Baofeng travel guide and discussion

Pingdingshan might sound a bit "hardcore," but once you step inside, you'll discover a hidden world of scenic wonderlands, ancient temples, and mouthwatering food. Known as the "Eagle City," it combines the ruggedness of the north with the profound history of the Central Plains. It's also incredibly budget-friendly, making it the perfect destination for a spontaneous trip to a "hidden gem" city. Pingdingshan's attractions are spread out and can be broadly categorized into natural landscapes and cultural history. If you're short on time, consider prioritizing the following spots. Natural landscapes Yaoshan (Shiren Mountain) Scenic Area This is Pingdingshan's signature 5A-rated scenic spot and one of the ten most beautiful mountains in Henan. Yaoshan combines "majesty, danger, beauty, wonder, and seclusion." Experts have described it as having "the danger of Huashan, the steepness of Emei, the beauty of Zhangjiajie, and the elegance of Huangshan." You can take a cable car up to see the strange peaks and rocks along the way. If you're lucky enough to catch the sea of clouds, you'll feel like you're in a fairyland. In summer, you can also experience the thrilling Yaoshan Grand Canyon rafting—a 9 km course with a 150-meter drop that's perfect for cooling off. Baigui Lake National Wetland Park For a taste of Pingdingshan's "poetry and distance," come to Baigui Lake. It's an artificial lake, but the scenery is vast and open, making it a favorite leisure spot for locals. The lake is expansive and perfect for walking or cycling, and the sunset views in the evening are especially relaxing. It's famous for scenes like "Baigui Gazing at the Moon" and "Yingxiang Fishing Songs," and admission is free. Huamei Valley & Dengtaijia If you prefer quieter valley scenery, consider these two places. Huamei Valley is named after the many thrush birds that inhabit it, and it's known as a "miniature Three Gorges" with its interplay of strange peaks, rocks, clear streams, and green pools. Dengtaijia is named for its main peak, which resembles an ancient lamp stand, and is known for its green mountains and flying springs. Cultural history Xiangshan Temple This is the birthplace of Han-style Guanyin culture. With a history of over 1,800 years, it holds a unique status in Buddhist history. The Guanyin Dashi Pagoda within the temple dates back to the Song Dynasty, and climbing to the top offers a panoramic view of the city. It's a popular spot for incense offerings with a serene environment, and admission is only CNY 5, offering great value. Fengxue Temple Located in Ruzhou, this is one of the four great temples in Henan, alongside the Shaolin Temple, White Horse Temple, and Xiangguo Temple. Founded in the Northern Wei Dynasty, it has a history of over 1,500 years. Compared to the bustle of the Shaolin Temple, Fengxue Temple is much quieter, tucked away in the mountains with charming ancient pagodas and halls. Best of all, it's free to visit. Sansu Garden Located in Jiaxian, this is the cemetery of the great Northern Song Dynasty writers Su Shi and Su Zhe, as well as the cenotaph of their father, Su Xun. With a history of nearly 900 years, it's a meaningful pilgrimage site for those who love Dongpo culture. The environment is serene, with ancient cypresses and red walls, perfect for a quiet stroll. Admission is about CNY 40. Ru Porcelain Town & Qingliang Temple Ru Official Kiln Site Pingdingshan is the hometown of "Ru porcelain," the first of the five great porcelains of the Song Dynasty. In Ruzhou's Ru Porcelain Town, you can visit the Celadon Museum, see master workshops, and even try your hand at throwing and painting pottery to experience the charm of the thousand-year-old kiln fires. If you're interested in archaeology, the Qingliang Temple Ru Official Kiln Site in Baofeng is a great place to explore the origins of Ru porcelain. 🍜 Must-eat food: From signature noodles to intangible cultural heritage snacks Pingdingshan's food has distinct Central Plains characteristics—hearty, flavorful, and affordable. Jiaxian Hele Noodles This is Pingdingshan's signature noodle dish, loved by almost every local. Made fresh from buckwheat flour, the noodles are chewy and smooth. They are served in a rich, savory lamb broth, topped with green onions and chili oil, and paired with a freshly baked lamb flatbread. One bite and the flavor will "tingle to the top of your head." The average cost at a main branch in the city is only about CNY 18. Lushan Languo Cai A very "hardcore" Henan home-style dish, similar to a stew. Pork belly, meatballs, vermicelli, tofu, and other ingredients are stewed together, making it flavorful and perfect with rice. A small portion at a night market costs only CNY 15, which is very affordable. Lamb Chong Soup (Baofeng) This is a specialty of Baofeng County. Unlike regular lamb soup, it involves a "chong" (flushing) process: boiling hot broth is repeatedly poured over the lamb in the bowl. This makes the soup rich and mellow without any gamey smell. A bowl in winter will warm you right up. Yexian Qiangguo Braised Noodles Braised noodles are a Henan specialty, but Yexian's version is unique. The core is the "qiangguo" (sautéing) technique: raw lamb is first stir-fried in a hot pot to release its aroma, then broth is added to cook the noodles. This gives the base a much richer flavor than standard braised noodles. Niupi Huoshao This is a unique intangible cultural heritage food from Pingdingshan, born in coal mines. It was originally created for miners to carry easily and replenish their energy. The dough is stuffed with marinated meat, then baked until crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, golden and shiny. It's very chewy, and its name comes from its resemblance to cowhide. Other things worth trying Wugang Mohu: A unique farm-style snack from Wugang made with corn, soybeans, wheat, etc., with a rich, fragrant taste. Ruzhou Guokui: Also known as "pot helmet" bread, it's rectangular and pillow-shaped, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. It's a local intangible cultural heritage noodle food. Hu-la Soup and Pan-fried Buns: Classic Henan breakfast staples, commonly found on the streets of Pingdingshan. 🗺️ Suggested itinerary Pingdingshan's attractions are scattered, so a 3-day, 2-night trip is a comfortable arrangement. Day 1: Initial experience of city culture and food Morning: Visit the Pingdingshan Museum (free) to learn about the history of the Eagle City. Noon: Head straight to the main branch of Jiaxian Hele Noodles for their signature dish. Afternoon: Visit Xiangshan Temple. Evening: Go to the Heping Road Pedestrian Street night market and eat your way from one end to the other—don't miss the Languo Cai, grilled gluten, and rolled pancakes. Day 2: Natural wonders of Yaoshan Hire a car or drive to the Yaoshan Scenic Area (about 1.5 hours), take the cable car up to see the strange peaks and sea of clouds. Noon: Eat at a farmhouse at the foot of the mountain—try the stir-fried eggs with wild vegetables, stewed free-range chicken, and acorn jelly. The ingredients are fresh, and you can have a very satisfying meal for about CNY 40 per person. If visiting in summer, you can experience the Yaoshan Grand Canyon rafting in the afternoon. Evening: Stay at the Xiatang Hot Spring Resort and soak in a hot spring to relieve fatigue. Day 3: Ceramic culture or Sansu heritage Choose one based on your interests: Ceramic route: Go to Ruzhou Ru Porcelain Town, visit the museum, experience pottery throwing, and then visit the Qingliang Temple Ru Official Kiln Site to feel the cultural heritage of Song porcelain. Sansu route: Head to Jiaxian Sansu Garden, take a quiet stroll in the final resting place of Mr. Dongpo, and then visit the Jiaxian Confucian Temple to experience the heritage of ancient architecture. 💡 Practical tips Transportation: High-speed rail is available to Pingdingshan West Station. For distant attractions like Yaoshan and the Central Plains Buddha, it is recommended to drive or hire a car; there are also direct tourist buses. Ticket reference: Yaoshan CNY 65, Central Plains Buddha CNY 120, Sansu Garden CNY 40, Xiangshan Temple CNY 5. Fengxue Temple, the museum, and Baigui Lake are free. Students, teachers, and others often get half-price discounts, so keep an eye on official information before you travel. Best season: April to October are all suitable. See azaleas in spring, red leaves in autumn, and enjoy the cool water in summer.

(Clickbait warning!!! It's actually a recommendation!) For those who want to avoid the crowds, you should definitely check out Pingdingshan! It has both majestic mountains with a sea of clouds and the Zen atmosphere of ancient temples. It offers a great mix of nature and culture, is budget-friendly, and isn't crowded, making it perfect for a short weekend getaway. 🌿 Why visit Pingdingshan It's not a trendy, popular city, but it hides some of the best scenery in the Central Plains. You can hike Yaoshan to see the sea of clouds and unique peaks, visit ancient temples for peace of mind, and enjoy free lake views for relaxing or camping. Whether you're hiking, praying for blessings, or just relaxing with the kids, it covers everything and offers great value. 📅 Best time to visit ✅ Spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) are the best choices! In spring, the mountains are covered in flowers; in autumn, the red leaves on Yaoshan create an incredible atmosphere. Summer is cool for escaping the heat, and winter offers rime ice views—choose based on your preference. 📍 Must-visit attractions 1️⃣ Yaoshan Scenic Area (5A) Pingdingshan's top attraction! A must-visit! Check out the Qinglongbei ridge boardwalk, Jiuqu Waterfall, and Yuhuangding. If you're lucky after the rain, you might see a sea of clouds. If you're not feeling up for a strenuous hike, I recommend taking the cable car, otherwise, your legs will be sore. The autumn red leaves are stunning. 2️⃣ Xiangshan Temple Scenic Area The ancestral home of Guanyin, and it's a great deal! Tickets are only 5 yuan. It's not very commercialized, and the ancient trees and red walls are perfect for photos. It's a great place to stroll, clear your mind, and relax. Don't forget to see the national treasure, the Cai Jing Stele. 3️⃣ Baigui Lake Wetland Park Free! A healing spot kept secret by locals. Day 2 | Culture + relaxation Morning: Take a slow stroll through Xiangshan Temple, soak in the Zen atmosphere, and take some great photos. Afternoon: Head to Baigui Lake Wetland Park, walk by the lake to catch the sunset, enjoy the breeze, and wrap up your trip before heading home. 💡 Tips 1. Hiking Yaoshan is physically demanding! Wear comfortable shoes and bring water and snacks. I recommend buying a cable car ticket to save a lot of energy. 2. Don't miss the local food: Lushan Lan Guo Cai and Jiaxian Hele noodles. They have an authentic local vibe. 3. Xiangshan Temple is quiet and uncrowded, perfect for those who want to get away from the hustle and bustle. The overall pace is balanced, allowing you to experience the grandeur of the mountains while being healed by the ancient temples and lake views. Avoid the crowds and enjoy a perfect weekend getaway.

