The best Citywalk route in Cairo: strolling along Al-Muizz Street

So, is the Old City suitable for a solo female traveler to explore the culture? My answer is yes, if it's before dark, but it's best to find a travel buddy! If you're a woman, I still recommend visiting Khan el-Khalili during the day👉 🚶Citywalk route: Bab al-Futuh - Al-Muizz Street - Mosque of Al-Hakim - Qalawun Complex - Khan el-Khalili - Al-Azhar Mosque ✔Bab al-Futuh, also known as the Gate of Conquest, has a history of over 1,000 years. It is one of the three remaining gates of the Old City of Cairo. Located at the northern end of Al-Muizz Street, it leads to another gate, Bab Zuweila. ✔Al-Muizz Street: The entire street is filled with historical buildings and cultural heritage, with countless mosques, making it practically an open-air architectural museum. ✔Mosque of Al-Hakim: The fourth oldest mosque in Egypt, built in 990 AD. Located at the northern end of Al-Muizz Street, it once served as an academic center alongside Al-Azhar Mosque. ✔Qalawun Complex: Built in 1284, the Gothic-style architecture on the mausoleum side is stunning and makes you feel like you're in Europe at first glance. ✔Khan el-Khalili: Many people go for the "One Thousand and One Nights" photo spot under the archway. It's hard to find on the map (Z.ELASSIOUTI). It's fine to take photos of the scenery from a distance, but if you want to take portraits, you can ask the shop owner~ ✔Al-Azhar Mosque: One of the oldest mosques in Egypt with a strong academic atmosphere. After exiting the main gate of Khan el-Khalili, go through an underpass to get there. Pedestrians cannot cross the road directly. This was shot on my last day in Egypt 📷, and it was the happiest day of the trip. Narrow, winding alleys with light spilling onto the earthy-yellow historical buildings made every step feel like walking through a thousand years of history... I spent 3 days in Cairo and finished visiting the main attractions like the pyramids, museums, and the citadel. Most people choose to leave after that, but if you love culture and historical architecture, don't miss the Old City Citywalk!
