Saint Sophia Cathedral｜One of the top ten churches in the world｜Beautiful Russian architecture in the Ice City

🏠Saint Sophia Cathedral was built in the 33rd year of Guangxu in the Qing Dynasty (1907) in March, shortly after the completion of the Middle East Railway. With the garrison of the Tsar's Russian army, a tall Sophia wooden church was built on Zhaolin Street in Harbin. It was originally a military church built by the 4th Infantry Division of Tsarist Siberia during the construction of the Middle East Railway. In the same year, Russian tea merchant I·F·Chisgakov funded the reconstruction of a wooden church based on the military church. In 1911, a brick wall was built outside the wooden wall, forming a brick-wood structure church. 🏠The church building is arranged in the form of a Greek cross, influenced by Byzantine architectural style, and the main dome and bell tower have traditional Russian 'tent top' and 'onion head' shapes. Located in Sophia Square, Daoli District, Harbin City, Heilongjiang Province, it is a Byzantine-style Orthodox church built in 1907 and is a landmark building in Harbin. In 1986, the Harbin Municipal People's Government listed it as a first-class protected building; in 1996, it was approved by the State Council and listed as the fourth batch of national key cultural relics protection units. The interior of the Saint Sophia Cathedral is now used as the 'Harbin Architectural Art Museum' 1️⃣Closed on Mondays, visiting hours in the morning are 9:00-1130, afternoon concerts at 13:00/15:30/18:30, each lasting about 30 minutes 2️⃣Tickets are 20 yuan.
