Vista al Mar Restaurant in Concón: A 180° Panorama and the Best Octopus Ever.
Restaurante Vista al Mar completely lives up to its name ("Sea View"). Perched on a rocky coastal cliff along Concón's main ocean drive, it makes you feel like you're dining right on the deck of a cruise ship.
The restaurant features a classic coastal design, complete with massive floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows and open terraces. The Pacific waves crash against the rocks right below the windows, filling the dining room with the sound of the surf and setting an incredibly romantic vibe.
What we tried and what you absolutely must order:
▪️Salmon Tiradito (Tiradito de Salmón): Perfectly tender, fresh, and rich salmon, lightly marinated in lemon. Served with capers—a perfectly calibrated, flawless flavor balance!
▪️Grilled Octopus (Pulpo al Olivo / A la Parrilla): This was hands down the best octopus we've ever had! Unbelievably soft and tender, it literally melted in your mouth, while the subtle smoky char from the grill perfectly enhanced the dish's aroma and taste.
▪️Pavlova Dessert (Postre Pavlova): A light, airy, and absolutely delicious treat that was the perfect sweet ending to our lunch.
We practically had the place to ourselves during our visit, and the service was absolutely top-notch. The manager himself took care of us—he was super friendly, attentive, and spoke excellent English, making everything completely seamless.
Vista al Mar left us with the fondest memories! Incredible food, the best octopus ever, stellar service, and the endless ocean right outside the window. We were absolutely blown away and highly recommend this spot to anyone visiting Concón!

Roca Oceánica Viewpoint: The Power of the Pacific Ocean and Storm-Shaped Cliffs
If you want to experience the wild, unbridled power of the Pacific Ocean up close, be sure to descend to the Roca Oceánica viewpoint on the coast of Concón.
This monumental rocky outcrop of volcanic origin juts deep into the ocean. It is officially protected as a Natural Sanctuary due to its unique coastal ecosystem.
There is no sandy beach here—only dark, majestic cliffs, against which enormous ocean waves crash with a deafening roar, sending up towering columns of white foam and spray.
📸 What to see and do:
▪️Walk along the rocky trails: The cape is lined with carved stone steps and safe viewing platforms with benches directly above the boiling ocean water. ▪️Marine Life Watching: The dark cliffs of Roca Oceánica are a favorite nesting and resting spot for hundreds of seabirds, including pelicans, cormorants, and gulls. Sometimes, you can even spot fur seals swimming near the cliffs.
▪️Sunset Photography: The rugged rocky landscape and crashing waves in the rays of the setting sun create incredibly dramatic and beautiful shots.
Roca Oceánica makes you feel like you're at the very edge of the earth. Standing on the cliff, feeling the salt spray on your face, and listening to the powerful roar of the crashing waves is pure ecstasy and a recharge!

Dunas de Concón: The Golden Dunes of Concón – Where the Desert Meets the Ocean
Imagine standing on top of a huge sand dune, the salty breeze of the Pacific Ocean blowing in, and right at the foot of the dunes, the city's neighborhoods begin to glow in the sunset. These are the Dunas de Concón—one of the most photogenic and unique spots on the Chilean coast.
Why you should go:
▪️360-degree views: From the crest of the dunes, you'll enjoy a stunning panoramic view of the entire bay, the ocean, and neighboring Viña del Mar.
▪️Perfect sunset: The sun setting directly into the ocean, painting the sand a fiery orange, is the highlight of the evening.
▪️Sandboarding: If you're looking for an adrenaline rush, you can easily rent a board below and slide down the steep sandy slopes.
Practical tips:
▪️When to go: The best time is 1–1.5 hours before sunset. During the day, the sand gets very hot, and the evening lighting is much softer for photos.
▪️Shoes: Don't hesitate to take them off! Walking barefoot on the soft sand is a special pleasure (just check the sand temperature before you step in).
Protection: Bring a windbreaker or light jacket—a cool breeze always picks up near the ocean in the late afternoon.
The combination of the soft golden sand of the dunes and the wild, unbridled power of the ocean at Roca Oceánica creates an incredible contrast. Watching the sunset with the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks is pure magic of the Chilean coast!