For this business trip to Pingdingshan, I booked the Runzeyuan Shenma Hotel near Yingcheng Square. It was a direct taxi ride from Pingdingshan West Station. When I checked in, the front desk staff saw I was in a rush with my briefcase and promptly assigned me a room on a good floor—very efficient. The room wasn't ultra-modern, but the desk and bed frame were clean, the mattress firmness was just right, and the hallway was quiet at night, so I could get a solid night's sleep after a busy day. Since I had to meet clients the next day, the front desk also stored my luggage, saving me the hassle of carrying it around. Breakfast is a real plus here; the selection of congee, rice noodles, and pastries is quite complete, and they even have a few local hot dishes, which gave me plenty of energy for the day. You can even order late-night snacks when you get back to the hotel, which is thoughtful for those arriving on late trains. The parking lot is large, making it stress-free if you drive yourself. The route from the hotel to my clients the next day was smooth and hassle-free, saving me enough time to sleep in for an extra 30 minutes. I snuck out for a break between meetings. Baigui Lake National Wetland Park isn't far from the hotel. The breeze over the lake on an early autumn afternoon was gentle. Walking along the wooden boardwalk helped me relax. I could watch the water birds flying low for hours without getting bored, and there were people on the shore waiting patiently with their fishing rods. The Pingdingshan Museum is also nearby. It clearly explains the city's history from the ancient Ying State to the present day, and it's well air-conditioned—a perfect place to rest your feet when you're tired of walking. If you want to see old architecture, head to Xiangshan Temple, said to be the ancestral temple of Guanyin. The courtyards are quiet and filled with the scent of incense—perfect for a slow, contemplative walk. The sound of the morning bell is incredibly peaceful. On the way back, I stopped by Yingcheng Square. As the lights came on in the evening, local residents were out for walks and dancing, giving the place a lively, authentic atmosphere. I found a small shop across the street serving Jiaxian Hele noodles. The thick noodles with lamb soup warmed me right up. I also had a serving of Lushan Languo dish—savory and perfect with rice. I was very satisfied with the food on this trip. Next time I'm in Pingdingshan for business, I'll likely stay here again. The location, parking, and breakfast hit all the essentials, allowing me to save my energy for work. When the ginkgo trees turn yellow in autumn, I plan to bring my family back to visit Baigui Lake.

I just returned from a trip to Pingdingshan. To be honest, this city has a lot of depth, with mountains, water, and rich history. But if you come in September–October without doing your homework, it's very easy to get exhausted and stressed out 😭. I've put together a real, tested guide, so if you're planning to travel during this time, be sure to read this before you head out 📝 🏯 Must-visit attractions | Attraction highlights Yaoshan (Shiren Mountain) ⛰️ Pingdingshan's premier mountain scenic area and a well-known mountain in the Central Plains. With strange peaks, bizarre rocks, waterfalls, and streams, the autumn forest is a tapestry of red, yellow, and green, making the autumn scenery particularly stunning. The view from the top is expansive, and you can overlook the rolling mountains. However, there is a significant elevation change, and the temperature difference between the top and bottom of the mountain is very noticeable. Hiking consumes quite a bit of energy. Sansu Garden 📜 A park commemorating the three Su family members—Su Shi, Su Zhe, and Su Xun—and their final resting place. With ancient-style courtyards, stone inscriptions, and a memorial hall, it is full of literary atmosphere. There are many ancient trees in the park. In September–October, as the autumn wind blows, fallen leaves cover the courtyards. It is quiet and suitable for those who love history and classical literature to stroll slowly. Xiangshan Temple 🏮 A thousand-year-old temple with simple, grand architecture and a serene atmosphere. The ancient cypress trees in the courtyard and the red walls against the autumn trees make for great photos. Far from the hustle and bustle of the city, it is not crowded, making it a comfortable place to wander and relax. Fengxue Temple 🌳 A rare ancient temple in the Central Plains that does not charge an admission ticket. It dates back over a thousand years, and the pagoda forest and ancient halls inside are well-preserved. Hidden in the mountains and forests, the environment is secluded. The ancient temple, clear springs, and old trees blend together, creating a perfect autumn vibe that locals love. Baigui Lake National Wetland Park 🌊 A free wetland park in the city with an expansive lake surface and a long trail around the lake. In autumn, the reeds turn yellow, making it perfect for walking, catching a breeze, and watching the sunset. It's free and just right for relaxation. Apozhai 🏔️ Mountain scenery with Great Wall-style walkways. It's great for hiking and enjoying the autumn mountain views, perfect for those who love outdoor trekking. 🗺️ Classic itinerary | 4 days and 3 nights (September–October autumn version) Day 1: Arrive in downtown Pingdingshan, visit Baigui Lake Wetland Park in the afternoon, and have local food in the city in the evening to rest and adjust. Day 2: Full day at Yaoshan Scenic Area to see the autumn colors of the strange peaks. Take the cable car to save energy, and return to the city or stay in Yaoshan Town in the evening. Day 3: Experience the history of Song Dynasty scholars at Sansu Garden, then head to Fengxue Temple to visit the thousand-year-old temple and feel the quiet of the mountain forest. Day 4: Wander around Xiangshan Temple, explore the old town to eat and buy souvenirs, then head home. 👉 Simplified 2-day version D1: One-day trip to Yaoshan to experience the autumn scenery of the Central Plains mountains. D2: Sansu Garden + Fengxue Temple, a route focused on humanities and ancient architecture. ⚠️ Travel tips to avoid pitfalls (Exclusive to September–October ❗) 1. September–October is the peak season for Yaoshan's autumn scenery, and the number of tourists surges on weekends. Try to travel on weekdays, go up the mountain early, and avoid the midday crowds. The cable car queue on the mountain can be very long during holidays, so reserve enough waiting time and don't arrive at the last minute. 2. The temperature difference between the top and bottom of the mountain is a trap! The temperature in the city is comfortable, but it is windy and cold at the top of Yaoshan. Many people go up wearing only thin clothes and end up freezing. Do not judge the weather on the mountain based on the city temperature. 3. The attractions are scattered! Yaoshan, Sansu Garden, and Fengxue Temple are far from each other and not in the same area. Public transport is infrequent, and transferring takes a lot of time. It is not recommended to rely entirely on buses; self-driving or chartering a car is preferred. 4. Do not easily trust low-priced one-day mountain tours on the side of the road. Many small groups will take you to shopping spots. Try to choose official channels. 5. In early September, the leaves in the mountains have not turned red on a large scale. If you want to see the spectacular autumn colors, try to come in mid-to-late October. Don't have too high expectations for the autumn scenery in early September. 6. Prices at small shops in the mountain scenic areas are relatively high. Prepare drinking water, chocolate, and other energy snacks before entering the mountain to reduce your load. 7. Fengxue Temple is free, but parking spaces are tight during holidays, and it is easy to not find a spot if you arrive late. It is recommended to hire a guide for Sansu Garden, otherwise, you might not understand much of the historical background. 💡 Travel tips ✅ Clothing: The temperature difference between day and night is large in September–October. Bring a long-sleeved jacket for the city, and be sure to bring a windbreaker or a thin down jacket for Yaoshan. There is a lot of walking and hiking, so wear non-slip and comfortable sports shoes 👟. The ultraviolet rays in the mountains are strong, so prepare a hat and sunscreen. ✅ Transportation: Taxis are convenient within the city. If you want to visit surrounding mountain and cultural attractions, self-driving is the most worry-free way. Public transport takes a long time, and the interval between buses in many places is very long. ✅ Must-try food: Lushan Languo Cai (stewed dish), Hele noodles, Pingdingshan tofu dishes, and Ruzhou fenpi (starch noodles). Look for small shops often frequented by locals for authentic and affordable flavors. ✅ Accommodation: If visiting Yaoshan, you can stay in Yaoshan Town, which is close to the scenic area. For cultural attractions, stay in downtown Pingdingshan, where there are more dining options. ✅ Mindset: Pingdingshan is suitable for slow travel; don't pack your itinerary too full. Running between attractions is exhausting, so prioritize what you want to see and don't feel the need to check off everything. 💭 Summary Pingdingshan is actually an underestimated city by many. It has both the majestic autumn scenery of the Central Plains mountains and the culture of the three Sus and thousand-year-old temples—it has both humanities and landscapes 🍂. But I really don't recommend coming here rashly in September–October without a plan. Scattered attractions, the huge temperature difference at the top of Yaoshan, and the crowds on weekends are all real problems that will affect your experience. If your schedule is flexible, prioritize coming on weekdays in mid-to-late October. You can encounter the full autumn scenery and avoid large crowds of tourists. If you like landscapes and history, and you plan your trip well, Pingdingshan will give you quite a surprise.

