Chengde Tourism | The Sumi Fortune Longevity Temple is originally like this

The Sumi Fortune Longevity Temple is originally like this. On August 13th of the 45th year of Qianlong's reign (1780), it was the 70th birthday of Emperor Qianlong. Prior to this, Emperor Qianlong invited the 6th Panchen Lama to Beijing. The 6th Panchen Lama started his journey from Tashilhunpo Monastery in Shigatse, Tibet, in June of the 44th year of Qianlong's reign. Along the way, Emperor Qianlong specially dispatched the Crown Prince, along with Changkya Khutukhtu and other high-ranking officials, carrying the emperor's personal tribute of court beads and saddled horses to entertain and reward the 6th Panchen Lama. On July 12th of the 45th year of Qianlong's reign, the 6th Panchen Lama arrived at the Rehe Summer Resort to participate in Emperor Qianlong's birthday celebrations. Emperor Qianlong warmly received the 6th Panchen Lama in Rehe and built the Sumi Fortune Longevity Temple in Rehe (Chengde) for the 6th Panchen Lama to reside in and for his disciple Lobzang Trinley Choekyi Gyatso to spread the teachings. The Sumi Fortune Longevity Temple is located to the east of the Putuo Zongcheng Temple and can be reached on foot in less than 10 minutes. 'Sumi Fortune Longevity' means to be as long-lived and fortunate as Mount Sumeru and is also a unique architectural style that combines Han and Tibetan elements. The overall area is slightly smaller than that of the Putuo Zongcheng Temple. In December 1994, the 'Chengde Mountain Resort and its Outlying Temples', including the Sumi Fortune Longevity Temple, were inscribed as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
