The main churches are the following: Worms Cathedral (Dom St. Peter): Worms Cathedral is a magnificent High Romanesque basilica built between 1130 and 1181 on the highest point in the city. As Worms' crowning landmark, it features four round corner towers, two large domes, and a stunning Baroque high altar designed by Balthasar Neumann. It famously served as the dramatic historical backdrop for the Diet of Worms in 1521, where Martin Luther stood trial and refused to recant his teachings. St. Magnuskirche (St. Magnus Church): St. Magnuskirche is one of the oldest surviving churches in southwest Germany, originally built as a small Carolingian church in the 8th or 9th century before being expanded over the centuries. It holds a pivotal place in religious history as the very first church in the region to adopt the Lutheran Reformation as early as 1521. Today, it features a stark, solemn historic interior that was meticulously rebuilt following severe damage in World War II. Liebfrauenkirche (Church of Our Lady): Liebfrauenkirche is a striking red-sandstone Gothic pilgrimage church constructed outside the old city walls during the 14th and 15th centuries. The church is uniquely surrounded entirely by a historic vineyard that gave birth to the world-famous "Liebfraumilch" wine. Its beautiful architecture is defined by delicate stone carvings, towering medieval arches, and an intricately restored vaulted ceiling. St. Martin's Church (St. Martinskirche): St. Martin's Church is a severe, fortress-like Romanesque basilica built in the 12th century in the heart of the city center. It stands on a site traditionally associated with a Roman-era dungeon where Saint Martin of Tours was allegedly imprisoned for refusing to fight. The building boasts a heavy stone exterior, an intricately carved late-Gothic northern portal, and a peaceful inner courtyard cloister. St. Paul's Church (St. Pauluskirche): St. Paul's Church is a heavy Romanesque complex founded in the early 11th century by Bishop Burchard on the ruins of an old Salian castle. It is instantly recognizable by its striking, exotic silhouette, which features two unique oriental-influenced dome towers inspired by Byzantine architecture. Today, it operates alongside an active Dominican monastery and offers a serene cloister garden that is open to the public. It's so refreshing visiting churches in a hot day. #travel #church

Worms, located in the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate on the banks of the Rhine River, has a population of approximately 85,000 and is one of Germany's oldest cities, boasting over two thousand years of history. In ancient Roman times, it was an important military and trading center. In 1521, Martin Luther refused to withdraw his religious beliefs at the "Worms Parliament," a pivotal event in the history of the Reformation. Worms is also a key stage for the epic poem "The Nibelungenlied" and hosts the Nibelungen Theatre Festival annually. The city's most famous attractions include the magnificent Worms Cathedral, the Luther Memorial, and St. Sand's Cemetery, one of the oldest Jewish cemeteries in Europe, making it an ancient city rich in history, religion, and culture.

Frankenthal, located in eastern Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, lies on the upper Rhine plain, between Ludwigshafen and Worms, and has a population of approximately 50,000. Founded in the Middle Ages, the city welcomed a large influx of religious refugees from the Netherlands in the 16th century, who brought with them textile, painting, and ceramic techniques, stimulating local economic and cultural development. In the 18th century, the renowned Frankenthal Porzellanmanufaktur porcelain factory became famous throughout Europe for its high-quality porcelain, making it one of Germany's important porcelain manufacturing centers. Today, the city center still retains pleasant pedestrian streets, squares, and historical buildings, and the Erkenbert Museum showcases the city's history and porcelain culture. The annual Strohhutfest (Straw Hat Festival) is one of Germany's largest street festivals, attracting numerous visitors.

