🇳🇵 From Annapurna to Phoksundo: 7 Himalayan Treks Worth Traveling to Nepal For Nepal isn’t the kind of destination where you simply look at the mountains. You walk into them. For days, sometimes weeks, you follow trails through rhododendron forests, cross suspension bridges above roaring rivers, sleep in tiny Himalayan villages and wake up to peaks so enormous they don’t look real. 🏔️ And the best part? Nepal doesn’t have just one iconic trek. You can choose a short ridgeline adventure, a classic base-camp journey, a remote circuit over a 5,000-meter pass or a trek to a brilliant blue lake hidden deep in the Himalayas. If Nepal is calling, these are 7 treks I’d save first. 1️⃣ Annapurna Circuit Trek: the legendary all-rounder 🏔️ If you want one trek that shows just how dramatically Nepal can change, the Annapurna Circuit is hard to beat. The classic route moves from greener subtropical valleys into the increasingly dry landscapes around Manang before crossing the enormous Thorong La Pass at 5,416 meters. Nepal Tourism Board describes it as one of the country’s classic trekking journeys, with scenery shifting dramatically throughout the route. One day you’re walking beside rivers and forests. A few days later, you’re surrounded by barren Himalayan terrain that almost looks Tibetan. Then comes Thorong La. This is the section that turns the trek from beautiful to serious. Altitude matters. Weather matters. Acclimatization matters. And crossing 5,416 meters is absolutely not something to rush because your itinerary says you need to be in Pokhara by Thursday. 😭 Traditional versions can take roughly two to three weeks, although road development means many modern itineraries shorten sections with vehicle transfers. Choose it for: variety, big landscapes and the classic long-distance Himalayan experience. Difficulty: challenging, mainly because of altitude and length. 2️⃣ Annapurna Base Camp: walk straight into a mountain amphitheater 🌄 If the Circuit feels too long but you still want that huge Himalayan payoff, Annapurna Base Camp, usually called ABC, is one of Nepal’s strongest options. The trail climbs through villages, forests and increasingly alpine terrain before entering the Annapurna Sanctuary. Then suddenly the mountains seem to surround you. ABC sits at around 4,130 meters, with massive peaks rising around the sanctuary. Nepal Tourism Board lists the traditional trek at roughly 8–12 days depending on route and pace. That final approach is why this trek is so loved. You’re not looking at the Himalayas from far away anymore. You’re walking directly into them. And waking up at base camp with the first light hitting the surrounding peaks? That’s the kind of morning where nobody complains about the cold. 🥹 Choose it for: dramatic mountain views without committing to a full circuit. Difficulty: moderate to challenging. 3️⃣ Tilicho Lake: turquoise water at almost 5,000 meters 💙 Tilicho is one of those places where the photos look edited even when they aren’t. The lake sits high in the Annapurna region at roughly 4,900 meters, surrounded by barren mountain slopes and Himalayan peaks. Nepal Tourism Board describes Tilicho as one of the region’s great high-altitude lake destinations. It’s commonly added as a side journey from the Annapurna Circuit around Manang. And “side trip” sounds suspiciously casual for something this high. 😭 Reaching Tilicho involves steep terrain and a serious altitude environment, so good acclimatization is essential. The reward is completely different from ABC. Instead of standing inside a mountain amphitheater, you arrive beside intensely blue water in a harsh, almost lunar landscape. Very little vegetation. Huge mountains. Cold wind. Turquoise lake. It feels remote even though it connects with one of Nepal’s most famous trekking regions. Choose it for: high-altitude lake scenery and adding something special to an Annapurna journey. Difficulty: challenging. 4️⃣ Mardi Himal: short trek, ridiculously big views 🏔️ Not everyone has two weeks. That’s where Mardi Himal becomes really interesting. This trek rises from the Pokhara side of the Annapurna region through forest before reaching increasingly exposed ridgelines with close views toward Machhapuchhre, or Fishtail Mountain, and the surrounding Annapurna peaks. The advantage? You get major Himalayan scenery in a much shorter timeframe than the Annapurna Circuit. A typical itinerary can be around 4–7 days, depending on where you start and finish. That makes Mardi especially appealing if Nepal is only part of a larger trip. But “short” doesn’t mean effortless. The route gains altitude quickly, and once you leave the forests the ridgeline feels much more exposed. Clear mornings are everything. Clouds can hide the mountains surprisingly quickly, so start early when heading toward the higher viewpoints. Choose it for: limited time, ridgeline scenery and huge views without a two-week commitment. Difficulty: moderate, with demanding higher sections. 