In 1815, the Kingdom of Saxony was transferred to the Kingdom of Prussia, and has since belonged to Germany. Görlitz can be called Germany's architectural museum. The old town has more than 4,000 historical buildings and memorials in Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque, Neoclassical and Art Nouveau styles.