I. Pingdingshan's 4 top attractions (scenery + culture, perfect for September autumn) 1. Yaoshan Scenic Area (5A) | Yaoshan Town, Lushan County Best for autumn scenery in September, with early red leaves and frequent cloud seas. The Qinglongbei cliff boardwalk, climbing Yuhuangding (Jade Emperor Peak), and the Jiuqu Waterfall make it the top choice for hiking. 2. Zhongyuan Buddha Scenic Area | Shangtang Village, Lushan County Home to the world's tallest bronze standing Buddha at 208 meters, backed by the Yaoshan mountains. September offers crisp autumn air, providing clear views for climbing and paying respects to the Buddha. You can embrace the Buddha's feet for blessings. It's on the way to Yaoshan, so they can be visited together. 3. Sansu Garden (4A) | Ciba Town, Jia County The cemetery of the "Three Sus," featuring ancient cypress trees and stone tablets. It has a rich literary atmosphere. With fewer tourists in September, the autumn scenery is serene, perfect for quietly reflecting on Song Dynasty history and culture. 4. Xiangshan Temple (Ancestral Temple of Guanyin) | Daxiangshan Road, Baofeng County A thousand-year-old temple from the Eastern Han Dynasty and a sacred site for Guanyin. It features serene bamboo forests and numerous ancient stone tablets. It is not very commercialized, making it full of Zen atmosphere in autumn. II. Complete 2-day, 1-night September autumn road trip guide (dining + accommodation + travel + tickets + outfits + tips) (I) Pre-trip preparation (exclusive to September) 1. Weather & outfits (most important) · City temperature: 25–30℃; Yaoshan mountain area has a day-night temperature difference of 12℃+, with temperatures at the summit dropping to 14–16℃ at night, accompanied by strong winds and fog. · Outfits: Short sleeves + thin windbreaker/knit jacket + long pants + non-slip hiking shoes. · Essentials: Sunscreen, umbrella, thin jacket (essential for watching the sunset), mosquito repellent. · Note: All rafting activities are suspended in September. Focus on hiking and enjoying the autumn scenery; no need to bring water play gear. 2. Transportation (self-driving preferred) ✅ Self-driving (preferred): The entire route is via highway. The route from Lushan → Jia County → Baofeng is smooth, and you won't need to backtrack. There are many curves when driving down from Yaoshan; do not drive into the mountains at night. ✅ Public transport: Take the high-speed train to Pingdingshan West Station, then take a taxi to the scenic areas. There are very few shuttle buses between attractions, so independent travel is not recommended. 3. Tickets (cheaper if booked online in advance) 1. Yaoshan: Admission CNY 65 + scenic transport CNY 35; cable car is CNY 80 one-way, CNY 150 round-trip (if you have average stamina, taking the cable car up is a must). 2. Zhongyuan Buddha: Adult ticket is about CNY 35; there is an extra charge for the elevator to the Buddha's feet. 3. Sansu Garden: Admission CNY 20. 4. Xiangshan Temple: Admission is only CNY 5, offering great value. (II) Itinerary (scenery route on day 1, cultural route on day 2) Day 1 Lushan scenery route: Zhongyuan Buddha → Yaoshan, stay at a homestay at the foot of Yaoshan Morning 8:30 AM–12:00 PM | Zhongyuan Buddha Scenic Area (3 hours) Start early to avoid tour groups. Visit the giant bronze Buddha, climb to the lotus pedestal to embrace the Buddha's feet, ring the auspicious bell, and gaze out at the autumn mountains of Yaoshan. The light mist creates a great atmosphere. Lunch + accommodation (all-in-one, recommended) ✅ Recommended: Yaoshan Yujianni Homestay 📍 Located in Shangtang Village, Zhaocun Town, Lushan County, just 2.3 km from the Buddha. It has an elevator, is clean and hygienic, and offers free parking. Signature dishes include firewood-braised chicken with sauce, wild mountain vegetables, and stir-fried meat with wild mushrooms. Farmhouse breakfast is included in the room rate. It's a one-stop shop for dining and accommodation, so you don't need to look for restaurants. ✅ Alternative: Yaoshan Jukelai Homestay Features smart rooms throughout. Also located near the Buddha. The "diguo" chicken (pot-cooked chicken) and "languo" vegetable stew are authentic. Great value, suitable for young travelers. Afternoon 1:30 PM–6:00 PM | Yaoshan Scenic Area (20-minute drive) Route: Scenic shuttle bus → cable car up → Qinglongbei cliff boardwalk → Yuhuangding (Jade Emperor Peak). Wait for the sunset at the summit in the evening. On sunny days in September, you are very likely to see a sea of clouds. The red leaves and autumn scenery are perfect for photos. ⚠️ Be sure to descend before 5:00 PM. It gets foggy in the mountains in the evening, and the mountain roads are unsafe. Accommodation: Continue staying at the same homestay to save the trouble of returning to the city. Day 2 Cultural heritage route: Sansu Garden → Xiangshan Temple, return trip Morning 8:30 AM–12:00 PM | Jia County Sansu Garden (1.5-hour drive from Yaoshan) Spend 2 hours visiting the Sansu cemetery and the Dongpo stele forest. It's quiet with few people, allowing you to immerse yourself in Song Dynasty poetry culture. It's great for taking photos in traditional style. Lunch (near the scenic area) ✅ Weifeng Xincun Restaurant, just 2 km from Sansu Garden. Authentic farmhouse dishes, affordable and good value. Must-try: Jia County lamb heluo noodles, local steamed bowl dishes (kouwan), and lamb flatbread. Afternoon 2:00 PM–4:30 PM | Baofeng Xiangshan Temple (40-minute drive from Jia County) Spend 2 hours here. Free parking. The ancient temple and bamboo forest are serene. Visit the Guanyin Pagoda and ancient Song Dynasty stone tablets. It's full of Zen atmosphere, a relaxing way to end the trip. Dinner alternative (at the entrance of Xiangshan Temple) ✅ Lianhua Villa, just 200m from the east gate of Xiangshan Temple. The pot-cooked stir-fried chicken and iron-pot stewed chicken are generous in portion. The farmhouse dishes are authentic. You can dine right after visiting the temple. (III) September autumn travel tips 1. Scenery advantage: September is the golden season for autumn travel in Yaoshan. You avoid the summer crowds, the temperature is comfortable, the red leaves are just starting to appear, and cloud seas are frequent. It is one of the best times of the year for hiking. 2. Accommodation booking: Homestays in Lushan are in high demand on weekends; be sure to book 2 days in advance. Prioritize farmhouse homestays that offer both dining and accommodation to save time and worry. 3. Hiking pace: Try to enter Yaoshan early. It gets foggy in the mountains in the afternoon, which will block your view. If you have limited stamina, take the cable car up and down; do not hike the whole way. 4. Must-eat food list · Lushan: Firewood-cooked pot chicken, Lushan "languo" vegetable stew, wild mountain vegetables · Jia County: Lamb heluo noodles, lamb flatbread, red beef · Baofeng: Iron-pot stew, farmhouse steamed bowl dishes (kouwan), pot-cooked stir-fried chicken 5. Self-driving safety: There are many continuous curves when driving down from Yaoshan. The road is slippery when it rains. Do not drive into the mountains at night.

I really advise everyone not to visit Pingdingshan in Sep or Oct lightly🍂! It's not that it's not fun. Autumn in Pingdingshan is overwhelmingly gentle✨. The temperature, scenery, and pace are all just right, and once you've been, you'll truly miss it and won't want to return😭! I put together a hands-on autumn guide based on my own visits, all down-to-earth, real experiences. The pace is relaxed and unhurried, so even first-timers can easily enjoy it✅ 🌤️Sep–Oct weather in Pingdingshan You finally leave behind summer's stifling heat🥵. In autumn, temperatures stay around 15–25°C🌬️ — not too hot or dry, with a refreshing, healing breeze. There's no plum-rain season's damp rain⛈️, and no winter's bitter cold❄️, so it feels extremely comfortable. One small thing: mountain areas have a big temperature difference between morning and night🧥. Noon is warm enough for short sleeves☀️, while mornings and evenings are noticeably cool. Simple layered outfits work well, so you don't need to bring heavy luggage🎒. The whole city has a gentle, laid-back vibe, perfect for a short, relaxing escape. 🏞️4 must-visit autumn routes (no misses) 🍁Mountain-lake red-leaf healing route | Yaoshan + Huamei Valley In Sep the forests are lush and green🌿, and in Oct they slowly turn gradient red🍁, with layered peaks creating a beautiful pattern. The autumn mountain-and-water atmosphere is fully on point. Mountain streams are clear and tinkling💦, the air is fresh and full of negative ions, and the hikes aren't very difficult🥾 — walking while taking in the views is super stress-relieving. 🪨Tips: the mountain paths are gentle and easy to walk, so wear non-slip sneakers👟. It's windy at the summit, so bring a thin jacket for wind protection. 🏺Millennia-old intangible cultural heritage route | Ru porcelain town + Qingliang Temple's Ru ware official kiln Autumn light is soft and warm☀️, making it ideal for slowly touring heritage sites🏛️. Experience up close the millennia-old kiln tradition of Ru porcelain🔥, see the delicate crazing on the ceramics — quiet and full of texture. Avoid summer sun and take your time through the exhibits to learn the craft; it's healing and eye-opening. 📜Ancient-style calming leisure route | Sansu Garden + Fengxue Temple The autumn atmosphere of the old courtyards is amazing🏮 — ancient pines are verdant, courtyards are tranquil, and red walls and dark tiles glow in the autumn sun🍂. It's serene and elegant. No need to force a photo op; just wander the old alleys and immerse yourself in Dongpo's cultural heritage. It's perfect for calming the mind, relaxing, and slow-paced exploration. 🌊City waterside relaxing route | Baigui Lake Wetland Park A natural oxygen bar in the city🌿. In autumn the reeds sway gently🌾, the lake glitters softly💧, and the evening breeze is cool and comfortable. You can walk or bike🚲, sit by the lake and daydream, and the sunset glow at dusk is super gentle🌆 — every snap looks great. 🎒Sep–Oct travel tips 1. clothing suggestion👕: short sleeves plus a thin windbreaker/knit cardigan layered together to handle temperature changes all day — simple, comfortable, and photogenic. 2. essentials to carry✨: lightweight sunscreen, a compact umbrella, and a small bottle of insect repellent. There can be some mosquitoes in mountain areas in autumn, so it's more reassuring to be prepared. 3. itinerary planning⏰: no need to get up early and rush. Visit cultural sites in the morning, enjoy mountains and water in the afternoon, and watch the lakeside sunset in the evening for a relaxed, unexhausting day. 4. food recommendations🥢: local home-style dishes are light and tasty, ingredients are fresh, and value for money is high. After a day of exploring, a meal will be extremely satisfying. 5. avoid pitfalls💡: mountain weather changes quickly — don't enter the mountains late at night, hike within your limits, and stick to official trails for safety✅. I really love Pingdingshan's autumn🍁! There are no crushing crowds, and no extremes of heat or cold — just gentle winds, healing landscapes, and deep cultural heritage. Anyone who's been here will understand: the comfort here isn't an internet-famous filter📸, it's genuine relaxation and ease. No wonder visitors don't want to leave; they want to keep the gentle autumn moments in this small city🌷.