5️⃣ Phoksundo Lake: Nepal’s remote blue-water dream 💎 Want something much quieter? Go west. Shey Phoksundo National Park lies in Dolpo, far from the heavily traveled Annapurna and Everest corridors. The centerpiece is Phoksundo Lake, famous for water that can appear an almost unbelievable shade of blue beneath the surrounding mountains. Nepal Tourism Board lists trekking as one of the park’s main activities and highlights Phoksundo Lake, Ringmo village and surrounding monasteries among its major attractions. The board identifies March–May and September–October as key trekking seasons for the park. But getting here is part of the challenge. This isn’t a simple drive from Kathmandu. Access commonly involves traveling through Nepalgunj and onward toward Dolpa before beginning the trek. And parts of Dolpo fall under Nepal’s restricted-area permit system, so the exact permits depend on your route. The Department of Immigration currently lists both Lower and Upper Dolpa within its restricted trekking framework. That remoteness is exactly why Phoksundo feels special. Choose it for: fewer crowds, wild landscapes and one of Nepal’s most memorable lakes. Difficulty: moderate to challenging, with additional logistical complexity. 6️⃣ Langtang Valley: the Himalayan trek surprisingly close to Kathmandu 🌲 You don’t need to travel across Nepal before reaching serious mountain scenery. Langtang Valley is north of Kathmandu and makes one of the most practical choices for travelers who want a proper Himalayan trek without adding another domestic flight. The route moves through forests and traditional settlements before reaching the upper valley around Kyanjin, which Nepal Tourism Board places at around 3,800 meters on its traditional route description. From there, trekkers often add higher day hikes depending on fitness, weather and trail conditions. What I like about Langtang is the balance. Forest. River valleys. Villages. Mountain scenery. Culture. And enough altitude to make it feel like a real Himalayan journey. Nepal Tourism Board lists March–May and October–November among the better periods for the region. If you only have around a week to trek, I’d absolutely keep Langtang on the shortlist. Choose it for: easy access from Kathmandu and a balanced mountain experience. Difficulty: moderate, with optional harder side hikes. 7️⃣ Manaslu Circuit: for trekkers who want the wilder alternative 🔥 Then there’s Manaslu. This is the trek I’d look at after deciding I want something more remote than the Annapurna classics. The circuit passes through villages with strong Tibetan cultural influence, deep river valleys and increasingly dramatic mountain terrain before crossing Larkya La, a high Himalayan pass. The experience is longer, more committing and more regulated than something like Mardi Himal. Manaslu is a restricted trekking area, so foreign trekkers need a special permit obtained through an authorized trekking agency. Nepal’s Department of Immigration currently lists the Manaslu restricted-area permit separately. And there’s an important current update if you’re planning for late 2026: sections of the Manaslu route were recently affected by flooding, but Nepal Tourism Board reported on September 11, 2026 that repairs had been completed and the earlier restriction around the affected Namrung section had been lifted. Travelers are still advised to check current local conditions before starting. That’s exactly why remote trekking plans should stay flexible. The mountains always get the final vote. Choose it for: remoteness, Tibetan-influenced villages and a serious circuit experience. Difficulty: challenging. 🥾 So which Nepal trek should you actually choose? The answer isn’t necessarily the most famous one. Choose based on time, altitude experience and what scenery excites you most. If you want the classic long journey → Annapurna Circuit If you want the big base-camp experience → Annapurna Base Camp If you want a high-altitude lake → Tilicho If you only have about a week → Mardi Himal If you want something remote and unusual → Phoksundo If you want something accessible from Kathmandu → Langtang If you want a serious remote circuit → Manaslu Suddenly choosing becomes much easier. 