It's located on the left bank of the Rhine River in the southwest German state of Rhineland-Palatinate. Founded by the Romans around 10 BC, it stands as one of Germany's oldest cities and served as a major center of gravity for the Holy Roman Empire during the Middle Ages. Speyer holds a monumental place in European religious and political history: The Imperial Seat: Under the medieval Salian dynasty, Speyer became a powerhouse of imperial authority. The Birth of "Protestantism": During the Diet of Speyer in 1529, a group of princes and imperial cities officially protested a ruling ban on Lutheranism. This pivotal event coined the term "Protestantism". Jewish Heritage: During the Middle Ages, Speyer was one of the influential "ShUM" cities (alongside Worms and Mainz), forming the cradle of Ashkenazi Jewish culture in Europe. Speyer Cathedral (Kaiserdom): Founded in 1030 by Emperor Conrad II, this massive red-sandstone basilica is the largest preserved Romanesque church in the world. It features a breathtaking crypt holding the tombs of eight Holy Roman Emperors and German kings. The Judenhof (Jewish Courtyard): This site contains the ruins of a medieval synagogue and the deepest, oldest intact ritual bath (Mikveh) in Germany, dating back to 1128. Altpörtel (Old Gate): Standing at the western end of the historic town, this 55-meter-high medieval gate tower offers travelers sweeping panoramic views of the old city and the cathedral. Maximilianstraße: The city's main 600-meter-long historic promenade linking the Altpörtel to the Cathedral. It is lined with outdoor cafés, pastel-colored boutiques, and the late-Baroque city hall. #travel #church #citycenter #gate

Arriving in Worms on the banks of the Rhine, the first thing that will surely strike you is the Wormser Dom (Worms Cathedral). This ancient cathedral, a blend of Romanesque and Baroque styles, boasts red sandstone that looks particularly majestic in the winter light, perfect for taking some "cool German-style" photos. After visiting the cathedral, a short walk towards the city center pedestrian area will take you to the Worms Christmas Market. While there aren't many stalls, the market is cozy and inviting, perfect for leisurely browsing and soaking up the festive atmosphere. Here you can enjoy mulled wine from local wineries, hot Reibekuchen (German potato cakes), as well as handmade ornaments, small gifts, and various sweets. It's especially photogenic when the lights come on at night, creating the perfect festive atmosphere 🎄 If you prefer a quieter, less crowded Weihnachtsmarkt, Worms will be a delightful little surprise 🎄✨

#europetrip Dom St. Peter is the number 1 tourist attraction of Worms. Though you can find many similar cathedrals across Germany or Europe and neither is it the grandest one, I like it due to its few special features. First, it is the shape of the high towers. They are cylindrical rather than the commonly seen rectangular. The stained glasses, not the ones showing religious stories or holy figures but the plain ones, are lovely. Together with some of the stone and wood cravings displayed inside, it made my visit pleasant and tranquillizing though I am not a religious person.

Visit the city of Worms in Germany. Very famous for Martin Luther, it has the largest monument of reformation in the world. It took lots of guts to flight the catholic church but Luther was not afraid of this journey 500 years ago. Enjoy this little city.

The old town of Regensburg was listed as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 2006, and the official website of Regensburg even described it as "a magical place where every stone exudes charm", which gave me a little more anticipation. When you come to Regensburg, be sure to appreciate the beauty of the cathedral, the town hall, the stone bridge and the Danube. The cathedral is the landmark of Regensburg. The Gothic spire can be seen from afar, and it is even more magnificent when viewed up close. The entire church looks elegant and sacred with vines and angel carvings decorating the exterior walls. When I walked into the church, I saw that all the windows were decorated with stained glass. Unfortunately, my phone couldn’t capture the beauty of the glass. However, as soon as I walked into the church, I felt a cold breeze blowing. In addition, in order to allow tourists to see the patterns on the stained glass, there was only dim lighting in the church, and the whole atmosphere was very "special"! Keep walking forward from the church and you will soon reach the town hall. The exterior of Regensburg's town hall looks inconspicuous, but as soon as you get here you will know that you have arrived at your destination, because the town hall is the tourist center of Regensburg. Outside there is a group of foreigners looking at maps. Maybe I am too used to seeing magnificent buildings, so it is really difficult for me to appreciate the beauty of the town hall. Just like the old town of Regensburg is listed as a World Cultural Heritage, it is not because of any particularly unique buildings, but because the whole area is full of buildings over a hundred years old, forming a lazy ancient European style... However, my cultural level is not high enough, so I can hardly enjoy the scenery of Regensburg! #GermanyTravel #Germany #GermanyTourism