Pingdingshan is truly an underrated gem! I visited 4 times between September and October. The red leaves at Yaoshan left me speechless, and the sunset at Baigui Lake was legendary. The local food is so good you'll eat until you're stuffed, and the prices are amazing. I've poured all my lessons learned and favorite finds into this post—just follow my lead! · -- 🍜 Food (no exaggeration, I gained 5 lbs after this trip) Jiaxian Heluo noodles are a must! The freshly pressed buckwheat noodles are chewy and smooth, the mutton soup is incredibly savory, and paired with a freshly baked mutton bun, it's absolutely heavenly. The Jiaxian tofu dish is also amazing—local tender tofu with sweet potato vermicelli, slow-cooked in a spicy mutton bone broth. Locals pack the place by 7:00 AM. Lushan Languo vegetable stew is a one-pot dish of pork belly, tofu, and vermicelli; you can eat your fill for CNY 20–30 per person. The night market on Heping Road in the city center has endless options—grilled gluten, Luomo wraps, stir-fried rice noodles, just go for it. Also, be sure to try the local Yinmei Cola; it's great for cutting through spice and grease. 📍 Places to visit (tested and approved) Yaoshan Scenic Area—the star attraction of Pingdingshan! From late September to mid-November, the red leaves cover the mountains. Take the cable car up to see the sea of clouds. Standing on Qinglong Ridge with cliffs on both sides might make your legs weak, but the view is incredible. Central Plains Buddha—the world's tallest bronze Buddha at 208 meters; it's said to be very effective to pray for blessings here. Baigui Lake Wetland Park is free. Go to the Broken Bridge between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to photograph the sunset; flocks of seagulls circle in the sunset, and wearing light-colored clothes makes for better photos. Xiangshan Temple is the birthplace of Han Chinese Guanyin culture; climb to the top for a panoramic view of the city. Pingdingshan Museum is free and features stunning authentic Ru porcelain. Fengxue Temple is much quieter than Shaolin Temple, and the Tang Dynasty Qizu Pagoda and Song Dynasty Hanging Bell Pavilion are still standing. 🏠 Where to stay For hot springs, stay at Yaoshan Fuquan Hotel or Xiatang Hot Spring Resort, where you can enjoy private hot spring water in your room. For better value, stay at chain hotels in the Zhanhe District downtown; they are clean and affordable. Farmhouses at the foot of Yaoshan are also a great option, as they are close to the scenic area and convenient for an early start. I recommend booking in advance, as September–October is peak season. 🗺️ 3-day, 2-night itinerary (tested, relaxed pace) Day 1: Morning 40-minute high-speed train from Zhengzhou to Pingdingshan West Station > Charter a car to Yaoshan (approx. 1.5 hours), take the cable car up to see the red leaves and sea of clouds > Stay at a farmhouse at the foot of Yaoshan, eat stir-fried wild vegetables with eggs and stewed free-range chicken. Day 2: Morning at Central Plains Buddha > Afternoon at Huamei Valley, the "Little Jiuzhaigou of Southern Henan" > Evening at Lushan Hot Spring for a relaxing soak. Day 3: Morning at Pingdingshan Museum > Lunch with Jiaxian Heluo noodles > Afternoon at Baigui Lake Wetland Park to photograph the sunset > Return trip. 📸 Best photo spots The sunset at Baigui Lake's Broken Bridge is amazing; the light is softest between 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM. Shoot the sea of clouds from Yuhuang Peak at Yaoshan; it's most beautiful on a clear morning after rain. Shoot the Central Plains Buddha before sunset; the golden glow on the bronze statue is stunning. The slow-shutter stream shots in Huamei Valley and the lake reflections at Erlang Mountain are worth waiting for. ⚠️ Tips to avoid pitfalls (hard-learned lessons) Buy a raincoat before going up Yaoshan! It's too windy on the mountain for umbrellas. Cable car tickets are cheaper online than on-site. Don't buy overpriced "local goods" at the scenic area entrance; it's hard to tell if they're real. Never trust strangers at the entrance who offer to "show you a shortcut to save on tickets"—it's a scam. During the red leaf season, unlicensed taxis may raise prices on the spot; agree on the price before getting in, or better yet, use a ride-hailing app to keep a record. The temperature difference in the scenic area is huge; it can be 7–8 degrees cooler on the mountain than at the base, so be sure to bring a jacket. Bring your own swimsuit for the hot springs; the ones sold at the scenic area are expensive and unattractive. Don't trust free or low-cost tours; beware of forced shopping. · -- Pingdingshan is truly an underrated treasure of a small city! The weather is crisp and cool in September–October, the red leaves at Yaoshan are breathtaking, and the prices are incredibly cheap.

I just got back from Pingdingshan, and the aftereffects are real! This small city in central Henan, which rose to prominence because of coal, hides the "peerless beauty of the Central Plains" in Yaoshan Mountain, the world's tallest bronze Buddha, and Baigui Lake, often called the "Erhai Lake of Henan." It's uncrowded, affordable, and leaves a lasting impression! ✨ Moments that make life worth living · Yaoshan Mountain: The hallmark of Pingdingshan tourism! The main peak, Yuhuangding, stands at 2,153 meters and is said to have "the danger of Huashan and the beauty of Huangshan." Take the cable car up (CNY 100 round trip), walk the Feiyun Plank Road, and climb to Yuhuangding to overlook the sea of clouds. There are also 17 waterfalls ranging from 60 to 200 meters high. Admission is about CNY 65–80. · Spring Temple Buddha (Zhongyuan Buddha): The world's tallest bronze standing Buddha at 208 meters! Located at the foot of Yaoshan Mountain in Foquan Temple, it is solemn and breathtaking. You can touch the Buddha's feet to pray for blessings (requires a separate CNY 30 elevator ticket). Admission is CNY 120 (includes Foquan Temple). · Baigui Lake National Urban Wetland Park: Pingdingshan's "Erhai Lake"! Open for free. Take a walk along the lakeside boardwalk and enjoy the breeze; there are plenty of water birds. The sunset light and shadows in the evening are stunning. From November to April each year, you can also see Siberian black-headed gulls. · Xiangshan Pumen Temple: The "Ancestral Court of Guanyin" for Chinese Buddhism! It houses the Northern Song Dynasty Guanyin Pagoda. Open for free. · Pingdingshan Museum: See the Ying State bronzes and the stele inscription of Su Shi's "Battle of Kunyang." Free admission (closed on Mondays). · Yexian County Government Office: The best-preserved Ming Dynasty county government office in China, featuring a live performance called "The Magistrate Judges a Case." Admission is about CNY 50. 🗺️ A classic 2-day, 1-night itinerary you can copy · Day 1 Yaoshan + Buddha: High-speed train to Pingdingshan West Station → Charter a car or drive to Yaoshan (about 1.5 hours) → Cable car up, climb Yuhuangding → Afternoon at the Spring Temple Buddha → Stay in Xiatang Town for hot springs or a hotel in the city · Day 2 City culture + Lakeside views: Xiangshan Temple (free) → Pingdingshan Museum (free, closed on Mondays) → Baigui Lake Wetland Park (free, watch the sunset in the evening) → Return trip 🥢 Worth the trip just for the food · Jiaxian Heluo Noodles: Buckwheat noodles that are chewy and smooth, served with lamb bone broth and chili oil—a provincial intangible cultural heritage. · Lushan Languo Cai (Stewed Dish): Pork belly, tofu, and vermicelli stewed together in one pot; you can easily eat two big bowls with rice. · Baofeng Lamb Soup: A milky white, rich soup that is incredibly fresh and delicious. · Sanlangmiao Beef: Tender, mellow, and fragrant—tribute-grade quality. · Wugang Hot Tofu: As tender as pudding, with a savory and spicy garlic sauce. · Borui Cola: A local specialty soda. The beauty of Pingdingshan lies in how it blends landscapes, Buddhist charm, and the vibrancy of daily life. When you see the sea of clouds rolling at the summit of Yaoshan, you'll understand—some small cities are worth going out of your way for.