🛂 Permits are not one-size-fits-all This is something I would check BEFORE booking transportation. Nepal Tourism Board says trekkers need the relevant TIMS and/or protected-area permits depending on the route, while government-designated restricted regions require additional permits issued through Nepal’s Department of Immigration. The rules differ by trek. Annapurna routes involve the Annapurna Conservation Area. Langtang includes national-park requirements. Manaslu and parts of Dolpo involve restricted-area rules. So don’t assume: “My friend trekked ABC last year, so I need exactly the same paperwork for Manaslu.” You probably don’t. Check your specific route immediately before the trip because trekking regulations can change. 🌦️ The mountain season matters more than your cheap flight For many of Nepal’s classic Himalayan routes, spring and autumn are popular because of generally more favorable trekking conditions. But every region is different. Snow can close high passes. Monsoon rain can trigger landslides. Clouds can hide views. And September conditions can look completely different from November. Remote treks such as Manaslu or Dolpo especially deserve a fresh conditions check before departure. Never choose a high mountain route only because Instagram told you “October is perfect.” Mountains do not read Instagram. 😂 🏔️ Altitude deserves respect Several routes on this list climb above 4,000 meters. Some cross above 5,000 meters. Nepal Tourism Board warns that Acute Mountain Sickness can develop above 3,000 meters and recommends proper precautions for high-altitude trekkers. Being fit does not make you immune. Move gradually. Build acclimatization days into high routes. Stay hydrated. Know the warning signs. And never keep climbing because you’re afraid of “wasting” a trekking day. Turning around can be the smartest decision of the entire trip. 📌 Save these 7 Nepal treks for your Himalayan bucket list and send this to the person you’d trust to walk uphill with for ten days. Which one are you choosing: ANNAPURNA CIRCUIT 🏔️, ABC 🌄, TILICHO 💙, MARDI HIMAL 🥾, PHOKSUNDO 💎, LANGTANG 🌲 or MANASLU 🔥? #Nepal #NepalTravel #NepalTrekking #TrekkingInNepal #AnnapurnaCircuit #AnnapurnaBaseCamp #TilichoLake #MardiHimal #PhoksundoLake #Langtang #ManasluCircuit #Himalayas #AdventureTravel #VisitNepal #TripMoments

🇳🇵 ABC Trek: Walking Into the Heart of the Annapurna Himalayas 🥾🏔️ There are mountain views you admire from a distance. And then there is Annapurna Base Camp, where you walk for days until the mountains are no longer somewhere on the horizon. They are surrounding you. 🥹🇳🇵 Sitting at around 4,130 meters / 13,550 feet, Annapurna Base Camp is one of Nepal’s most iconic trekking destinations and one of those places where the final view feels completely different because you had to earn it one step at a time. No cable car. No quick viewpoint stop. Just villages, forests, stone staircases, suspension bridges, cold mornings, teahouses and mountains getting bigger every single day. 🥾 The journey is what makes ABC special The destination is spectacular, but the trek itself is the real experience. You usually begin much lower in the Annapurna region, where the landscape feels green and almost tropical. There are farms. Terraced hillsides. Small settlements. Forests. Rivers. Then gradually, everything changes. The air gets cooler. The vegetation becomes thinner. The valley gets narrower. And the snowy peaks that seemed impossibly far away suddenly start towering directly above you. That transformation is one of the reasons ABC is so memorable. You’re not simply arriving at a mountain. You’re watching the Himalayas take over the landscape around you. 🌿 One trek, completely different environments One day you may be walking through a dense rhododendron forest. Another day you’re climbing stone steps through a village. Then suddenly you’re above much of the vegetation, surrounded by rock, snow and enormous Himalayan walls. That variety makes the trek feel much bigger than the final altitude number suggests. You might start the day in a green valley and finish it somewhere that feels like another planet. And because you’re traveling on foot, you notice every transition. The temperature. The plants. The architecture. The food. Even the sound of the landscape changes as you climb higher. 