My husband and I spent our anniversary weekend in Winston-Salem. We always stay at Hilton affiliated properties, so we booked for 2 nights at this property due to location and amenities. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The lobby and pool areas were extremely nice. We had a king junior suite, which was nice in size. The bed was super comfortable. Here are a few suggestions for improvement: the a/c unit was not in the “bedroom” part of the suite, so it got very hot laying in bed. The a/c unit is an older model…there was a wall thermostat but it didn’t work. The bathroom looked all new, but there was a ton of mold in the shower. Wallpaper was peeling of the walls in the hall. The carpet in the hallway on the first floor needed a serious cleaning. Would I come back, yes…but I do think this property needs to work on the details.
Experience comfort and convenience at our hotel, featuring an indoor pool and 24-hour fitness center. Our sunlit hospitality room is perfect for gatherings and accommodates up to 25 people. We’re strategically located within 11 minutes of Wake Forest University and downtown Winston Salem, while Truist Stadium is only 10 miles away. Your ideal stay awaits.

My experience was taxing to say the least. I arrived, after working an eight-hour day and traveling five hours, to a room that had old urine stains at the base of the toilet (both sides). The staff immediately provided a replacement, but it had the same issue. The third room was much better but clearly had not been used or dusted in a long time. The staff member did state that they do not typically have much business. I would expect that there is ample time to clean the rooms, even spot-checking the ones not in use. If I had had the energy, I would have taken the loss and gone to a different hotel. Luckily, I was checking out after two nights. I will not be returning, frequenting any Baymont properties, or recommending to anyone.

The room was very clean and spacious for a double queen. The pool was actually warm, and nice to use, with a very clean area. The staff was so friendly and accommodating to needs. We enjoyed our stay immensely. Only complaint is the price of staying at any hotel, but for the price, you get things that make for a good stay. Nice hot breakfast included.

There is a new Marriott hotel in downtown Winston-Salem, NC - the Courtyard by Marriott. Because it is new, the facilities are clean, modern, and in great shape. The bedroom is pretty spacious, and the beds were very comfortable. A two queen bed room had four, comfortable pillows for each bed. There is a Keurig coffee maker and a min-fridge in the room. The decor is attractive. Bathroom was very clean, which one would expect. The TV was large screen and HBO was included. If you have password access to Prime and Netflix, those are available as well. There is a small bar in the lobby where you can get coffee and a breakfast in the morning or drinks from 5-10 pm. There is also a roof-top bar that was nice. Parking is inexpensive in a parking deck immediately adjacent. But, there are a couple of issues: (1) our room air conditioner had a loud pitched squeal every time it came on and the fan was noisy. We had to turn it off to sleep at night, but that worked because the temps here were mild. The carpet under the unit was soaked a bit. (2) I think the tub was too shallow to take a bath, but the shower was a good one, but why have a tub if it's too shallow for a bath. A walk-in shower would have been better; (3) while it is ”downtown”, it is not right downtown like the other Marriott. Expect a four block walk at the minimum to the where the core of downtown is located. Essentially, the basics are very good, but you won't be wowed by it. Still very worth the cost for a very nice room

Filthy, musty hallways. Only good thing is clean bedding in room. Bathroom looked like a 2 year old caulked the repairs, chipped pain all over bathroom and ceiling in room. Elevator under repair, freight elevator sounded like it was ready to break. Upon arrival told pool was closed yet there were children swimming in it. Tiles in entryway to hotel all cracked and crumbling, covered over with rugs...Total tripping hazard . Neighborhood was terrible. I was actually approached by panhandler in a fast food restaurant 2 blocks away. If I hadn't been so tired (I drove quite a distance that day) we would have gone further down the road on our journey.

