The First Shrine of Western Sichuan - The Magnificent Zong Shrine Chen Family Mast

Chen Family Mast The Chen Family Courtyard is located in Baihua Community, Shou'an Town, Wenjiang District, Chengdu City. It was built by Chen Zongdian, a Hanlin Academy Shujishi (a title for scholars) during the Xianfeng reign of the Qing Dynasty, and his son Chen Dengjun, who was a military scholar. The construction started in the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty and was completed after 8 years. It is a comprehensive architectural complex that combines residence, ancestral shrine, garden, and academy. The entire building covers an area of 15 mu (about 1 hectare) with a construction area of 2736 square meters, featuring the architectural characteristics of the Qing Dynasty. In front of the gate stand twin stone masts, hence it is locally known as the 'Chen Family Mast'. In 2013, it was listed as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units under the name 'Shou'an Chen Family Courtyard'.