I've hiked many famous mountains, watched waves at the beach, and soaked in the atmosphere of ancient towns, yet I still felt wrapped in the daily tension of city life. My partner and I made a last-minute decision to dive into the mountains of Yaoshan in western Henan. I suddenly realized that you don't have to travel far to find a cool forest that can blow away the long-accumulated stress with its mountain breeze. The temperature in the mountains stays around 21–25°C year-round. Walking through the forest during the day, even the breeze carries the scent of plants. With the sound of babbling brooks underfoot and lush green mountains overhead, slowing down for 3 days made me feel completely relaxed. Let's start with transportation. Driving is the most comfortable option. If you're coming from anywhere in Henan, set your navigation directly to the Yaoshan Scenic Area Visitor Center. The road conditions are excellent all the way, with a stretch of mountain road after you get off the highway at Lushan. There is a legitimate parking lot at the scenic area entrance. If you aren't driving, you can take a high-speed train to Pingdingshan West Station and then transfer to a passenger bus to Yaoshan Town. The bus ride takes about 1.5 hours, and the schedule isn't very frequent, so it's recommended to check the departure times in advance. If you don't want the hassle, you can also book a ride-share directly from the station; the cost is reasonable when split between 2 people. For accommodation, I personally tested staying at a mountain guesthouse in Yaoshan Town, not far from the scenic area entrance. Double room prices are mostly in the CNY 190–300 range per night. There's no need to stay at the top of the mountain; there are plenty of choices in town, it's quiet at night, and you can see the rolling green mountains in the distance when you open the window. Some guesthouses have their own small courtyards, which are incredibly comfortable for sitting in and chatting while enjoying the evening breeze. Try to book 3 to 5 days in advance, as rooms can be tight on weekends. I don't recommend choosing a farmhouse far from the town center just to save money, as it will be inconvenient for dining and traveling back and forth to the scenic area. You can take a very slow pace for your 3-day trip without rushing to check off sights. After arriving and settling in on the first day, take a leisurely walk toward the canyon streams in the afternoon. Follow the trail up the valley along the stream; Bailongtan and Jiuqu Waterfall are both on this route. The stream water is crystal clear, and the stones are covered in moss. Playing in the cool mountain spring water together, the sound of the water drowns out all the noise of the city. On the second day, officially enter the main Yaoshan Scenic Area. Take the cable car up part of the way, then start hiking. Slowly walk along the mountainside plank road toward Yuhuangding. The route is lined with tall, primitive forests, and the shade covers almost the entire path, so you won't feel uncomfortably hot. The mornings after rain are the best time to see the sea of clouds; mist rolls up along the valley, and the sharp peaks seem to float in the vast white sea of clouds. Standing on the mountain top viewing platform, feeling the breeze and watching the clouds roll by, the moment is truly breathtaking. On the third day, sleep in, then take a light, off-the-beaten-path hiking trail. It's very quiet, with few people, only the sounds of birds and the wind. Head back leisurely in the afternoon. When you go on a summer getaway, do you prefer intense hiking or just relaxing by the stream? The food in the mountains is mainly western Henan farmhouse cuisine: wild mountain vegetables, free-range chicken soup, corn grits, and laomo (flatbread). The flavors are light and rustic. Restaurants in town have clearly marked prices; try to choose older, established shops along the main street. Restaurants inside the scenic area tend to be pricier with average portions, so it's better to stock up on dry food and drinking water at a supermarket in town before heading up the mountain. As for clothing and supplies, regular outdoor summer wear is sufficient for the whole trip: short sleeves, thin long pants, and a light sun-protective jacket, as it's cooler and windier at the mountain top. Wear non-slip sneakers for hiking; don't wear flip-flops or sandals on the mountain trails. You can bring an extra pair of sandals for playing in the stream. Carry mosquito repellent, sunscreen, and a few bandages with you. There are quite a few mosquitoes in the mountains, and there are occasional loose stones on the forest trails. Finally, a few tips to avoid pitfalls. You can buy scenic area tickets online in advance to avoid queuing on-site. Buy cable car tickets as needed; for those with average stamina, I recommend taking the cable car up and walking down slowly. When playing in the stream, be careful of slippery stones and don't go into deep, deserted pools. The weather in the mountains changes quickly, and a light rain can fall at any time, so carry a folding umbrella with you. This 3-day summer trip to Yaoshan had no crowds, just forests, waterfalls, and mountain breezes. It's perfect for couples and friends to escape the heat and clear their minds. Save this guide, and if you have any questions about the trip, feel free to leave a comment in the comments section. I will reply to all of them.

Pingdingshan in September 🌄 is so crisp and cool you'll want to move there permanently. But I have to be honest ⚠️: this is definitely not a relaxing trip. If you plan it poorly, you'll really suffer! Hiking up mountains and down valleys all day, having your legs turn to jelly is the norm 😂. 🍜 [Food recommendations] If you come to Pingdingshan and don't eat Jiaxian Heluo noodles, you've wasted your trip 🍜! The slow-simmered lamb bone broth poured over chewy noodles, topped with a spoonful of lamb chili oil, is so delicious it'll make you stomp your feet. Lushan Languo Cai is a "rice killer." Pork belly, tofu, vermicelli, cabbage, and over a dozen other ingredients are stewed in one pot. The broth is savory and fresh—I polished off two bowls of rice and was so full I couldn't walk 🥘. Baofeng lamb soup with huoshao involves pouring hot broth over lamb slices 7 or 8 times; one sip and you'll feel invigorated ♨️. Wugang hot tofu is as tender as bean curd, dipped in a secret chili sauce, with the bean and chili flavors exploding in your mouth 🌶️. There's also Ruzhou starch noodles, Sanlangmiao beef, and Maigen roast chicken—I wanted to pack it all to go! Search for restaurant reviews on Trip.com before you head out to avoid bad experiences. 📸 [Photo spots] Yaoshan is definitely the star 📷! By late September, the red leaves are just starting to turn. Take the cable car to the top of Yuhuangding to see the sea of clouds rolling—every shot is wallpaper-worthy. Baiguihu National Wetland Park is free to enter. One hour before sunset, the lake surface sparkles like scattered gold, and the silhouettes of egrets flying by are breathtaking 🕊️. Fengxue Temple has red walls and golden ginkgo trees; wear Hanfu for photos and you'll feel like you've traveled back to the Song Dynasty 🏯. For the 208m-tall Central Plains Buddha, take a low-angle wide shot from the base to capture the "Buddha's light"—your social media likes will go through the roof 💥. Sansu Garden has towering ancient cypress trees, and the tranquility in front of Su Dongpo's tomb is perfect for a film-style aesthetic. 🗺️ [Itinerary] Day 1: Yaoshan Scenic Area > Central Plains Buddha. Take the cable car up in the morning to see the sea of clouds and red leaves, visit the Buddha in the afternoon to pray for blessings, and stay in Lushan County in the evening. Day 2: Xiangshan Temple > Baiguihu Lake > Downtown night market. Spend the morning taking peaceful photos at the ancient temple, go cycling around the lake in the afternoon, and eat your way through the Laodong Road Night Market in the evening 🥢. Day 3: Yexian County Government Office > Sansu Garden > Return. Experience the aesthetics of ancient architecture at the Ming Dynasty government office, take a slow stroll through the ancient cypress forest and stele forest at Sansu Garden, and head home in the afternoon with some snacks. 🚫 [Tips to avoid pitfalls] I don't recommend trying to save money by hiring roadside unlicensed guides. I've done plenty of stupid things and have been scammed so badly I wanted to cry 😭. The Yaoshan cable car stops running early in the afternoon, so don't cut it close, or you'll have to hike down and your knees will make you question your life choices. There's a big temperature difference at the summit, so bring a windbreaker and wear non-slip shoes! Food in the scenic area is pricey; for authentic local food, prioritize old shops in the city or county. The incense and "consecrated" souvenirs near the Central Plains Buddha are heavily overpriced; I really don't recommend impulse buying—just bring your own eco-friendly incense 🙏. Yaoshan is crowded on September weekends; if you want empty shots, I suggest arriving before 8:00 AM on a weekday. Don't choose group tour hotels near the Buddha; the soundproofing is terrible. Prioritize chain hotels in Lushan County or Xinhua District for cleanliness and value. Check tickets and opening hours on Trip.com before you come. Information for Yaoshan, the Central Plains Buddha, and Sansu Garden is updated in real time, so don't just show up and have your expectations crushed 💔. Pingdingshan in September really understands what it means to be a "hidden gem of the Central Plains" ✨.

