 🇲🇾✈️ Kuala Lumpur → Beijing from RM480 | Shenzhen Airlines 🇨🇳

Planning a trip to China without spending too much on airfare? ✈️🇨🇳 This Kuala Lumpur → Beijing journey is definitely one to keep on your travel list, especially with fares starting from just RM480 one way with Shenzhen Airlines.

Flying from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL), this itinerary includes a transit in Shenzhen, before continuing your journey towards Beijing. What makes this route even more attractive is the baggage allowance — you can bring 23kg of checked baggage + 5kg of hand carry, giving you plenty of space for clothes, souvenirs, snacks and everything you might want to bring back from China. 🧳✨

🔴 Flying with Shenzhen Airlines

For this journey, you’ll be flying with Shenzhen Airlines, a Chinese airline based in Shenzhen. The transit gives you the opportunity to experience one of China’s major aviation hubs before continuing to the capital.

If your transit time allows, Shenzhen itself is an interesting city to explore. Known for its futuristic skyline, modern architecture, technology industry, shopping districts and vibrant food scene, Shenzhen feels very different from the historic atmosphere of Beijing.

Even if you only have time to stay at the airport, Shenzhen Bao’an International Airport (SZX) is modern and spacious, with restaurants, cafés, shops and comfortable areas where you can relax while waiting for your connecting flight. ☕✈️

🏙️ Arriving in Beijing

After your transit in Shenzhen, continue onwards to Beijing, one of the most historically important cities in China and a destination packed with iconic landmarks.

Your first stop should be the legendary Great Wall of China. 🏔️ It is one of the world's most recognisable landmarks and offers spectacular views across the surrounding mountains. Different sections of the Great Wall provide different experiences, from popular restored areas to quieter sections further away from central Beijing.

Back in the city, explore Tiananmen Square and the magnificent Forbidden City, where you can experience centuries of Chinese imperial history and architecture. The enormous courtyards, traditional gates, red walls and golden rooftops make this one of the most impressive cultural attractions in Beijing.

Another must-visit is the Temple of Heaven, a beautiful historical complex surrounded by peaceful gardens. It is especially enjoyable in the morning when local residents gather for exercise, dancing and traditional activities. 🌳

For a completely different experience, spend some time exploring Beijing's traditional hutongs. These narrow streets and old residential neighbourhoods provide a glimpse into everyday life and the city's traditional side, away from the modern skyscrapers.

🥢 Don't forget the food!

A trip to Beijing is also a food adventure. 🇨🇳❤️

Of course, the most famous dish is Peking Duck, known for its crispy skin, tender meat and traditional pancakes served with sauces and vegetables. But there is much more to Chinese cuisine than just Peking Duck.

Try traditional dumplings, Beijing-style noodles, Beijing hotpot, jianbing and a variety of local street snacks. During your trip, don't be afraid to visit smaller local restaurants and food streets — some of the most memorable meals can come from simple places filled with locals.

And because you're travelling with 23kg checked baggage, you can even bring back some packaged Chinese snacks, tea and souvenirs for family and friends. 🛍️

🌏 A trip combining modern & traditional China

What makes this journey interesting is the contrast between the two destinations.

Shenzhen represents the modern side of China — futuristic buildings, technology, huge shopping malls, modern transportation and a rapidly developing cityscape.

Beijing, meanwhile, brings you closer to China's history and culture, with ancient temples, imperial palaces, traditional neighbourhoods and the Great Wall.

So even though Shenzhen is only your transit point, the journey gives you a taste of two very different sides of China before you even finish your trip.

💰 Why this route is worth considering

At from RM480 one way, this is an attractive option for travellers looking for a lower-cost way to reach Beijing. ✈️

And unlike some ultra-low-cost fares where you have to pay separately for everything, this itinerary comes with:

💰 From RM480 one way
✈️ Shenzhen Airlines
🔄 Transit in Shenzhen
🧳 23kg checked baggage
🎒 5kg hand carry
🇲🇾 Departing from Kuala Lumpur
🇨🇳 Arriving in Beijing

Whether you're travelling to China for sightseeing, food, photography, shopping, history or simply to experience a completely different culture, Beijing has something for almost every type of traveller.

From standing on the Great Wall and walking through the Forbidden City to enjoying Peking Duck, wandering through traditional hutongs and experiencing a short transit in futuristic Shenzhen, this journey can turn a simple flight into a much bigger Chinese adventure. 🇨🇳✨

Kuala Lumpur → Shenzhen → Beijing — one affordable journey, two incredible Chinese cities, and countless experiences waiting to be discovered. ✈️🏯🥢❤️

Summer Palace | If the weather is nice, I would like to visit you again.

The Summer Palace is so big that it's a bit exaggerated. It's worthy of being "Cixi's strict selection"😂. The weather in Beijing is quite good these days, with plenty of sunshine. Although there is a little sun, the heat is not unbearable. Compared to the Forbidden City, which has less shade all the way, the Summer Palace is much more comfortable. There are many shade trees in the garden. You can always find a shady place to rest when you get tired of walking. The whole circle slowly walked down, actually did not sweat a little, the body feeling much more comfortable than imagined.

For travel, I recommend entering from the North Palace Gate. Take the subway to Kitomiyamon Station, exit the station and walk a few hundred meters to the entrance. I didn't buy a joint ticket this time, because the Summer Palace is so big that I might not be able to walk all the way in a day. Ordinary tickets are enough to stroll slowly. You can just swipe your ID card to enter.

Leaving the park you can exit from the newly built palace gate, which is located near the Seventeen Hole Bridge. It’s usually almost tired when you reach the 17-hole bridge, and it’s just right to leave the park directly after taking pictures. Turn left and walk about 200 meters to get a bus stop. You can then turn to the MTR station. The whole route is quite smooth.

As for the toilet, no worries at all. The number in the garden was more than I expected, I had seen three or four along the way, and the most surprising thing was that some of the toilets even had air conditioning! It really felt like "extending your life" when you walked in when it was hot, but I didn't dare to blow too long, after all the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor is big.

If it’s your first time, I don’t recommend rushing the trip just to check in. The most comfortable way to play in the Summer Palace is to take a slow walk along the lake on a nice day, and when you’re tired, sit down and take a breather. It's worth keeping this place for yourself for half a day, or even a whole day.