🏔️ Then you enter the Annapurna Sanctuary This is the part I’d be waiting for. As you approach Machhapuchhre Base Camp and continue toward Annapurna Base Camp, the mountains begin forming a natural amphitheater around the trail. This area is known as the Annapurna Sanctuary. Suddenly, peaks are appearing in almost every direction. Annapurna I. Annapurna South. Hiunchuli. Machhapuchhre. And other Himalayan giants surrounding the valley. You’ve spent days walking toward them. Then eventually there is nowhere farther to look. You’re inside the mountains. That must be an unreal feeling. 🥹🏔️ 🇳🇵 4,130 meters: the ABC moment Then finally: ANNAPURNA BASE CAMP 4,130 M The sign everyone wants the photo with. But I think the moment would mean much more after the trek. Your legs are tired. Your clothes probably smell suspicious. You’re cold. You’ve climbed more stairs than you ever want to discuss again. 😭 And somehow none of that matters. Because behind the sign is one of the most dramatic mountain landscapes in Nepal. That photo isn’t just proof that you reached 4,130 meters. It represents every kilometer before it. 🌄 Wake up for sunrise. Seriously. If the weather cooperates, one of the highlights of staying around base camp is seeing the mountains around sunrise. The first light slowly reaches the highest peaks. Grey turns pink. Pink becomes orange. Then the entire landscape begins glowing while the valley is still freezing cold. This is one occasion where I would willingly accept an alarm before sunrise. 😂 Bring layers. Bring gloves. Take the photo. Then put your phone away for a few minutes. Some places deserve at least one moment without looking through a screen. 🛖 Teahouse trekking is part of the Nepal experience ABC isn’t normally a wilderness camping expedition for most trekkers. You travel through settlements and stay in teahouses or trekking lodges along the route. They’re generally simple rather than luxurious. A room. A bed. A place to eat. Somewhere to warm up. Maybe a hot shower depending on the stop and facilities. After hours of hiking, that starts feeling luxurious enough. 😂 The dining room also becomes part of the experience. Trekkers from completely different countries sit around eating, checking tomorrow’s weather and discussing how many stairs everyone survived that day. 🍚 Dal bhat becomes your best friend You will burn a LOT of energy trekking. This is where dal bhat starts making complete sense. Rice. Lentils. Vegetables. Pickles. Simple, filling and exactly what you want after walking for hours. You’ll also find dishes such as noodles, soups, potatoes, fried rice and momo at many trekking lodges. But remember: The higher you go, the harder it is to transport supplies. Food becomes more expensive. Menus may become simpler. And suddenly that cup of hot tea feels worth absolutely everything. 🌬️ 4,130m is serious altitude ABC is accessible compared with some of Nepal’s highest trekking routes, but 4,130 meters is still high altitude. Don’t treat it like a normal hill walk. Altitude affects everyone differently. You can be young, athletic and extremely fit and still feel symptoms. The important thing is to ascend at a sensible pace, stay hydrated and pay attention to how your body responds. Headache, unusual fatigue, nausea, dizziness or worsening symptoms should never become something you simply “push through” because base camp is close. The mountain isn’t going anywhere. Your safety matters more than the photo. 🗓️ How long should you allow? ABC itineraries vary considerably depending on your starting point, trekking speed and whether you combine the route with places such as Ghorepani and Poon Hill. Some trekkers complete shorter versions in around a week, while more relaxed itineraries can take longer. Personally, I’d rather give the trek an extra day than turn every morning into: “Okay, we need to walk faster.” 😭 The Himalayas deserve more than a race. Extra time also gives you breathing room for weather, tired legs or simply stopping somewhere beautiful longer than planned. 🌦️ Weather controls the experience This is the Himalayas. Clear skies are never guaranteed. One morning can be perfectly blue. The next might bring cloud, rain or snow depending on altitude and season. That’s why flexibility matters. The mountain you came to photograph could disappear behind cloud for an entire afternoon and then suddenly reveal itself for ten minutes at sunrise. When it happens? You understand why people wait. 🎒 What I’d prioritize packing I wouldn’t try to bring my entire suitcase into the mountains. 😭 For a trek like ABC, think in layers. Good trekking shoes. Warm layers. Waterproof outer layer. Sun protection. Gloves and hat for colder sections. Water bottle. Power bank. Personal medication. Basic first-aid supplies. And something comfortable to change into after trekking. The temperature difference between sunny lower valleys and early mornings near base camp can be huge. Pack for the mountains, not for the weather you felt in Pokhara. 