01 Pingdingshan | Henan Yaoshan Mountain and the Central Plains Buddha are actually connected; one ticket covers both for most of the day. 🚄 Get off at Pingdingshan West Station. It takes about 40 minutes by taxi to Yaoshan, or about CNY 30 per person for a shared ride, which is more flexible than the direct scenic shuttle. The Buddha at the foot of the mountain is 208 meters tall; looking up at it will make your neck sore, but it's worth it. Don't rush to take the cable car; walk the "Qinglongbei" trail first. With cliffs on both sides and a breeze, the autumn temperature is just right—not too hot or stuffy. ⚠️ After 3:00 PM, the light hits the Buddha at an angle, making it the best time for photos; going in the morning means shooting against the light. The jelly noodles and acorn noodles on the mountain are CNY 10 a bowl—fine for a snack, but don't expect a full meal. Stay in Lushan County in the evening; a standard room is just over CNY 100, half the price of staying inside the scenic area. 02 Baoting | Hainan I suggest choosing only one between Binglanggu and Yanoda. Binglanggu is for Li and Miao culture—boat-shaped houses, brocade weaving, and fire-drilling performances; walking through it feels like flipping through a living history book. Yanoda focuses on the rainforest. The waterfall trekking costs an extra CNY 100-plus; without that, just looking at plants is a bit monotonous. 🍜 The bowl of mountain rice wine glutinous rice balls at the entrance of Binglanggu is sweet with a hint of sour—very refreshing when you're tired. The two places aren't far apart, about 20 minutes by taxi, but tickets aren't cheap. Booking online a day in advance can save you CNY 30 or 40. ⚠️ The sun in Hainan is relentless; even in October, you need sunscreen. A hat is more practical than an umbrella because umbrellas are inconvenient in the rainforest. Choose Binglanggu for seniors and children—the paths are flat and shady; go to Yanoda if you're young and want to break a sweat. 03 Yinchuan | Ningxia Yinchuan's attractions are scattered, but buses and tourist lines can connect them, so don't just jump into a taxi. Start the morning at the Western Xia Imperial Tombs. The chiwen (roof ornament) fragment in the museum, with its thousand-year-old glaze, is more impressive than the mounds themselves. Head back to the city for lunch and have a bowl of lamb offal soup with a white flatbread—CNY 20 will fill you up. In the afternoon, head to the Helan Mountain Rock Art. ⏰ Enter the scenic area after 4:00 PM; the low sun angle makes the outlines of the sun god patterns on the rock walls exceptionally clear. If you're short on time, skip Mingcui Lake for Shuidonggou. While the autumn reeds at Mingcui Lake are beautiful, Shuidonggou's hidden military caves and Ming Dynasty Great Wall ruins are more unique. ⚠️ A section of Shuidonggou requires a mule cart and boat ride, which is included in the package ticket; don't get scammed by scalpers at the entrance into buying it again. Stay near the Drum Tower in the evening; the night market is within walking distance. Huaiyuan spicy strips and grilled eggs are worth a try. 04 Taizhou | Jiangsu Autumn in Qin Lake tastes like crab. 🦀 Around National Day is the perfect time for the fattest Qin Lake mitten crabs. In Qintong Town outside the scenic area, a 125-gram female crab at a farmhouse restaurant sells for just over CNY 20—half the price of city restaurants. Take a boat into the lake in the morning; egrets flock in the wetland reed marshes, and the creaking of the boatwoman's oar against the water makes you slow down. ⏰ Finish visiting the Ancient Shousheng Temple before noon, then head to the Wetland Science Museum in the afternoon, where kids can touch elk antler specimens. ⚠️ Don't rush to order the "Qin Lake Eight Delicacies" set meal at the entrance; the portions are huge and two people can't finish it. Ordering two or three items à la carte is enough. 🚄 Take the You 1 bus directly from Taizhou Station; the ride takes about an hour. A taxi costs CNY 60, so taking the bus is a better deal for budget travelers. 05 Turpan | Xinjiang You can finish Flaming Mountains and Kumtag Desert in one day, but don't get the order wrong. Go to Flaming Mountains in the morning before the surface temperature spikes to 60 degrees. Take a photo with that giant thermometer while it's still cool, then leave quickly. Head to Kumtag in the afternoon. ⏰ Enter the desert around 5:00 PM; the sand is scorching, and you'll be jumping after two steps barefoot, so wear sandals or rent shoe covers. The desert off-road vehicle ride is CNY 180 per trip—a real adrenaline rush. If you're on a tight budget, just climb to the sand ridge yourself; the view is just as expansive. 🍜 Return to Turpan city in the evening; the baked buns at the Grape Valley Night Market are CNY 3 each—crispy skin and fragrant meat. Pair them with a bowl of yogurt to cut the grease. ⚠️ The dry heat in Turpan is different from the humid heat in the south. Carry water with you; you'll be parched if you don't drink for an hour. 06 Taiyuan | Shanxi Jinci Temple is the face of Taiyuan, Tianlong Mountain is a surprise, and Jinyang Lake is a bonus for a stroll. Dedicate the morning to Jinci Temple. The Flying Bridge over the Fish Pond in front of the Hall of the Holy Mother will leave you stunned by the ancient wooden architecture—it's ten times more impressive than photos in textbooks. ⏰ It's best to arrive at Jinci before 9:00 AM, before the tour groups flood in; it's quiet enough under the corridors to hear the wind chimes. Head to Tianlong Mountain in the afternoon. Although the grotto Buddha statues are damaged, the mountain is steep and rugged, and standing at the summit offers a panoramic view of the entire Taiyuan Basin. ⚠️ The Tianlong Mountain Grottoes are under renovation, and some caves are closed. Check the official announcement before you go so you don't make a wasted trip. Jinyang Lake Park is free. Go for a walk by the lake in the evening and watch the sunset dye the water orange—it's a place where locals hang out, with few tourists. 🚄 It takes about half an hour by taxi from Taiyuan South Station to Jinci, or you can take the 308 bus, though it's a bit slower. 07 Shenyang | Liaoning Shenyang's attractions are concentrated; Beiling Park and Beita Falun Temple can be linked together. Go to Beiling Park in the morning. The Zhaoling Tomb of the Qing Dynasty is hidden deep in the park; the ticket includes both the park and the tomb, so don't just buy the park ticket and miss the main attraction. The park is filled with ancient pine trees, and in autumn, the fallen pine needles create a soft carpet underfoot. Have a bowl of Laobian dumplings on Lingdong Street for lunch—thin skin, big filling, and you'll be stuffed for about CNY 40 per person. Head to Beita Falun Temple in the afternoon. The Tibetan-style white pagoda looks great against the blue sky. The temple is quiet with a faint scent of incense, perfect for zoning out. ⚠️ The Wugou Jingguang Relic Pagoda is in Huanggu District, a bit of a distance from Beita—15 minutes by taxi. The brick carvings on the pagoda are heavily weathered, but it's worth the detour for the peace and quiet if you like ancient pagodas. The Shenyang Expo Garden is in the suburbs; if you're short on time, you can cut it, unless you're really interested in plants. 08 Yueyang | Hunan Yueyang Tower, Dongting Lake, and Junshan Island are perfect for a one-day trip, but the order matters. Climb Yueyang Tower first thing in the morning. ⏰ Enter as soon as it opens at 8:00 AM to beat the tour groups. Standing on the third floor looking out at Dongting Lake, with its misty, vast waters, you'll instantly understand the poetic sentiment of "worrying before the world worries." Walk down along the lake to Baling Square, where locals do their morning exercises—it's full of life. Have a bowl of Yueyang rice noodles on Bianhe Street for lunch; the toppings are generous and the spice is satisfying. Take a boat to Junshan Island in the afternoon; the boat ticket is included in the joint scenic ticket. The Xiangfei bamboo and Li Yi well on the island have their own stories; two hours is enough to stroll around slowly. ⚠️ The last return boat is at 5:30 PM; don't get too caught up and miss the last boat, or you'll have to charter a speedboat, which is several times more expensive. 🍜 Return to the city in the evening and get a pot of ginger spicy snake or Dongting fish head—about CNY 60 per person—then wipe your mouth and head out. Of these eight places, Pingdingshan and Taizhou are the least known, while Shenyang and Yueyang have the most convenient transportation. If you don't want to see crowds during the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day, just pick one and go. Which one are you most excited about? Let's chat in the comments, and I'll help you avoid the pitfalls.

Back from Pingdingshan 🚞, and I was honestly blown away by this little city! Before I left, I thought it was just an ordinary, niche town 🙏, so I didn't have high expectations. But after staying for three days, my perception was completely flipped ✨! The prices are ridiculously gentle 💸, the scenery is raw and uncommercialized, and the value for money on food, accommodation, and activities is off the charts. A 2-day trip near Zhengzhou | Lushan Giant Buddha + Xiangshan Temple itinerary guide✨ 📍Destination: Lushan, Pingdingshan It takes about two hours to drive from Zhengzhou, making it perfect for a short weekend getaway. 🌿Day 1 | Central Plains Giant Buddha You can see the 208-meter-tall golden Buddha standing among the mountains from afar. The sense of solemnity is overwhelming, and you can only truly appreciate it when standing at the foot of the mountain. Walk slowly up the 365 steps, enjoying the view of the rolling mountains along the way. If you're interested, you can pay to touch the Buddha's feet or ring the giant auspicious bell. The light between 9:00 AM and 10:00 AM is perfect for photos, and shooting from a low angle makes it easy to capture atmospheric shots. 🍲Local food After exploring, be sure to try Lushan Languo Cai. The rich ingredients paired with steamed buns are incredibly satisfying. If you prefer something lighter, the vegetarian buffet near the scenic area is a great choice. 📌Travel tips Admission is 35 yuan, and insurance is optional. There are many steps in the park, so be sure to wear soft-soled sneakers. Sightseeing carts and elevators are optional transportation services; those with less stamina can choose to use them as needed. You can get incense for free at the entrance of the scenic area, so there's no need to buy it outside at a high price. 🌇Day 2 | Xiangshan Temple This is the well-known ancestral temple of Guanyin. The temple complex spreads out along the mountain, and the mottled red walls paired with the ancient pagoda are particularly beautiful. It is recommended to visit near dusk, when the soft light of the setting sun spills over the vermilion walls, making it perfect for photography. The Guanyin Pagoda, the corridors, and the liberation pond are all excellent photo spots. Choose simple and elegant clothing. When visiting the temple, try to keep your voice down, respect the etiquette of the place, and do not take photos inside the halls. It takes about two to three hours to tour the entire area. 💫Summary A two-day trip where you can experience the solemnity of the Giant Buddha and the unique tranquility of the ancient temple. It's a great way to temporarily set aside the busyness of daily life and relax your body and mind. Would you plan a road trip like this for the weekend?💬

