The theme of this trip: A Cherry Blossom Journey. This was my first time visiting Shikoku. I didn't know much about it before the trip, but I absolutely fell in love with it once I arrived! Not only do you get to experience the local Japanese lifestyle up close, but the relatively low number of tourists makes for an incredibly high-quality travel experience! This time, I'm highlighting "Ise Asahiyama Hongu" in Mitoyo City. Nestled halfway up the mountain, you're greeted by cherry blossoms in full bloom lining the road as you drive up 🌸. I was initially worried that the light rain today might ruin the blooming season, but seeing this instantly hyped me up! The shrine draws people in with its mystical vermilion torii gate and thatched grass ring (Chinowa). There are plenty of flat parking lots 🅿️. Everywhere you look, Japanese families are laying out picnic mats under the trees to enjoy the cherry blossoms 🌸. With a gentle breeze blowing, it's just so relaxing! There are about 2,000 cherry trees here. Surrounded by the vibrant blossoms in full bloom, you feel a profound sense of spiritual healing just being here! Hiking further up, you get a beautiful panoramic view overlooking the Great Seto Bridge. The breathtaking scenery combining the mountains, cherry blossoms, the ocean, and the Great Seto Bridge is simply stunning! This time, I'm sharing 3 must-visit spots in Kagawa Prefecture! When you think of Kagawa, you probably think of udon, right? 😋 But here are some sightseeing spots that have nothing to do with udon! 💡 All 3 locations are relatively close to each other, so you can easily hit them all in one day. 🚙 1. Chichibugahama Beach Often called the Salar de Uyuni of Japan. ✨ It's a shallow, long beach that stretches for about 1 km, and the clarity of its water reflections is unmatched anywhere else in the country!! There are volunteer staff on-site who offer free rentals of photogenic red umbrellas and will even take pictures for you. 📸 You're guaranteed to capture some amazing, memorable photos here! 💖 2. Konpirasan (Kotohiragu Shrine) Famous for the incredibly long stone steps leading up to the main shrine! There are 785 steps to the main shrine, and 1,368 steps to the inner shrine (Okusha) located further back. 😳 The deity enshrined here is said to bring good fortune and prosperity to all aspects of daily life, including agricultural production, medicine, and the improvement of skills. ✨ The climb is tough, but the view from the top is absolutely breathtaking!! If the climb sounds too daunting, you can drive up to the Shiseido Parlour parking lot near the 500th step. If you have a car, definitely check it out. 🚗 3. Zenigata Sunae (Coin-Shaped Sand Art) Located inside Kotohiki Park in Kanonji City, this is a massive sand drawing of a "Kanei Tsuho" (an ancient Japanese coin) sculpted into the white sand! The best way to see it is by looking down from the "Kotohiki Park Summit Observatory" on the adjacent mountain, so be sure to head up there for the perfect view. 🚙 It's also illuminated every night until 10:00 PM! 💡

If you time it right, you can walk all the way across to the neighboring island. They offer amazing experiences like feeding them or even swimming alongside them. Seeing these adorable dolphins so closely is a rare treat you won't often find at a typical aquarium. On this particular day, the low tide coincided with calm winds, creating a stunning reflection of the sky on the sea, which was truly breathtaking. Although it wasn't during the evening, I was thrilled to see the scenery I had only seen in photos with my own eyes. There were also stylish eateries nearby, including coffee shops, donut shops, and burger joints, making it a great spot to enjoy lunch. I visited around 12:30 PM on a weekday, and it wasn't crowded. A short walk led me to a tranquil area where I could relax and enjoy a blissful moment while gazing at the sea.