📸 Take photos, but respect the mountains and villages The Annapurna region is not simply one giant trekking attraction. People live along these routes. Villages are homes. Religious sites deserve respect. And the mountain environment is fragile. Carry your waste responsibly. Follow local rules. Ask before taking close-up photographs of people. Support local lodges and communities where possible. The goal should be to leave with memories, not leave your rubbish behind. 💛 Why ABC belongs on a Nepal bucket list Annapurna Base Camp isn’t Nepal’s longest trek. It isn’t the highest. And you don’t need to be a mountaineer to experience it. That might actually be what makes it so special. You get forests. Villages. Himalayan culture. High-altitude landscapes. Massive mountains. Sunrise. Teahouse life. And the feeling of physically walking deeper and deeper into one of the world’s great mountain ranges. Then you finally stand at 4,130 meters, surrounded by peaks you’ve spent days approaching. And for a moment, the tired legs, cold mornings and endless stairs all make sense. Some destinations are beautiful because of what you see. ABC is beautiful because of everything it takes to get there. 🇳🇵🥾🏔️ 📍 Annapurna Base Camp, Nepal 🏔️ Altitude: 4,130m / approximately 13,550 ft 📌 Save this for your future Nepal trekking adventure and send it to the person you’d trust to walk uphill with for several days. 😂 Would you take on the Annapurna Base Camp trek? 🇳🇵🥾 #AnnapurnaBaseCamp #ABCTrek #Nepal #NepalTrekking #Annapurna #Himalayas #TrekkingInNepal #VisitNepal #NepalTravel #MountainAdventure #HikingNepal #AdventureTravel #ExploreNepal #NepalTrip #TripMoments

Perched high in the Annapurna region, Ghandruk is one of Nepal’s most beautiful mountain villages. Surrounded by terraced hillsides, traditional stone houses, and breathtaking Himalayan peaks, it offers a perfect blend of culture, nature, and adventure. The moment I arrived, I was greeted by panoramic views of the Annapurna and Machhapuchhre ranges rising above the clouds. The scenery was nothing short of spectacular. 🏡 Walking through the village felt like stepping into a different world. Narrow stone pathways, traditional Gurung homes, and friendly locals created an atmosphere full of warmth and authenticity. 🌿 The surrounding landscape is equally impressive, with lush forests, terraced fields, and mountain trails stretching toward the horizon. 🏔️ Every sunrise brings a magical transformation as the first rays of light paint the snow-capped peaks in shades of gold and orange. ☁️ The ever-changing mountain weather adds to the charm, with clouds drifting through the valleys and revealing new perspectives of the Himalayas throughout the day. 📸 My favorite moment was standing at a viewpoint early in the morning, watching the majestic peaks emerge above a sea of clouds. ✨ Ghandruk is more than a trekking stop—it’s a place where culture, tradition, and Himalayan beauty come together perfectly. 📍 Ghandruk, Annapurna Region, Nepal 🇳🇵 “Some villages sit beneath mountains. Ghandruk lives among them.” ✨ #Ghandruk #Nepal #Annapurna #Himalayas #TravelPhotography #TripMoments #Tripcom #MountainViews #NatureLovers #Wanderlust #TravelMemories #ExploreNepal #TrekkingAdventure #BeautifulDestinationss

#kindnessontheroad The Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek in Nepal is a stair-stepper’s nightmare, with endless ascents and descents. By the time I reached Machapuchare Base Camp (MBC), the altitude was making me dizzy and nauseous. I sat on a rock, trying to force down a protein bar, but my hands were shaking too much. A passing Sherpa named Pemba stopped. He didn't speak much English, but he reached into his jacket and produced a small foil packet of glucose powder. He tore it open, poured it directly onto my tongue, and waited until the sugar hit my system and the color returned to my face. He then pointed to my water bottle, miming drinking, before continuing his climb. On the ABC trek, pack high-energy snacks and Diamox if prone to altitude sickness. Acclimatize properly—don’t skip rest days. The teahouses sell Snickers bars at triple the price, but sometimes, it’s the kindness of a stranger offering basic medicine or sugar that keeps you going. Pemba’s silence spoke volumes; in the Himalayas, everyone understands the struggle. Always carry a basic first-aid kit, including glucose or candy, not just for yourself, but for others in need. What’s your go-to remedy for altitude sickness?

