Genhe Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Aolu Guya Shi Lu Buluo Sceneic Area Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
China's last reindeer tribe, highly recommended for parent-child self-driving tours!!
Everyone always thought that reindeer could only be found in Scandinavia, but actually, in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia, there is China's last reindeer tribe—the Aoluguya Ewenki Reindeer Tribe. For friends who like self-driving tours, especially those with children on parent-child tours, I strongly recommend that you must bring your kids here. Here, children can have close contact with reindeer🫎, which is a unique experience!!
📍Location: Inner Mongolia - Hulunbuir - Genhe - Aoluguya Ewenki Ethnic Township
🚗For navigation, search for 'Aoluguya Reindeer Tribe', and along the way, you will see the beautiful grasslands and vast fields of rapeseed flowers. If you're lucky, you might even see a fairy-tale-like rainbow🌈 after the rain.
👉Since ancient times, the Ewenki people of our country have relied on hunting and raising reindeer for a living, known as the 'Reindeer Tribe' and 'China's Last Hunting Tribe'. Now, the Ewenki hunters in Inner Mongolia are the only ethnic group in China that raises reindeer, and currently, the reindeer that the Ewenki people have depended on for generations have dwindled to just over 600!
👉Both male and female reindeer have antlers, and they are gentle in nature and love to eat moss (it must be clean moss, as reindeer are very picky). Children can safely have close interactions with the reindeer.
Below is my personal self-driving tour guide, which friends who want to go can refer to~
1⃣️We drove directly from Arxan to Hailar City, and then headed straight for the Aoluguya Reindeer Tribe, (because we brought children, so we made a special trip to see the reindeer). Plan to return via Ergun, Manzhouli. Specific self-driving friends can decide based on their situation. Because Hulunbuir is vast, it's not possible to visit everywhere, just pick a few places. Friends who take the Hulunbuir line or Mohe line for self-driving tours can also visit along the way.
2⃣️🚗Navigate to 'Aoluguya Reindeer Tribe', (actually there are other reindeer tribes in Inner Mongolia, but this is the place with the most reindeer, the best interaction, and the most primitive scenery)
3⃣️Ticket price💰70
4⃣️Sightseeing car💰15, but I personally do not recommend buying it, it's especially nice to walk around the entire scenic area on foot, you can visit residences, museums, etc., and also enjoy the beautiful scenery. Besides reindeer, the scenery here is also very beautiful!!
5⃣️After buying the ticket, enter the park and there is a small museum that you can visit, it's not big but has a lot of ethnic charm. Then walk🚶about 800 meters to reach the reindeer garden, along the way you will see rabbits🐰 and squirrels🐿️ (all wild), you can bring some vegetable leaves and pine nuts for the children to feed the small animals.
6⃣️There are about 20 reindeer🦌 in the park that you can interact with closely, you must spend 20 yuan to buy a big basket of moss, and the reindeer will follow you for it, but they are super gentle, there's no need to be afraid, it's very suitable for bringing children to play. (Special reminder, some bloggers say that you don't need to buy moss, there's a lot of it on the ground. Wrong!!! Reindeer are very picky about their food, they won't eat moss picked up from the ground!)
7⃣️There are also original Ewenki residences in the park, which are very suitable for taking photos, super photogenic. There are also seesaws that children like, made of long wood in the original style. There are also log bridges and other experiences for children...
8⃣️The park will burn firewood, which will smoke away mosquitoes, but there are still some inevitably (within an acceptable range), it is recommended to wear long skirts or trousers, and a long-sleeved sun protection shirt. Remember to bring rain gear, as the rain on the grasslands in July and August comes suddenly.
9⃣️It is suggested to wear light-colored or colorful clothes, the photos📷 will look better.
Finally, I recommend that everyone must buy some of the handmade bread in the park, it's delicious! You can also watch the whole process of making the bread up close!!
⭕️Friends who want to go can ask me any questions, there is limited space, so I can only introduce so much!