【Introduction】: Baofeng County has a very profound cultural heritage. It is known as the "Hometown of Chinese Quyi" and the "Capital of Ru Porcelain." It is also very close to the urban area of Pingdingshan, making it perfect for a short weekend trip. ⛺【Must-visit local spots】: All day: Xiangshan Temple Scenic Area · Highlights: Known as the "Ancestral Court of Sinicized Guanyin," it was first built in the Eastern Han Dynasty, with a history even older than the White Horse Temple. The Great Compassion Guanyin Pagoda inside the temple is a relic from the Northern Song Dynasty and holds significant historical value. The architecture within the scenic area is magnificent, and the environment is tranquil, making it suitable for a leisurely climb and pilgrimage. · Surroundings: If you visit in winter, there is also the Xiangshan Ski Resort here, where you can experience the fun of skiing. · Location: Daxiangshan Road, Naodian Town, about 14 kilometers from the county seat. 🛬【Travel guide】: You can introduce suggested visit times, number of days to play, the order of must-visit spots, and itinerary arrangements, etc. 🏨【Accommodation guide】: Elong Anyue Hotel (Pingdingshan Baofeng Xishang Agricultural Expo Park Branch) 🧡【Tips】: Must-try delicacies (Baofeng on the tip of your tongue) If you come to Baofeng and don't eat these, it's like you haven't been here at all: 1. Lamb soup (Yangrou Chongtang): This is the star dish! The soup is exceptionally delicious; you must try it. 2. Baofeng roast chicken: Bright in color and firm in meat, it is an intangible cultural heritage delicacy. 3. Baofeng Guokui (flatbread): Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with a rich wheat aroma, it is suitable as a souvenir or for breakfast.

📍Pingdingshan, Henan You can catch a bus from the entrance of Xiangshan Temple directly to the museum, and both attractions are located in Pingdingshan New District. The new district is wide open and sparsely populated. As someone from the hilly south, I'm a bit jealous (the roads are really wide and straight 🥹) 🦅🦅Eagle city 🔹Pingdingshan became a city in 1957. It grew up around coal and is one of the PRC's key coal industry bases. 🔹The city is young, but the land beneath it is not. 🔹The most famous artifact from the Pingdingshan area is a small white jade line‑carved eagle, unearthed from the Ying state's burial site in Pingdingshan. 🔹During the Western Zhou period, Pingdingshan was part of the Ying state. The characters for "Ying" and "eagle" were interchangeable, and the Ying people used the eagle as a totem. The Ying capital has now sunk beneath the water around the Baiguishan Reservoir near the museum. 🔹According to the official website, the white jade eagle should be housed in Pingdingshan Museum, but when I visited during this year's May Day holiday I saw a replica. I didn't look into how the exhibit is arranged or whether the piece rotates. 🦅🦅Museum 🔹The museum doesn't have many exhibits, but it's small and well put together, with representative artifacts from different historical periods, so it's worth a visit. 🔹One small complaint: some exhibits don't list their provenance/excavation site, nor do they indicate whether they are replicas, which is a bit confusing. 🚗🚗Half-day tour in Pingdingshan New District 7:00–9:30 AM Xiangshan Temple 10:00–11:30 AM Pingdingshan Museum 🔸If your itinerary is the same as mine, I recommend the Handa Hotel in the new district—great value. During the May Day holiday a family room was about CNY 250/night. The rooms are large and new, and the service is at least on par with Ji Hotel and Atour. Ordering takeout was difficult, but otherwise everything was very good. 📭📭See comments for itinerary reference

Can anyone relate? As a travel photographer who spends all year exploring mountains, I almost missed a treasure right in my own backyard—Yaoshan Scenic Area in Lushan County, Pingdingshan, Henan. I read countless guides before going, and honestly, I was skeptical: How good could it really be? But after visiting, I was proven wrong—isn't this just the Henan version of "The Legend of Zelda" in real life? 🚗 First, let's talk about transportation—take my advice on this Driving yourself is the best option; just set your GPS to "Yaoshan Scenic Area." If you're starting from Zhengzhou, take the Zhengzhou-Yaoshan Expressway and exit at Yaoshan. The whole trip is about 180 km and takes around 2.5 hours. But here's the important part: the mountain roads after exiting the expressway are winding and steep, so if you're a new driver, I recommend bringing an experienced one along. High-speed rail travelers are covered too: get off at Pingdingshan West Station and take a taxi to the scenic area, which takes about 40–60 minutes. Definitely avoid the unlicensed taxis outside the scenic area—don't ask me how I know. 🎫 Ticket guide (a must-read for budget travelers) Adult admission is CNY 60, or CNY 95 for admission + internal transportation. The round-trip cable car is about CNY 100–150. Student IDs get half-price tickets. If you're a member of a provincial-level or higher photographers' association, you get free admission all year round—this perk blew my mind! 📸 My travel photography route & best photo spots Stop 1: Yaoshan cable car — "The cloud shuttle" It's 3,000 meters long with a 1,000-meter elevation gain, taking 8 minutes one way. The moment you get on, the mist makes you feel like you've traveled into a fairyland. Riding the cable car on a morning after rain, you'll see a sea of clouds rolling beneath your feet. If you have drone equipment, fly it here for some incredible shots in minutes. Stop 2: Yuhuangding (Jade Emperor Peak) — "Straddling three cities in one step" The main peak is 2,153.3 meters above sea level. Once you reach the top, you can see all the surrounding peaks and rolling seas of clouds. The best part is that this is the intersection of Luoyang, Nanyang, and Pingdingshan. You can stand in three cities at once—it's the ultimate flex for your social media location tag. 📷 Photography tips: The best spot for sunrise is the Yuhuangding viewing platform. Around 6:30 AM, you'll get a stunning combination of the sea of clouds and the sunrise. The light is best after 3:00 PM; bring a wide-angle lens to capture the reflections of the mountains. Stop 3: Qinglongbei (Green Dragon Ridge) — "The sky corridor, for the brave only" A ridge over 400 meters long, with the narrowest point less than 0.5 meters wide and sheer drops on both sides. Walking on it, you'll see clouds and mist rising beneath your feet. "You haven't really been to Yaoshan until you've been to Qinglongbei." Remember to have your companion snap some epic photos of you in the air. Stop 4: Jiuqu Waterfall — "A must-visit for Hanfu enthusiasts" It's 80 meters high and winds through three bends and nine curves. In summer, the water is rushing and crystal clear. Rent a Hanfu set at the foot of the mountain, hop on a bamboo raft, and you'll get amazing photos without needing any filters. Stop 5: Rhododendron corridor (available April–June) Thousands of acres of native rhododendrons bloom along the mountain slopes. Wear light colors or Hanfu; purple rhododendrons and white Hanfu are a perfect match. 🎢 A must-do on the way down: The slide CNY 30/person for a super exciting 3-minute descent. It's a hundred times more exhilarating than hiking down! 🍜 A must-eat for foodies: Lushan Languo Cai (Lushan pot stew) Pork belly stewed with tofu in a secret sauce—you can eat until you're stuffed for about CNY 40 per person. The pork belly is rich but not greasy, and the vermicelli soaks up all the meaty flavor. I ate two bowls of rice and didn't even feel full. 🤔 A final heartfelt word: Yaoshan is truly underrated! Its unique peaks rival Zhangjiajie, and its sea of clouds rivals Huangshan. The best part is that it's uncrowded, beautiful, and affordable. Go now before it gets overrun by the influencer crowds! Guys, I'll see you at the top of the next mountain! 🏔️

