before the start of the trip, Ms Svarc informed me that my credit card was not valid and that I have either to give another credit card or transfer the money, because otherwise she will have to cancel our booking. Immediately a friend stepped in and his card details were sent. Ms Svarc refused this card as well and insisted on a bank transfer. The transfer was made on Good Friday but was obviously delayed by the bank internally due to the Easter holidays. On the 20th of April, while cycling in the middle of the Canal Valley, I received a call from Ms Svarc, that the money had not arrived and that she will therefore cancel the booking, as there are always crooks working with tricks. This prejudice shocked us very much! All of us in the group are serious people with university or business backgrounds, and none of us needs to take advantage on anything. Apart from that, all our credit cards worked the whole week in all other hotels without any problems. In the afternoon, we sent to Ms Svarc the details of a third credit card, which she again did not accept. I asked the hotel owner in Gemona to call her and confirm that the cycling group existed, that there were no problems with the payment and that we wanted to claim the rooms at the Hotel Principe the next day. Still on 21.04. in the morning a friend from Udine had to make a telephone call to Mrs. Svarc to confirm our seriousness. It may be that such a strict way of dealing with customers is desired by the hotel management, but this way of dealing with us by Ms Svarc is utterly unacceptable for us. We recommend a retraining for Ms Maria Svarc, otherwise we will never book in this hotel again. Wolfgang Scholz, the organiser

Arrived at the store at 9 pm, but no one received it. It is said that the hotel actually has 4 rooms, and the door with a code lock is more like a homestay. I found a small assistant from Trip.com. After contacting, I said that the front desk was off work at 8:30, but I didn't inform in advance and didn't leave any notice. Wait until 9:30 to be called to inform the unlock password to enter the room. Good location and complete facilities. The room is spacious. The service is really bad. Ctrip's little assistant is good, contact at 3 o'clock in the night of Beijing time until the problem is solved.

Delightful staff. We asked for a High, Quiet Room with a Walk In Shower and that is, exactly what we got - Room 304 Wide selection of items at Breakfast. Super staff, after ordering an Espresso on the first morning, one was brought to me without asking each day Whilst I support the Greeks for trying to get their Elgin Marbles repatriated. I doubt the country of origin is asking for the offensive statues of black people by the fireplace in the Breakfast Room. In 2023 positively offensive. They should go. Hotel very well built but now looking tired. A major makeover needed. Drain for our Shower needs bleaching, very slow to drain away. The hotel is lovely. Super clean with modern amenities. Situated in the heart of the old city surrounded by restaurants, bars, shopping, culture and locals. This city is a hidden gem! The staff is so friendly and helpful. They made restaurant recommendations and reservations for us with a smile. The hotel was full, but we never heard a sound from others. The shower was amazing! Bed was very comfortable. We enjoyed a 2 hour tour from a local guide (Tourist Info site) for only €15,00 each! Highly recommend. The parking was easy and only about a 5 minute walk from the hotel. Many grocery stores nearby. Very secure building with an elevator. Great location, great hotel, great staff. 5 Stars! Would definitely stay with them, again!

Good location and nice exterior of historic building. Unfortunately the interior has had a disappointing contemporary makeover and our room was soulless with characterless built-in furniture. We had a very stuffy room at the front of the hotel facing a noisy street. Reception control the a/c, but the Receptionist refused to turn it on for us, saying we ”could open the window” instead. I explained that would mean we wouldn't be able to sleep because of the noise in the street. Receptionist replied that we ”shouldn't stay in a city if we didn't want a noisy hotel room”. Weirdest receptionist we have ever found, twisting all criticisms trying to say they were our fault. Breakfast very poor, cheap supermarket food, mouldy fruit under plastic from night before, bad coffee. We went to an excellent bakery with coffee down the road on the second morning. I asked for a receipt at checkout but when it didn't appear after 5 minutes I peered around the back and found the Receptionist was just sitting there staring at a blank computer screen to annoy me. A very strange and unsatisfactory experience.

The hotel is large and has had a fairly recent update and the room was very good, however their website says that there is a bar and restaurant. This is incorrect and not helpful after a longish journey it would have been good to use this facility. They do exist but closed, we asked why and was told that it was due to COVID-19 and that they may reopen at some time. Correct the website it means leaving the hotel and finding a restaurant not that easy on a Monday evening,the reception staff seemed nonplussed and just said that's the way it is and go find a restaurant. Disappointing considering that the hotel has potential, the breakfast was good.

The hotel is located on the edge of the old town of Udine, which you can reach after 10 minutes. The rooms are equipped with everything necessary. Unfortunately, our room had a roofbar where you had to watch that you don't hit your head. Breakfast is served in the lobby and at good weather, you can take it on a terrace. The car can be placed on a parking site side by the hotel.

Very good hotel for tripping around Udine. If you want to really stay in Udine this hotel is not the best option. Far away from center, but in rest is a perfect destination. Good rooms, good parking places, good breakfast, very good beds. The carpet from the corridors are having a smell, but once you go to the rooms this smell is disappearing.

I never make negative reviews, if you look at my profile you find no one, but this time if there were no balls, I would have used them dated hotel, wallpaper and moquettes, loose-heat-saves, shower tenders, muffa in the water.. we are in full 80 We've been completely stopped in this hotel, even for staff, who believe there are no other hotels or restaurants, and can care about the basis of the reception on the work trip, When we arrive, we welcome a lady who will prove completely inadequate, I find a bust in the booking, almost waited us the next day, and perhaps for this reason they didn't enter the heat or spend rooms and environments Frozen, my room has the window that doesn't close, but after trying to change the room, after 45 minutes return to my freezer The dinner that is included, is served in a glacier room, They try with stuff to raise the temperature, but the attempt is vain Just say, gentlemen, we have nothing, go to eat a pizza, instead they prompt us the worst dinner, in a frozen place there is no bread, the oil is frozen, No choice or menu, the first is a scandalous pasta to the pest of doubt origin, the chicken has certainly a date, 3 days before, dry, yellow, 2 potatoes Fine of dinner, frozen we ask for love, a grappa, the unfaithful Miss, being out of menu, asks 4 euros, i.e. after having joined us with dinner, after having frozen us, has no scrupulousness to offer a bitter I refuse to enjoy breakfast and dinner for the next few days, only positive note, the gentleman at the reception and another girl, Jacqueline who makes in 2 to put some pieces in the situation I stop here

Hotel well located, closed to Udine city. There is a free convenient parking. If you don’t have a car it is not very convenient to reach it. I just stayed one night during business trip. I booked a standard room. Basic amenities but clean. However it was not possible to lift the roller shutter. So not good if you want to spend some times in the room. There is a pool and spa service but I didn’t have time to use it. Breakfast is extra 9€ but good and with both sweet and salty options. Polite and nice receptionists. If you don’t care of pool and spa and you are on business trip maybe other options will be better.
