The Anping Marquis Tomb Site Exhibition at Anfu Museum is the museum’s highlight, featuring a unique combined tomb and museum display model. The site is located in the Fengshan area north of Anfu County. In August 2019, during construction, a “jia”-shaped vertical pit wooden coffin tomb from the middle to late Western Han period was discovered. After evaluation by cultural relic experts from inside and outside the province, and based on the tomb’s structure, scale, and unearthed artifacts, it was confirmed that the tomb owner was Liu Xi, the first-generation Anping Marquis of the Western Han. Liu Xi was enfeoffed in the first year of Emperor Yuan’s reign (48 BC), and his fief was located in the then Anping County (now within Anfu County). This discovery provides an important benchmark for studying the burial customs and regulations of high-ranking tombs in Western Han Jiangxi.‌ Anfu County Museum began construction in 2022 on the original tomb site, adopting an “in situ protection and on-site display” approach. ‌Authentic site presentation‌: In the Han tomb site exhibition hall “Archaeological Excavation · Underground Spring and Autumn,” the original tomb pit’s soil sealing layer is preserved, allowing visitors to directly see the tomb pit structure after excavation. ‌Immersive scene restoration‌: Around the tomb pit, the museum has recreated models of the Anping Marquis’s life scenes, including clothing, food, housing, transportation, and entertainment. The egg pancake portion is enough for one person to eat. The crust is still delicious when you take it home and it won't get hard. It's worth visiting again when you have time.