Pingdingshan in July is actually an underrated summer getaway 🌿. Yaoshan's main peak is over 2,000 meters above sea level, with high forest coverage. The summer feels like just over 20 degrees Celsius, which is much more refreshing than staying in an air-conditioned room. But I also ran into some issues on this trip, so let me first clarify the pitfalls for my sisters 👇 ⚠️ Tips to avoid pitfalls July in central Henan is dry, hot, and exposed to strong sun. The perceived temperature can easily reach over 30 degrees Celsius, and it's common to feel dizzy from the sun while hiking Yaoshan 🌞. The temperature difference between the mountain and the base can be 7–8 degrees Celsius. A T-shirt + thin sun protection jacket + non-slip athletic shoes are standard. Bright-colored dresses are great for photos, but don't wear white pants on rafting day; a wet outfit is too hard to manage 🤡. Bring mosquito repellent; those small black mosquitoes in the mountains can cause swelling for three days, I'm not kidding. A sun hat + sunglasses + ice sleeves are a must-have trio. The wind is strong on the Yaoshan cable car section, so hats without straps will really blow away. It's recommended to book Yaoshan admission tickets in advance on Trip.com. Buying the Yaoshan cable car + scenic shuttle package on-site means queuing until you collapse 🥵. Inside the Giant Buddha scenic area, "consecration" ceremonies, incense, and souvenirs are severely overpriced. Do not make impulsive purchases. You can bring your own incense and candles or buy them from small stalls at the foot of the mountain for more than half the price. It's not recommended to buy the Yaoshan cable car + scenic shuttle package on-site. Booking in advance on Trip.com can save you the cost of a breakfast. 🍜 Food recommendations As an important tourist city in Henan, Pingdingshan's cuisine combines the essence of Henan dishes with local characteristics, offering both rustic charm and urban flavor. Jiaxian Heluo Noodles must be the top choice, with thick round noodles served with lamb oil chili and fresh lamb broth, making them chewy and smooth. Lushan Langguo Dish is Pingdingshan's version of a "luxury stew," with meatballs, vermicelli, and tofu braised together, savory and perfect with rice. Baofeng Lamb Soup is a local breakfast staple. The hot broth is repeatedly poured over and filtered through lamb, removing any gamey taste and retaining freshness, resulting in a milky white soup. Wugang Hot Tofu is as tender as pudding, drizzled with chili garlic sauce, bursting with flavor in every bite. The price of CNY 5 per bowl is truly touching. There's also Lushan Braised Pork, Sanlangmiao Beef, and Ruzhou Glass Noodles; I want to pack every single one of them 🥩. 📸 Photo spots The sea of clouds at Yaoshan Yuhuangding is a hit on social media. Take the cable car up the mountain in the early morning, and with the clouds swirling around the strange peaks, any pose will create a magical shot 🌄. For a full view of the Giant Buddha, take an upward shot from the middle section of the Central Plains Giant Buddha worship platform steps to avoid crowds. A wide-angle, low-angle shot will make the Buddha appear even more majestic. The stream section at Huamei Valley Rhododendron Lake is very cool. Taking off your shoes and wading in the water is incredibly refreshing. The colorful slide is worth the CNY 30 ticket price. Baigui Lake National Wetland Park is stunning for sunset views in the evening, with the sunset glow reflecting on the lake and adding new scenery to the sluice gates. The entire city is in bloom, with a sea of roses and climbing roses throughout. Erlangshan Shimantan Reservoir with its glass skywalk. Enter the park before 9 AM to avoid tour groups, otherwise, queuing under the sun is truly miserable ☀️. 🗺️ Itinerary Day 1: Take the high-speed train from Zhengzhou to Pingdingshan West Station (40 minutes), then a taxi to Yaoshan. Take the cable car up to Yuhuangding to see the sea of clouds, then walk down the Bailongtan plank road. In the evening, soak in Fuquan Hot Spring and stay at the foot of the mountain. Day 2: Central Plains Giant Buddha + Huamei Valley. The stream section at Huamei Valley Rhododendron Lake is very cool. Taking off your shoes and wading in the water is incredibly refreshing. The colorful slide is worth the CNY 30 ticket price. It's not recommended to wear white shoes to Huamei Valley; moss + stream water means your shoes will be ruined in minutes. Day 3: Wugang Erlangshan, Shimantan Reservoir with its glass skywalk. Enter the park before 9 AM to avoid tour groups. Erlangshan + Dengtaijia can actually be combined into one day, but for us lazy people, we'll leave Erlangshan in the afternoon and head back to the city to visit the museum, whose bamboo slip-like design is grand and imposing 🏛️. For accommodation, if you're staying in the city, choose Runzeyuan Shenma Hotel, an old four-star hotel conveniently located near Jianshe Road for dining. If you want something newer, try Moshang Qingya Wanda Store, with Song-style decor perfect for photos. If you want to soak in hot springs at the foot of Yaoshan, definitely choose Fuquan Hotel. You can see the Central Plains Giant Buddha from your window, and a soak after coming down the mountain will wash away all the day's aches. To book a room, search "Pingdingshan + Yaoshan" on Trip.com and filter for ratings of 4.6 or higher. Don't trust those guesthouses whose pictures look better than real life. The stir-fried wild vegetables with eggs + stone pot tofu at Yaoshan Town farmhouses cost CNY 30 per person and will fill you up, much more reasonable than scenic area restaurants. Go for it, sisters, and remember to save this post 📌!

No crowds, you can hike unique mountains and rivers, pray and find peace, and feast on affordable, authentic Henan noodles. Prices are budget-friendly, so students and road-trippers, go for it! The unique peaks, plank roads, and mountain waterfalls are incredibly photogenic. If your stamina is average, you can take the cable car up and down. If you have time, stop by the Pingdingshan Museum to learn about the thousand-year history of Eagle City before heading back. Must-try food list 1. Jiaxian Heluo Noodles | An intangible cultural heritage dish. The buckwheat noodles are chewy and smooth, topped with lamb bone broth and minced lamb. A spoonful of lamb oil chili is the soul of the dish. Paired with freshly baked flatbread for dipping, it's absolutely divine. 2. Lushan Langguocai | A local specialty stew with a savory mix of meat and vegetables. It's affordable and filling, available at most farmhouse restaurants in the scenic area. 3. Driving makes exploring easier, as the drive between Lushan scenic spots is about half an hour. 4. Food in scenic areas tends to be more expensive. I sincerely recommend anyone looking to escape the city noise to head straight to the comic manor! 🙏 As a travel blogger for so long, I’ve visited countless popular spots, but few places have kept me amazed the entire time. This trip exceeded all my expectations with nonstop healing vibes and no disappointments. Before coming, I thought it was just an ordinary popular manor for photos, but stepping inside, I realized they truly brought the comic world to life 🎨. The moment I entered, I was blown away by the vibrant yet gentle, soothing colors everywhere. The clean, healing sets, well-arranged photo spots, and immersive comic scenes have no sense of over-commercialized clutter. Every detail is crafted with care. The entire comic avenue is a photo paradise! Life-size comic walls, cute comic speech bubbles, giant comic book sculptures—just standing, walking, or casually snapping photos, no need to find angles or edit. The original shots look like Japanese-style films, with the atmosphere fully on point ✨. I saw many girls wearing hanfu, JK uniforms, and cosplay outfits, perfectly matching the scenes, instantly transporting you into an anime story. They’re definitely the highlight of any social feed. Beyond the popular comic sets, the park’s scenery is utterly captivating. Layers of colorful flowers bloom year-round, fluffy plants line the clean paths, and when the breeze blows, the flowers gently sway—soft and soothing. Blue and white Santorini-style buildings, cute and playful Hobbit rainbow houses, romantic popular mini trains, dreamy rainbow bridges, and a breathtaking high-altitude glass bridge offer both gentle, fresh photo vibes and a bit of thrilling fun. The activities are super diverse 💐. What moves me most isn’t just the beauty but the relaxed, healing atmosphere here. The fast pace and all the anxiety and fatigue of city life melt away the moment you enter this comic sanctuary. No need to rush, just stroll slowly, enjoy the flowers, take photos, feel the breeze, and quietly savor your own gentle time. This unhurried comfort is truly rare. ✅ Honest and objective review from a real visitor 1. Great overall value. Tickets are affordable, the park is large, perfect for photos, exploring, or leisurely wandering. It’s not a place where you finish in 10 minutes. Suitable for all ages. 2. The scene setups are super delicate, with reasonable spacing between photo spots. No overcrowding or long photo lines. Even beginners can easily get great shots. There’s no sense of a rushed, superficial popular spot. 3. Facilities are well-equipped. The park paths are smooth and clean, rest areas and snack stalls are everywhere, and signage is clear. No worries about getting lost. Perfect for family trips, outings with friends, or couples’ dates. 4. The only minor downside: crowds can be heavy on holidays. It’s best to visit during off-peak times. Weekdays offer the best experience. I truly believe romance never requires traveling far. If you’re tired of the city’s concrete and steel and want a place to relax, take beautiful photos, and heal your mood, the comic manor is definitely the top choice. Here, everyone is the protagonist of their own comic world—gentle, romantic, and healing, where all the beauty is like

Day 1. We arrived, checked in, and only had time for dinner. It seemed like the day was over. But our hotel hostess waved her hand and sent us to a Fox show—one of those times when the evening suddenly turns into a great start to the trip. Day 2. The next day, it started raining, and there was nothing to do in the mountains: fog, clouds, and poor visibility. Our hostess saved the day again and sent us to the caves. Inside, there are enormous halls, dragons carved into stone, a forest of stalactites and stalagmites, and then an underground river with boats and a canopy of stars overhead. We entered skeptically but left feeling so glad we went. After the caves, we dined at Nimo Kitchen—a forest restaurant near the Avatar Mountains that's definitely worth adding to your itinerary. In the evening, we reached the 72nd building: lights, music, street food, and that very China that lives next to the mountains, not just in postcards. Day 3. The next day, the weather cleared up, and visibility was 100%. We went to Zhangjiajie National Park itself: we rode the cable car, walked along paths between the rocks, fed the monkeys, and on our way out of the park, we even managed to fly in a helicopter over the Avatar Mountains. After the park, there was a glass bridge, a glass walkway, a zipline down, a slide on your butt, and the exit to Baofeng Lake. There's another beautiful trail there, about 4 km long, as a bonus to a bright day. In the evening, you can add Tianmen Mountain: the climb, 1,000 steps, and the very view that makes it worthwhile. But that's if you have any energy left 🤪 Have a great trip ✈️

Elong AnYue's lobby design breaks the traditional hotel's narrow and monotonous functional limitations, creating an open "urban living room" full of a homely atmosphere: upon entering, you will encounter the AnX coffee corner with its rich aroma, where travelers catching early flights can be served a freshly brewed energizing drink; from disposable earplugs and razors to forgotten charging cables and personal care items, everything can be found in one place, so there's no need to go out late at night looking for a convenience store. The public area also hides many interesting touches, making the fragmented time waiting for check-in come alive; the space is deliberately divided into a quiet business office area and a relaxed lounge chat area. Business travelers returning from trips can lounge on the sofa and watch some shows, while young people traveling together can gather around the table to share travel photos, without disturbing each other and full of lively atmosphere.

Not far from Zhangjiajie National Forest Park lies the wonderful Baofeng Lake, nestled among moss-covered mountains. We took a taxi to the lake's entrance, but it's entirely possible to get there by public transport—we just didn't look into it. You can take a boat ride on the lake for 110 RMB. I'll be honest, don't expect a huge "wow" factor from this activity, and after the thrill of seeing the Avatar mountains, it might even seem a bit too dull. However, we really enjoyed the boat trip; it felt incredibly peaceful and serene. It's a great, relaxing activity to balance out your trip.
