Sibazakura is a type of phlox, translated from Japanese as cherry lawn, which in full bloom has more than a dozen shades of pink, which are no less magnificent than cherry blossoms. More than 8000000 plants on an area of 24,000 km.m present a breathtaking view against the background of the symbol of Japan, Mount Fuji, around a small pond where, according to legend, a dragon lives. Lake Kawaguchi offers spectacular panoramic views of Mount Fuji, and the cherry trees on the north shore make this one of the main places in the area to admire the cherry blossoms in April. It's worth going there early in the morning, then you will have the best chance to get a clear view of Fujiyama. The best place is in the area of bus stop No. 17, Retro Bus. During the Fuji Shiba Sakura Festival, a delicious food festival is held in the restaurant-shop area of the park, where delicious treats from different places around the mountain will be presented on the shelves. Here you can taste such delicacies as soba Fujinomiya, udon Fuji-Yoshida, soup from a rare breed of pork from the Yamanashi Fujizakura region and other dishes of this region. For guests in the walking areas there are hot spring baths for feet and what could be better than to dip your feet in warm thermal waters and admire the blooming shibazakura with Mount Fuji. The festival runs from April 13, 2019 to Sunday May 26, 2019 from 8:00 to 17:00. Tens of thousands of people come to see the cherry blossom every year, and they can easily be understood: the white and pink trees are especially beautiful against the background of the snow-capped peak of Mount Fuji. Visitors are advised to use public transport so as not to waste time searching for parking. The bus from JR Gotemba Train station takes 30 minutes, from JR Suruga-Oyama — 20 minutes.
