[Miyagi] Authentic Pretzels in the Countryside: A Bakery You’re Lucky to Score! 🥖
Introducing a bakery where you’ll be lucky to snag a treat! 🥖 My absolute top pick is the perfectly salty pretzel. 🥨 They only make a few, so I made sure to arrive right at opening! ☺✨
📍 Address: 63-2 Yamaderamachi Higashi, Yamamoto-cho, Watari-gun, Miyagi Prefecture 989-2201
☎ Phone: 0223-23-0911
⌚ Hours: According to the notice posted at the shop, the hours differ from what’s listed on Google. The schedule through late July 2026 is as follows.
⚠️ I recommend confirming the exact business hours 🈺 with the shop.
Mon, Tue, Wed: Closed
Thu, Fri: 11:00 AM — 6:00 PM
Sat: 10:00 AM — 5:00 PM
Sun: 10:00 AM — 3:00 PM
1️⃣ It’s a bakery located in a regular residential house. Purchases are made by selecting items from a showcase, similar to a cake shop. It’s very reassuring from a hygiene standpoint! ☺ While the selection isn't huge, every loaf looks eye-catching and delicious. A customer who arrived right after me—likely a local—popped in just to grab a single baguette 🥖 and left. It must be amazing... I wish I had bought one too.
2️⃣ SDGs 🈹 Discounts
If you’re lucky, you might find some deals! ✨ There was a corner featuring bread from the previous day at half price. On the day I visited, they had sweet potato & cream cheese and mentai (cod roe) butter. Since they were at a budget-friendly half-price of 180 yen, I grabbed them! Both were delicious, but the mentai butter was a perfect match of salty-savory flavor, buttery sweetness, and chewy texture. 😋 I’d definitely buy this again even at full price.
3️⃣ There are chairs 🪑 both inside and outside, so you can eat your purchase right away! ☺
4️⃣ Universal Design ♿
Though it’s a small shop, there is a well-maintained slope for wheelchair access. Please be careful as the shop door 🚪 is quite heavy.

Tsubame no Mori Chuo Park ⛲️: Located diagonally across from the shop, this park is perfect for a stroll or letting kids enjoy the playground equipment. In the summer, there’s a splash pad area where water jets out from the ground, and kids were having a blast in T-shirts 👕, shorts 🩳, and swimsuits.
Free Rental Bicycles 🚴♀️: The shop is near JR Yamashita Station, where you can actually rent bicycles for free! There are also rentals near JR Sakamoto Station. If you’re confident in your stamina 💪 and want to explore Yamamoto Town by bike, you should definitely give it a try! 😊 (See the 2nd to last 📷 photo)
For a limited time, Yamamoto Town also has sunflower fields 🌻 where you can view or pick flowers for free 🈚. It could be a lovely walk to get there! 💖 (See the last 📷 photo)