Greater Khingan Range Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
From Moer Dao to Linjiang, you need to take a section of the forest. There are very few people in this section, and there is no car on the way. You pass by an uninhabited town, except for one or two people in the government department. See people.
When the whole village came along, the signs were restaurants, accommodation, but no one opened the door during the winter. The winter is so beautiful, the summer should be super beautiful.
Whether to take this road in winter, please drive a highly skilled master and be sure to choose a model with a high ground.
The snow has photos so thick, and I often see all kinds of footprints in the whole process. There are big and small ones. Every time I get off the camera, I have some concerns. There is no signal on this road. If the car is really stuck. I can't imagine anything else in the snow. Although we are worried about this road, it is good that the scenery is not bad.
The more you go, the closer the trees are to the winter. The snow fell on the leaves, as if a Christmas tree, the long road curved forward, can not see the end, looking forward to encounter surprises in the corner.
Beiou.
Bu Dong Xia of Hulunbeier, there are no high-rise buildings, no crowds, no network. There are only Ewenki hunters who live on reindeer. They lived with the reindeer, where the reindeer went, and they placed their home.
Ewenki people are simple and kind, the reindeer's double eyes are clear and translucent, let the Daxinganling this piece of Linhai Xueyuan, like a fairy tale. Christmas is here to play with the reindeer, wearing a red dress can be cos santa claus ~
Miss Cat.
I have finally seen the Greater Khingan Range that I read about in elementary school textbooks!
📍 The Greater Khingan Range, located in Heilongjiang Province and the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region in the northeast of our country, is the largest nature reserve in northern China and also the largest forest park in China
🌳 If you love nature and want to immerse yourself in a natural oxygen bar, the Greater Khingan Range will definitely not disappoint you
❤️ Greater Khingan Range Tourism Season
The Greater Khingan Range has different scenery in each of the four seasons
Summer and autumn are the best times to visit, with comfortable climate and weather. The summer is lush with greenery, and the autumn is full of colorful forests
❤️ Hiking in the Greater Khingan Range
Follow the forest trails, measuring this ancient forest rich in natural resources. Venture deep into the woods to explore the only Ewenki reindeer tribe in China
❤️ Encounter the reindeer spirits in the homeland of the last forest hunting nation. Pick moss to feed the reindeer, listen to the stories of the people and the deer (The round-trip hiking time is about 15h, and the total activity duration is about 3-4h)
For hiking, wear slip-resistant and lightweight sports shoes, dress appropriately, and take precautions against mosquitoes. Do not pick or damage the vegetation to protect the ecological environment
❤️ Greater Khingan Range Food Recommendations
In addition to the natural beauty, the local wild mushrooms, matsutake, boletus
Various types of wild meat, game barbecue, hot pot, and more are also worth trying

Aoluguya | The lingering twilight of the tribe in the deer's gentle calls
| The lingering twilight of the tribe in the deer's gentle calls.
The Greater Khingan Range is synonymous with the secret realms of the north. People have marveled at its magnificent autumn scenery, or have been fascinated by the customs of the 'three lesser-known ethnic groups'.
The Ewenki tribe of Aoluguya and their reindeer have left the deep forests to settle down; the railway connecting towns like Mangui, Yituli River, and Ke'er River has brought the dawn of industry to this primitive land.
The cold climate of China's 'Cold Pole' offers a generous reprieve in the summer, with cool temperatures and moderate UV rays making the Greater Khingan Range an ideal choice for summer retreats. The towns here are just tiny islands of human activity; a few steps out of town and you are instantly surrounded by the sea of forests and the sound of pines.
Genhe, formerly known as Ergun Left Banner, prospered because of its forestry industry, once giving rise to many billionaires. However, with the logging ban in the Greater Khingan Range, Genhe has become a quiet little city in the northern border. It is China's 'Cold Pole', where the historical lowest temperature was recorded; yet the relatively moderate cost of living and the vast expanse of forests make the 'Cold Pole' seem not so harsh.
Aoluguya Ewenki Ethnic Township is the highlight of Genhe's tourism. The Ewenki people, who once lived in the mountains and forests, have ended their fishing and hunting lifestyle. Most have brought their reindeer here to settle down, and now they raise reindeer and sell reindeer milk bread here. The white shireng poles are also visible everywhere in the forest, but no one chooses to live here anymore, becoming a landscape in forest tourism. Those ancient traditions and mysterious shamanic rituals have gradually lost their enchantment amidst the new trends of forest development and tourism.
Heading north from the entrance of the scenic area, you will find newly built log cabins and a museum, but there are not many attractions. Many tourists walk in the wrong direction because of the spacious and bright roads, unable to find the deer garden. The deer garden is at the end of the road to the west of the ticket office. Entering the forest, you will find a wooden walkway, with animals such as roe deer, squirrels, and hares on both sides. Next to the reindeer garden, there is a small tent selling moss, and for ten yuan, you can attract the forest spirits to come into close contact with people. Those who are lighter can also choose to spend a hundred yuan to experience riding a reindeer.
Taking a taxi from Genhe city to Aoluguya Township costs twenty yuan, and the round trip is about forty yuan; it is necessary to keep the driver's phone number. It is not convenient to go from Genhe railway station to Jagdaqi; one needs to go to Yituli River Town to take the train, and a taxi costs about forty yuan. Genhe Wetland is another highlight of Genhe, and a chartered car tour costs two hundred yuan.
The vast exploration of the Greater Khingan Range can only be described as skimming the surface; the deeper and more mysterious world of the forest remains as incomprehensible as the whispers of shamans. After the fifty-year logging ban in the forest area began, the once bustling logging towns have returned to silence. But the world of the Ewenki people and their reindeer has long been reduced to the surprise and camera shutters of tourists - the descendants of Hailancha have left their animistic homeland amid the sound of logging, and only Chi Zijian's 'The Right Bank of the Argun River' still reminds the world of them. Over the past hundred years, the Greater Khingan Range has descended from the clouds of shamanic wizards to become the backdrop for the daily meals of loggers.

