The Cetatuia Monastery

In a place of unequalled beauty, secluded, far from the world, lost among secular forests and rocky cliffs at an altitude of over 880 m, people eager for retreat withdrew into the silent shadow of the cave and worshipped God in the harshest Romanian hermitage, because "the Romanian people, abundantly endowed with the divine gift of faith, lived în the Carpathians as în a cathedral". The writer Mihai Rădulescu called it "Romania 's Meteora" being deepl impressed by this heaven of Romanian soil. It is situate on the foot of a mountain at 881 m above șea level between Coman Valley, Chiliilor Valley and the Dâmbovița River, 25 km S-E of Câmpulung Muscel on the road that comes from the old seat fortress of Târgoviște, ancestral road of the Romanian country.