#backpacking2026 Nepal looks like the kind of trip you can just throw a backpack on for and figure out as you go. And honestly, you can, but a few things are definitely worth knowing before you land. If you’re planning Nepal in 2026, here’s the little checklist I’d keep saved. 🎒 Places I’d Put on the List · Kathmandu · Pokhara · Chitwan · Bandipur · Nagarkot · Lumbini · Ghandruk · Everest Base Camp 🥾 My Easy Backpacking Route Days 1-2: Kathmandu Days 3-5: Pokhara Days 6-7: Ghandruk Days 8-9: Chitwan Day 10: Kathmandu Keep it flexible. Nepal is one of those places where I’d rather leave a day unplanned than spend the whole trip rushing between buses. 👀 Things Photos Don’t Really Show · Mountain weather can change ridiculously quickly, especially on treks. · Roads can take much longer than they look on a map. · Altitude is not something to “push through”. Take it seriously. · Cash is still useful in smaller towns and villages. · Your backpack will feel heavier after a few hours of walking. Pack less than you think! · Dal bhat is more than just a meal here, you’ll see why locals love it once you’re travelling around. 🤯 Random Nepal Facts I Loved · Nepal has 8 of the world’s 14 mountains above 8,000m. · The country is home to Mount Everest, the highest mountain above sea level. · Nepal’s flag is the only national flag that isn’t rectangular. · Kathmandu Valley has seven UNESCO World Heritage monument zones. 📌 Before You Go Wear proper walking shoes, carry layers, download offline maps and don’t underestimate travel time. #sunrisescenes There are some places where getting up at 4AM actually feels worth it. Sarangkot is one of them. If you’re visiting Pokhara, I’d seriously put this sunrise ahead of sleeping in. The first light over the Himalayas, the cold morning air and Pokhara slowly waking up below you make it feel like one of those travel moments you’ll remember. 🌄 Things I’d want to know first · Sarangkot is around 1,600m above sea level, so mornings can be properly chilly. · On a clear day, you can see Machhapuchhre (Fishtail), Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. · The mountain colours keep changing after sunrise, so don’t rush back straight away. · Paragliding is another big reason people come here. Watching the first flights take off is pretty cool. · Sarangkot is a village too, so you’ll see a much quieter side of Pokhara once the sunrise crowd disappears. · The sunrise is weather-dependent. A cloudy morning can completely change the view, so check the forecast before leaving. 📍 Places to visit · Sarangkot View Tower · Sarangkot Sunrise Point · Sarangkot Paragliding Take-off · Kaskikot · Naudanda ☕ A few tips Go early, take a warm layer and keep some cash for tea or breakfast afterwards. And honestly, don’t leave the second the sun appears, some of the prettiest colours come a little later. Would you wake up at 4am for this view? #adventuretrips So yesterday afternoon, we started our hike up the mountain and it got super foggy. Then it poured rain all night. I honestly thought we'd missed our chance to see the mountains glow golden, but wow, waking up this morning was such a pleasant surprise!!! As the sun started coming up, the clouds and mist around the snowy peaks slowly cleared away. When that golden light hit the Annapurna range, our whole group was just speechless - it was that beautiful. Turns out you don't need to do the tough ABC trek to see Machapuchare glow golden 69 Here's a