Golden Sun Resort - Adults Only

Grab a sun bed early I mean early!!! End of first week great hotel as always, staff were great no issues apart from at times pool music was rather loud everything you want in yours rooms daily cleaning service food was fine can be busy at times . John and Minni keep the bar flowing no long waits happy to return again P.S. room tax is 7 euros per night per room paid on arrival .

Stayed for a week at the Golden Sun with my Mum and daughters. It was our first visit to Zante and Kalamaki and we had a fabulous time and would visit again. The hotel was so clean and the gardens were beautiful. Our room was lovely and very comfortable. Food was always hot and fresh, breakfast in particular was very good. If I was being picky, there were a lot of smokers at the hotel when we stayed, I don’t think people should be able to smoke in all of the outside areas even on sun beds. Also the short breakfast time means that beds are reserved very early in the morning. The outside shower was hidden behind a wall with no sign, we only found it towards the end of our week. The pool area is lovely and as clean as the rooms. We went on 2 trips that we booked through Tui which I would highly recommended, smugglers cove and turtle spotting. We particularly loved the swimming spots, the water is beautiful and so clear!

Upon arrival we were greeted by the reception staff who were very welcoming. The hotel is very clean and our room was perfect. The hotel staff are very professional, friendly and go above and beyond to make sure your stay is enjoyable & relaxing. Really good selection of food and drinks that caters for all. Beach is only 5 minute walk away with the main ***** only 15 minute walk. We really enjoyed our stay at the Golden Sun Hotel and would highly recommend. We would definitely come back again tonight the Hotel. Thank you to all at The Golden Sun Hotel for making our stay very memorable.

Just returned from a 2 week stay at the Golden Sun. Before I say anything just wanted to point out that I am well aware that 4 stars in Greece are not the same as elsewhere in the world. Pros: Staff - excellent very friendly they work very hard and always with a smile. Our room cleaner was so lovely we gave her a little tip half way through and you would have thought I gave her the world. The whole hotel is spotless. We had a few issues which we raised over the 2 weeks and Anna on reception did her best to resolve but she can only do so much. ( See below) Entertainment - they have a Greek band on a Tuesday which is quite nice as they use the old instruments. Friday night is the Zante Belle's. Hayley and Carrie are originally from Yorkshire and put on a great show getting everyone involved and up dancing Cons: We ate out 6 nights due to the food. It was in the 1st week cold even when we went in as soon as it opened. Anna did mention this and it did get warmer but very bland, same soup at lunch and dinner. Such a shame because with a few tweaks it could be so much better Breakfast - chef frying eggs include omelette's would make more choice Lunch- more salad options or sandwich options Dinner - needs to be hot not the same food from lunch or breakfast, why would you want to eat cold carrots with a cold fried egg on top? We also had an issue with some raw chicken I did report it to reception but no one came and removed the tray needless to say a few people we spoke to had a dodgy stomach including us. If you decide to eat in Kalimaki avoid the Indian ( rude staff) and the family restaurant we walked out food was that bad but there are some lovely restaurants as mentioned on trip advisor. Outside - a major problem is the outside bar/ terrace. It is a wrap around bar which allows smoking everywhere. It would make people's enjoyment that don't smoke so much better if the section was split into 2 sides for smoking and none smoking. If you are a non smoker you don't want to be sat in the middle of a group of smokers not saying that it's wrong to smoke everyone's choice but as non smokers don't want to be breathing in their fumes. Overall if you are looking for somewhere near to restaurants, near to the airport and don't mind eating out you could do worse

Hotel was beautiful, clean, modern more than met our expectations. We had seen some negative reviews about food but food was lovely the Greek night was great. The zante girls who sang on Friday night were superb .All staff were excellent really friendly and helpful especially Dennis and Andreas on the pool bar. We had no problem getting sunbeds around the pool and they were lovely and comfortable. It was a 10 ,15 minute walk to ***** some lovely restaurants We went to Paolo lovely food and cheap. I loved the gyros from munchies,sports bar and shamrock bar were our favourites. We got the little train into Zante town had a lovely day. Brilliant holidays would definitely go back.

If you want a quiet relaxing holiday this is the place to go. Lovely hotel great staff all exceptionally helpful and friendly. Just returned from a week here and cannot fault it. I very rarely go back to the same hotel but would return to this one. It is on a flight path but flights stop at around 10pm. Very clean hotel a little surprised they are no hand sanitiser’s as you enter the restaurant. Overall very pleased with our stay

Just spent a week at the hotel the only negatives I would say is. The food is quite bland and always look warn at best. The shower room for check out clients closes at 3pm so if ur on late flight it's not really good times as its so hot ur trying to stay cool rest of day. It would be more appealing if glasses were used in the dining hall instead of plastic very off putting. On a very positive note the staff are so lovely and nothing is a bother to them. Everyone was so lovely and made you do welcome. The two guys behind the bar John and Emillie best bar staff iv come across. Such hard working and always so pleasant to everyone even at busiest times. The previous review about the hotel being terrible is accurate and correct. We came back yesterday and we're so disappointed with our stay. The hotel is nice looking with the gardens and the rooms are nice too. But that is it. The food is truly awful. We spent £700 whilst there and obviously we were AI so you don't expect to spend hundreds on top if what you've paid. We ate out most of the time because the food selection is so poor. The desserts consisted of maybe 3 or 4 options but that was it. No water if you want it with your meal. Breakfast was exactly the same every day along with boiled veg! Every AI we have been to has chefs cooking food in front of you, here you have one man frying eggs in a morning and one evening a man did gyros. That was it. The drinks were watered down and very sweet..the selection of drinks was so poor we bought them from the supermarket. No tea or coffee for the bedroom but you have a kettle and mug just nothing to put in them. The pool bar is a shocker. They don't tell you what snacks are available so you have to guess by seeing what others have which was chips and a toasted sandwich. The pool is freezing. The sea is warmer. You have to reserve a bed from 7am onwards, no joke! They will all be gone by 9am. And staff do check the beds and remove your towels and belongings if they are left long enough. So beware! Why they don't order more sun loungers to accommodate their guests is beyond me! The rooms are OK but paper thin walls so you can hear everyone who is talking outside your room. When i booked I'm sure it said you could use the A La carte restaurant next door and that there was entertainment but sadly you can't use anything next door and there is no entertainment apart from a shocking Greek 'band' one night which was dire. Oh and your on the flight path so get used to the planes flying over the hotel. Do not go to this hotel because you will be very disappointed! Even when you chat to other guests they all say the same especially about the food and drink.

Stayed here 11 nights all inclusive with my boyfriend. I was happy with the hotel, very modern, cleaned everyday, lovely walk in shower, fresh towels every day when the maids had been. However the beds are single beds put together which was annoying, they’d separate quite easy. Food was okay, an average buffet, if your fussy you will struggle, the first 4 or so nights we where chuffed. Every so often there would be a chef making the Greek Gyros. However after the 4th night we kind of got scunnered with the food, was very samey”. Drinks where filled with alcohol to the max, when we stayed there wasn’t straws so I’d PACK STRAWS because the drink measures are lethal. Snack bar never had a good selection of snacks to choose from tbh. Bar staff were nice both inside and out. The downfall experience I had was when we were told how to work the safe from one of the staff, she wasn’t pleasant. Very agitated and uprupt, didn’t explain how to use the Safe to me in an understanding way which annoyed her. Didn’t like this manner from her, we had just arrived. Overall, I was happy with our stay. The restraunts and bars on the Kalamaki Main Street is about 10/13 minutes walk away just bare this in mind.