Dreams above the permafrost: The winter dusk of Genhe source
Genhe meanders from the Greater Khingan Range from northeast to west, almost traversing the northern part of Hulunbuir, and finally flows into the Erguna River. The source of Genhe is located at the western foot of the northern end of the Greater Khingan Range, and the place where the source of Genhe is located is therefore named "Genhe City". Genhe has spring and autumn connected, and the winter lasts for 210 days, with an extreme low temperature of minus 58℃ measured, so it is named "China's Cold Pole". Genhe Source National Wetland Park is the most intact original wetland park in China, most of which is located in the Greater Khingan Range forest area, with many undeveloped original forests and wetland areas, and extremely rich ecological resources, enjoying the reputation of "China's Cold Pole Wetland Natural Museum", "Mount Everest of China's Environmental Education", "Tears of God" and other reputations.
Nearly 60,000 hectares of Genhe wetland exist above the permafrost, which is a rare geological phenomenon in China. The entire winter source of Genhe is covered with snow, silver-wrapped, and Genhe seems to be a holy Hada floating among the white pines and birches covered with snow. The small forest huts in the mountains are like a fairy tale world bathed in winter snow. Especially the dusk of Genhe, the setting sun renders the vast snowfield with gorgeous colors, and the foraging foxes and snowy owls are like coming through from the magical world, dreamlike, extremely beautiful, in the winter of Genhe, you have all your imaginations about the secret realm of the snow country.
PHOENIX FIGUEROA
Genhe Yuan National Wetland Park
Genhe is known as the 'Cold Pole of China', and its autumn is an incredibly beautiful cold pole autumn scene.
After a rain, the negative oxygen ions in the park are very high, take a deep breath. The leaves of the birch trees here have not fallen, the golden leaves and the white trunks, it is another perfect match for autumn colors, a kind of bright and clean beauty. The evening scenery is even more dazzling under the short and intense sunlight, and the sunset in the west is also extraordinarily beautiful. Unexpectedly, there was a hailstorm in the middle, the sound of dripping, and it melted in a while. Showers and hail are really not concepts that will appear in the Northeast.
Today really has everything: rain, rainbow, sunshine, hail.
Perfect!

The Root River Wetland, known as the Asia's No. 1 Wetland, is located at the intersection of the Genhe River, the Erguna River, the Dirbu River and the Haul River. It is the most protected and largest wetland in China today.
The alluvial plain of the river constitutes a delta. The dry rivers and tributaries are like jade belts with flat grasslands, like a bright pearl embedded in the land of Ergun. The waters of the Root River pass through the mountains and pass through the wilderness, leaving the most graceful section to Ergun, where there are dense birch forests and larch on both sides of the river, waiting for the lights in the city next to them. Ergun is a city, a river, a history, an old story. The original Mongol empire was born here, so this rich and beautiful land became the soul of the Mongolians and their souls. It is not just Mongolia, it has portrayed many symbols of the birth of the nation. Some people have disappeared in the depths of the years, while others have passed down to the present day. It used to be the starting point for ancient humans to walk out of the forest to embrace the world. Now we come here from the ferocious steel forest, come to this grassland, come to this quiet forest, follow the memory of the deep veins, come Go to this world and accept the most original baptism and return to nature.