quick rundown of our itinerary (2-Day, 1-Night Chill Trip) (Go backwards for fewer crowds and better views!) Day Pokhara → Aussie Camp → Catch the Sunset · Morning: Sleep in at your Pokhara hotel, grab some breakfast, then head out. · Noon: Grab a jeep or share one to Kande or Dhampus (about 1.5 hours drive), then start your chill hike. · Afternoon: About 1.5-2 hours of hiking gets you to Aussie Camp. The path is mostly flat with gorgeous countryside views along the way. Evening: Check into your guesthouse. There are a few options up there. We stayed at Angels Guest House - that cute red house in the pics. The view of sunrise and sunset right from the door is amazing, and the location is perfect. Plus, you can have a bonfire BBQ in the courtyard at night. · Night: Enjoy a real Nepalese dinner, chat with travelers from everywhere by the fire, and look up at the stunning Milky Way and starry sky! Day Golden Mountain → Head Down → Back to Pokhara · Early Morning: This is the main event! Gotta wake up early! (Usually around 5:30-6:30 AM, depending on the season) · The Magic Moment: Watching Machapuchare's peak turn golden with the first sunlight. It only lasts a few minutes, but it's something you'll remember forever! Snap lots of pics and videos! · After Breakfast: Take your time heading down. You can go back the same way or try a different path to Pothana for some new views. · Noon: Get back to the bottom, where your ride will pick you up and take you back to Pokhara. [Super Helpful Tips to Avoid Common Mistakes) Getting Around: Book your jeep up the mountain a day ahead from a travel agency near Phewa Lake in Pokhara. Sharing a ride is the way to go for the best deal. Where to Stay: The guesthouses at Aussie Camp are pretty basic, but they're clean and cozy. Pack a light towel just in case. Cash! Cash! Cash! There's nowhere to get money on the mountain, so bring extra Nepalese Rupees for your room, food, and hot water. Go Backwards: Seriously, try hiking up on day one to catch the sunset, then head up again on day two for the sunrise. It's way more chill than rushing up early for sunrise, and you get to see the mountains in two different lights. When to Go: Best time is October to April - that's the dry season when you're most likely to see the mountains glow golden! · -- "Two hours of a tough hike for a moment of pure magic that l'Il never forget. #easytravelpost Mardi Himal is the Annapurna fringe trek that exploded after 2015—8 days max, sometimes done in 4 from Pokhara with jeep hops. I took a Pokhara–Kande jeep (NPR 400), walked to Australian Camp, then Forest Camp, Low Camp (3,150 m), High Camp, and the Mardi viewpoint (4,500 m). ACAP NPR 3,000, TIMS folded by agency, licensed guide USD 25/day mandatory. Low Camp is where it changes: the trees thin, rhododendron trunks lean over a cliff edge, and Machapuchare sits 2 km across the valley, close enough to count the snow gullies. High Camp is a windblasted shelf with a 6 a.m. walk to the viewpoint—no rail, 300 m drop on your left, Annapurna South filling the right. Mistake: I booked High Camp in January and the teahouse was half-frozen, water bucket ice in the morning. Should have slept at Low Camp and climbed early. Another: I trusted a blog saying “no water past Forest Camp”—there is a tap at Low Camp, NPR 100 for a refill. Trail is muddy in May; gaiters + poles. Would you push to High Camp for the sunrise, or sleep lower and accept a 2-hour pre-dawn climb?

