The "Zhili Library" is located within Baoding City's Ancient Lotus Pond Garden. It was originally built in the 34th year of Emperor Guangxu's reign in the Qing Dynasty (1908), making it the earliest modern public library established in the region north of the Yangtze River. The library is a two-story, 42-room Western-style building with a convex floor plan and a clock tower on top, covering a building area of approximately 240 square meters. It was originally named the "Zhili Provincial Library." When it opened in 1909, it had a collection of approximately 2,000 volumes and 100,000 fascicles, available for public borrowing. Historically, the Zhili Library underwent many changes. The original building is now preserved as a cultural relic and is often used for cultural activities such as calligraphy and painting exhibitions.
