Hotel Terrasse am See

Beautiful view of the lake and the mountains, but infernal noise early in the morning and late in the evening, given the proximity of the station! Small and disappointing rooms, friendly staff, but uncommunicative manager for advice and sharing of comments, evening meal: 2 glasses of still tap water at CHF 2.50 per glass = completely unacceptable! No air conditioning! 24 hour wait to get a second linen in the bathroom and a pillow for the bedroom!

Shocking!!!!!! I wanted to reserve a table for 7 people for lunch over the phone. Ms. Nussbaumer rudely put me off with the words: "She doesn't have time right now, I should call another time. The second time I called a few days later, she also rudely turned me down. After another three days I called again to find out what the offer was. Ms. Nussbaumer hung up the phone with the words: "I've lost my nerve, find another restaurant!!!!" Shocking!!!!! Something like this has never happened to me before!!!! What a shame for the beautiful hotel with the great location.

We had to decide at short notice whether we were going to leave at all. We decided on Switzerland and after much searching we ended up at the Terrasse am See. Excellent location between the Rigi cog railway and the boat dock and a fantastic view, as it is right on the lake. As it is a "historic hotel", the rooms are furnished with old furniture, but are very well maintained and the room is very clean. We were immediately told about the Tell Pass, which is definitely worth it if you do a lot. Although we were traveling in a convertible, we didn't touch the car the whole time we were there. In general, everyone was very helpful. We had dinner once when we arrived, as we would otherwise visit Lucerne in the evening and didn't want to commit to one place. The food was very good and the service very friendly. Breakfast was normal hotel standard, with excellent bread and pastries. If you wish, you can also order special requests such as eggs etc., which I think is better anyway, as they are freshly prepared and not left to cook in a warming dish. We would come back.

We stayed at the Hotel Terrasse am See a few years ago - and had only good memories. We stayed there again for 3 nights - room 105. Wonderfully homely, with creaky floors and matching furniture. The only modern thing in the room is the TV - and we don't think it's needed. Sitting on the terrace and looking out over the lake is much nicer! The hosts are very accommodating - you can tell that they enjoy doing this. And the half-board menus are simply top-notch - simple dishes prepared excellently - exactly to our taste. The varied wine list contains exclusively Swiss wines - from all cantons. We liked everything very much - see you another time!

We were sent away when we wanted to go to the restaurant with children!!! First we were isolated in a corner, and when we didn't want to stay there, they said the children were disturbing the restaurant terrace and making the chairs dirty. When we resisted, she chased us away, clapping her hands.

Even though the sky wasn't completely clear, we had a beautiful setting. A table in the garden with the best view. The food, pike-perch crisps with French fries, was top notch! In some places the French fries are inedible when they slowly cool down. Here on the terrace by the lake they are still very good even cold. Luckily the plates were very hot 👍, because we eat slowly. The dessert was also very tasty, with real cream. It's great that they also serve MINI portions. A very competent waiter supported the whole feeling of well-being. By the way, the interior is very originally decorated, many years ago I stayed there, today a quantum leap! Very nice. We RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT, everything was perfect. We will definitely come back, because there is still a touch of old school here, which we like.

Beautiful location for this historic hotel which has retained its period style. Large bedrooms (105 + 107) with direct access to the terrace. Superb view of the lake and the mountains opposite. Beautiful garden with terrace under the trees (meals and drinks). Large and bright restaurant room. Pleasant and friendly welcome at reception. Availability for information. Very good and tasty food. Service generally correct. Toll parking.

We spent a few days in this hotel. It was a fantastic experience. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast was extensive and was enjoyed in a room with a phenomenal view of Lake Lucerne. We had booked half board and enjoyed a delicious 3-course dinner every evening. The hotel is not only located on the water, but also next to the dock for the boat to Lucerne, among others. The boarding point for the cog railway (Rigi Bahnen) is also next to the hotel. The price for an overnight stay is certainly reasonable by Swiss standards. Last, but certainly not least, the owner and staff are very friendly and helpful. In short: we will definitely come back again.