There are several other beautiful viewpoints worth exploring in Pokhara Methlang: Peaceful Mountain Views Methlang is a peaceful hill above Pokhara that offers beautiful views of the Himalayas, Pokhara Valley, and surrounding green hills. ⛰️✨ Nepal’s Wonder Duo: Ghandruk & Patan Darbar Square Kick off your Himalayan adventure in Ghandruk, a postcard-perfect mountain village surrounded by Annapurna views and terraced fields. Next, step back in time at Patan Darbar Square, Lalitpur’s UNESCO gem packed with ancient palaces and dazzling Newari architecture. For Ghandruk (33700, Nepal, open all day): Start early and soak in the village trails, visit the Gurung Museum to learn about local culture, and don’t miss a sunrise walk for jaw-dropping Himalayan panoramas—the morning mist gives your photos that dreamy vibe! Mingle with friendly locals over a cup of chai, and pack layers (weather flips fast at altitude). Insta tip: Shoot from the viewpoints above the village just after sunrise for those epic cloud-and-peak shots! For Patan Darbar Square (Lalitpur 44600, Nepal, open all day): Wander the centuries-old courtyards, marvel at the intricately carved doors and windows, and visit the Hiranya Varna Mahavihar (Golden Temple) for golden photo opportunities. Stay alert for crowds—early morning offers peaceful vibes and soft light for photography. Don’t skip the Patan Museum (for art buffs) and local street food stalls (try chatamari, the Nepali pizza!). A tip: Watch your belongings, as squares can get busy. Plan your route: Travel from Ghandruk to Lalitpur by private car or bus (allow at least half a day for transit between regions). Carry cash, since smaller villages and many monuments don’t accept cards. #Nepal #Ghandruk #Lalitpur #TravelGuide #MustSee

Day 1 in Pokhara was a proper rollercoaster, but mostly full of good vibes! I touched down at Pokhara International Airport (Pokhara 33700, Nepal) and cruised straight to 31 Park Hotel (Hallan Chowk, Lakeside Rd). This spot is SO worth it — spotless rooms and the staff? Absolutely legendary. Kicking off your trip here is a win, trust me. Dinner was at Busy Bee Café (Lakeside Rd, Pokhara 33700, Nepal), which everyone hypes up, but for me the food just did NOT live up to the buzz. The vibe’s cool though, with people chilling indoors and those colorful prayer flags lighting up the night. Next morning, I started things off with a peaceful darshan at Barahi Temple (Barahi Temple Rd, Phewa Lake, Pokhara 33700) — loved the tranquil atmosphere and stunning lakeside views. Total zen moment. Hotel switch-up: tried out Jade City (Pardi Bazaar, Pokhara 33700). Big regret, fam. Service was meh and definitely a step down from 31 Park. Save yourself the hassle and stick with 31 Park for max comfort. The day got its groove back with a visit to Kazye Geko Café (Lakeside, Pokhara 33700). Major gem alert! The food here was sooo good and the whole place just oozes chill energy. To wrap up, Pokhara’s nightlife totally brought the heat — neon lights, music, new friends, and epic memories all around. Despite a miss or two, this city still has my heart! Pro tip: 31 Park Hotel is the move for your Pokhara stay, and don’t sleep on the city’s after-dark scene. Ready for round 2 already!

Looking for a Pokhara hideaway that’s all about vibes, views, and eco-goodness? Krazy Gecko is your spot, and trust me, it’s a total level-up from your usual Lakeside scene. Hidden above Lakeside, in the peaceful forests of Pame, Krazy Gecko swaps all the honking and tourist hustle for chill birdsong, bamboo magic, and *epic* panoramas of Fewa Lake and the mighty Annapurna range. Imagine: you’re lounging at a wooden table, surrounded by artsy wooden statues, with a cute thatched roof above and lush greenery everywhere. Yep, it’s THAT dreamy. The scene here is suuuuuper laid-back and earthy: think cozy wooden cottages, hammocks swinging under old trees, and an organic garden that literally serves up your next meal. At night, you drift off to crickets singing, and in the AM, Machhapuchhre glows right outside your window. Honestly, it’s the place where you sip local chiya on a stone terrace and finally remember how to slow down ✨. Let’s talk eco: Krazy Gecko totally nails sustainability, but it never feels forced. They use solar power, rainwater harvesting, composting, and lush permaculture gardens as a natural part of life here. The farm-to-table eats are delish (because, hello, veggies straight from their garden!), buildings are crafted from local stone and mud, and the owners are *seriously* into reforestation right around the property. Location Basics: Krazy Gecko Guest House Pame, Pokhara, Nepal A quick 10-15 min drive from Pokhara Lakeside (best to arrange a taxi—ask them for deets) Open: Year-round; swing by for breakfast, lunch, or go full zen and book a stay! So, if you’re down for Pokhara’s gorgeous nature but wanna skip the concrete and crowds, Krazy Gecko is the unplugged, eco-loving retreat you NEED. Disconnect. Breathe that amazing mountain air. And best part? Your visit actually gives back to the environment. Good vibes only.
