Motswiri Private Safari Lodge

Went to Motswiri lodge for my 18th and it was such an incredible experience. The lodge was beautiful very comfortable Staff were so welcoming and the game drivers were so friendly. We were really lucky on safari saw lots of different animals! Definitely coming again thank you for a wonderful first experience!

Couldn’t have asked for a better experience! From the minute we arrived at Motswiri the magic began, we had the most warm welcome from all staff. Elliot on safari was so incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Stone was always so happy and always went above and beyond! However, every single member of staff made our visit so special and unique. We will 100% be back, the respect of the animals was a huge priority for us and that is paramount at Motswiri. Thank you for the most magical, special and perfect trip! Becky & Ash

Looking for a Family-Safari, here you are 100% right! Great Team, small park we have seen the big 5 but without malaria risk. Just perfect! The two game drives per day is included and you shouldn‘t miss it. It is fantastic!

We had an amazing three days at Motswiri Lodge. Within one game drive alone we saw all of the big five really up close to our vehicle. We saw hyena and cheetah too Our ranger Stuart was very experienced and tracked successfully on every drive. We had delicious drinks and snacks on each drive as well as beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The Lodge itself is run very smoothly by Lisa and everything was perfect. Personal service is priority and as it’s a small intimate lodge nothing is any trouble at all. Tshepo, Petunia, Stoney and Viola looked after us well. Mavis the chef created lovely meals and desserts. I wish I could visit Motswiri ever year ! I highly recommend it!

Our stay at Motswiri exceeded what were already very high expectations. It was simply amazing from start to finish on all aspects: service, accommodation, safari drives and attention to detail. We went for my partners birthday and at the last minute had to change our travel plans by a week. The team not only accommodated us but made sure our experience was just as special by still preparing a birthday cake for my partner on the second night of our stay and giving us a complimentary bottle of SA sparkling (which we came back to in our room after the afternoon game drive) . There were many of these personal touches that made our time so enjoyable. We had a bungalow overlooking the waterhole so we saw elephants, giraffe, buffalo, etc daily. The food prepared by Mavis and the kitchen staff was delightful and every meal on the deck was special. The game drives were a real highlight and having someone as knowledgeable as Stewart as our guide was a huge bonus. We saw the big 5 and much more with the real highlight being able to spend 30 mins a few metres from a pride of lions on thé first morning. A big big thank you to all the Motswiri staff - we will be back!

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights. This was our 5th visit to Madikwe. Everytime a different lodge. Motswiri was beautiful, very intimate. We had a lovely time, with very attentive, friendly manager and staff. Our ranger, Barry, was really friendly and fun to be around. Food was excellent, compliments to the chef. Our room was really clean and wonderfully warm with aircon and fireplace lit every night. Overall a great experience!

Absolutely brilliant and worth the money! Everything was perfect - the accommodation (with a busy watering hole right outside our front door), the food, the attentive staff, the game drives, Barry the safari guide, the fire places, all perfect.

Wonderful located resort with beautiful bungalows nestled in a pristine nature with a unique view at the waterhole where you have a lot of game during the whole day (especially elephants). The game drives are outstanding thanks to Elliot, a very experienced, sympathetic and unique guide. The food is ordinary, although the price for the rooms are in the upper category you pay extra for every sparkling water, wine or drinks, even as "sundowner".The rooms are big, but unfortunately not as clean as one expect from a five star resort. Dirty socks from previous guests, half dead insects on the floor, not cleaned toothbrush glasses, leaking bathtub and a dripping toilet. No refill of tea or cotton pads and buds. Overall a beautiful but overpriced place.

We went to Madikwe years ago and it suited us well. That's why we came back. The lodge itself is fine. Our ranger Elliot was very informative and relaxed. The food was also fine. However, the staff is somewhat inexperienced and not really thinking along. A manager was therefore very much missed. At checkout, our mineral water was charged that we had used with dinner. Not a problem in itself, but the mineral water we used during the safaris was free. Remarkable! The "assistant manager" explained that the brand of mineral water served with the meal was more expensive. We were never asked which brand of mineral water we would like. This is only a minor detail, but for a lodge with 5 * and in this price category you can expect that at least the mineral water is included. The assistant manager was also barely present/visible and a real manager was sorely missed. We would like to go back to Madikwe but next time we will choose a different lodge. Only for ranger Elliot we would like to come back :)