Outstanding
SSmithTiffanyThe place is inviting and beautiful, worth a visit. There was wonderful service and many complimentary items as well, such as breakfast, cheese and wine, and milk and cookies.
Everything was very nice especially considering the age.
What caught our attention most probably is that they have a cat, miss sally, who is just out and about, and is a sweet
little surprise
What a great place, all the staff are so warm and welcoming and up for a laugh and a chat. Miss Pat in the dining room is an absolute sweetheart in every way. My daughter loved the waffle making machine and was shown how to use it to get optimal results and told where to buy one. I understand some people stay her on business for weeks on end. I can see why, it has everything you need. For us, as a British family coming to the States for some famous Southern hospitality, this provided us with the perfect example. Thank you. :)
ZZHAOJIEAlthough it is a 20-minute drive from the high-point exhibition, this hotel is very cost-effective, parking is convenient, there are many restaurants around, and it is quiet. I recommend this hotel for business trips. And the front desk has a contact form for takeaway, very intimate!
GGuest UserThis is the place to stay in Winston Salem. My nephew who was only a day old was transferred to the NICU at at local hospital. As you can imagine my brother had a lot going on. I called the hotel and Tanya went ABOVE AND BEYOND to accommodate and help to make this horrible situation a little easier. She kept in contact with me during my brothers stay, extended his stay and the hotel even got the baby a gift that was waiting for them at check out. Everyone should take a lesson from this employee. The kindness she showed was so appreciated. There are not enough words to describe how much it meant. Thank you Tanya! She deserves a raise!
GGuest User I needed a place close to the hospital and my daughters college for her surgery. Hawthorne was the closest to both, almost within walking distance to both. I reserved our room for our stay in advance, in which I received an early bird discount. We also received another discount since we were there for the main purpose of the hospital. Due to other circumstances, the day before we were to check in, I needed to check in a day early. They were very understanding and accommodating and still gave me the same rate. The day of her surgery, we realized that our room was not going to be as accessible as we thought, so we needed to change rooms. Again, Hawthorne was very understanding and accommodating and moved us into a more comfortable room for her with no questions asked. On day of check out, we needed a late check out due to having to wait on our transportation, and again, very understanding and accommodating, no questions asked. The entire staff from Check In all the way to Maintenance were AMAZING! They went above and beyond to meet our needs, help us with my daughter and her wheelchair, and made us feel so welcome. The room was spacious, extremely clean (the entire facility was immaculate), and the beds were very comfortable. The pool area was beautiful, although closed for the season. Due to Covid, they did not have the Continental Breakfast as listed on their website, but did have a ”Grab and Go” bag with coffee and afternoon tea in the lobby area.
GGuest UserIn town for 1 night to visitan ill parent. Booked this location last minute online. We had a pet so we paid an additional $15 fee for the dog. Mattress was adequate for one nights sleep. But the room needed some housekeeping attention. The bath towels were full of hair...not ours. The vanity light and ceiling were disgustingly stained. Hotel was in no way accommodating to the comcerns. I was offered my $15 pet fee back. WHAT...my pet was not the problem. The probpem is the lack of sanitation, attention and customer service at this location. The lady who checked us out said she was going to check the towels. THEY SHOULDVE BEEN CHECKED BEFORE YOU GAVE US THE ROOM...NOT WHEN WE ARE LEAVING. Although they are independently owned I will be contacting Choice and sharing the photos.
GGuest UserChose the location due to proximity to family we were visiting. Location is great -- close to highways, mall, and lots of restaurants. Once inside, though, we were surprised at the age of the hotel and its need for updates and repairs. The elevator was small and finicky; it liked to alarm for no reason when getting in. The hallways were hot and needed vacuuming. Our room was very spacious, with the door to the hall and bathroom placed at an angle to increase accessibility. The carpet in the room was stained, there was a hole punched in the wall, mildew on the shower curtain, a pink mystery stain on the ceiling in the shower, dead insects in the ceiling light in the bathroom, no extra toilet paper (we quickly ran out), and no tissues in the built-in tissue holder on the sink. Relatives of ours in another room said their soap holder shelf in their shower was ripped out and there was a hole in its place--no covering/tape/anything. We were informed that there would be no maid service during our stay (if staying less than 7 days) due to lack of staff, so if we needed anything, you had to go to the front desk for it. Breakfast was available; the only hot items were waffles or instant grits (hot water was available). Overall, the property seemed in need of a deep clean at a minimum, or at best, an update. The price is reasonable, but I would rather pay a bit more for a better-kept property with daily maid service available.
GGuest UserThe staff is very helpful and takes great care of me! Everyone has gone above and beyond to help. I have access to laundry, dishes, full size fridge, microwave and a stovetop. This location is close to the mall and plenty of restaurants.
GGuest UserThis is a wonderful place to say besides some minor glitches. It’s now going on 24 hrs since we turned in our towels and have yet to receive fresh ones. When asked about receiving them the young lady responded with “we are out”. So we shall wait and see if we receive any today. Other then this one incident we have never had issues here before. My family and I strongly recommend staying here.!
