Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Tarragona (Region) The ruins date back to the first and fifth centuries AD. This is a great example of a luxurious villa, mainly because of the unearthed objects such as marble fragments, sculptures, frescoes, etc. It was built for the imperial officials in charge of administering the province of Tarakonesis. This is also where the provincial governor Caius Valerius Avitus lived. The city was abandoned between the sixth and seventh centuries. Serra Vilaró and Sánchez Real began excavation work in 1967. It is part of the Tarraco Monumental Complex, declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Theatrical guided tours are offered in the summer, with Caius and Faustina taking visitors on a tour of the villa. #FebruaryDestinations2025 #SpainTravel #Catalonia

Spanish Mediterranean Coast Tour ~ Tarragona (Region) The medieval part of the town is surrounded by a wall - the Vila Closa - which has been declared a National Heritage Site. Its artistic heritage also includes the medieval castle, the Church of St. Martí, the remains of the city walls and the town hall. Also worth mentioning is the Abbey of Saint-Antoine and the fishing community of Les Botigues de Mar, which, facing the sea, had a row of small warehouses built for fishermen; these were later converted into residences. It is highly recommended that you visit Vila Romana de Els Munts, part of the Tarraco Romana archaeological complex, declared a World Heritage Site. #FebruaryDestinations2025 #SpainTravel #Catalonia

#myhiddengems travel less than an hour outside Barcelona by train and you will fine beautiful beaches and fantastic restaurants in Altafulla

Altafulla is a coastal town 1 hour south from Barcelona. The many hotel and resorts that have developed near the beach are full with tourists. What not many people venture to do is exploring the old town, up in the mountain, and they are definitely missing on something. Hidden behind the narrow, cobblestone-peddled streets of Old Altafulla there is Hotel Gran Claustre. A boutique property in a historical landmark next to the main abbey of the village. Decoration is delicately chosen, rooms are clean and comfortable, the swimming pool is a great chill corner of peace and the breakfast is varied and with great service. This hotel caters to the tourists who prefer to drive away from busy beaches and packed summer terraces, and rather enjoy a more upscale experience with heritage touch and a small spa. #hotelstaycation