🏞 Accommodation Guide
⭕️ Hailar Accommodation
If you are traveling independently, it is recommended to stay near the Hailar train station. This makes travel convenient, as it is easy and inexpensive to take a taxi within the city.
⭕️ Manzhouli Accommodation
Hotels in the Manzhouli city area are a bit old. The Matryoshka Hotel is not really recommended during the peak tourist season, as it's too expensive and not cost-effective. It is suggested to choose a Russian-style hotel for a good experience at a reasonable price.
⭕️ Heishantou Accommodation
Heishantou is mainly Mongolian yurts. When booking, make sure to compare prices, as they can vary greatly. Definitely book in advance during the peak season.
⭕️ Shiwei Accommodation
Shiwei accommodations are typically wooden houses, with generally basic conditions but quite characteristic.
✈️ Transportation Guide
① Hailar Dongshan Airport: 13 kilometers from the city center, a 10-minute airport shuttle ride will get you to the city, and it departs as soon as it's full, which is very convenient.
② Manzhouli West Suburb Airport: Manzhouli Airport does not have an airport shuttle, and taxis generally do not use meters. The one-way fare between the airport and the city center ranges from 30 to 50 yuan.
③ Hailar Railway Station: You can choose to first take a train or plane to Harbin or Beijing, and then from Beijing or Harbin take a train to Hailar.

💡Helpful Tips: Hulunbuir covers a vast area, and the attractions are far apart, so it's recommended to choose a reliable local driver or charter a car⛳ Here's a reminder: when choosing to join a carpool or charter a service, be sure to carefully review the itinerary, choose a pure fun, zero-shopping option, don't be tempted by cheap offers, or you'll be disappointed if you end up in a bunch of consumption traps❌

Hulunbuir Heishantou Play and Stay Guide
Coming to the Hulunbuir Prairie, you must experience horse riding once. Unlike the restraint of urban horse farms, riding horses on the vast prairie can feel more freedom and unrestraint.
Heishantou is one of the most suitable places for horse riding in Hulunbuir.
☑️Grass planting reasons:
🔹Professional safety
The horses of Heishantou Horse Farm have been professionally trained, they are relatively gentle and suitable for beginners. The protection measures are in place, and there are professional horsemen to accompany, who will adjust the speed according to your requirements and abilities, very safe.
🔹Beautiful scenery
Rent a horse and go uphill, looking at the wetland forest not far away along the way, golden mixed with red, green, deep and shallow, bright or dark, as if the palette was overturned, randomly splashing out a colorful oil painting. When the weather is good, it's really amazing to watch the sunset from a high place.
❕Safety tips:
Be sure to choose a regular horse farm, wear a helmet, wear a horse vest, children and people who can't ride a horse must be accompanied or led by professionals.
🏨Accommodation recommendation: Heishantou Liev Wetland Manor Hotel
🔸The hotel has a large wetland of its own, and the air is incredibly fresh. Each room has its own balcony, overlooking this beautiful scenery that is not inferior to the scenic spot. There are also small wooden house rooms built directly in the wetland forest, closely surrounded by nature.
🔸Guests can directly enter the wetland from the back door of the hotel, and it takes about 1 hour to walk around the plank road. The restaurant is also in the wetland, and the viewing platform not far from the restaurant can overlook the entire wetland from a high place.
🔸In addition to the beautiful scenery, you can also encounter semi-free-range small animals while strolling in the manor, rabbits, peacocks, the most interesting are the alpacas leading the way - their hair is trimmed like a lady, with their necks raised, the corners of their mouths are like elegant smiles, they are not afraid of people getting close, they are like the posture of the manor owner.

Sunrise at Heishantou
Get up at five in the morning and set off from the hotel towards Hailar. Because we were always choosing better places along the way, we kept driving forward, about 8 kilometers away from the hotel, on the left, a relatively open place, with water, with woods, very beautiful.
