Po Lin Monastery and the Tian Tan Buddha

Taking the Ngong Ping 360 cable car up the mountain, passing through the Ngong Ping Market, you will arrive at Ngong Ping Piazza. The cattle roaming leisurely on the plaza are very gentle and live harmoniously with people. To the right front is the majestic Tian Tan Buddha, one of the iconic structures of Hong Kong. The Buddha statue sits atop 268 stone steps, perched on the Muk Yue Peak of Lantau Island. Pilgrims from all over gather at the stone steps beneath the Tian Tan Buddha. Climbing the 268 steps, we embark on a journey to cleanse our souls, pray sincerely, and the close-up view of the world's largest outdoor seated Buddha is also a visual treat. Po Lin Monastery is located opposite the Tian Tan Buddha, with a grand presence that naturally evokes a sense of solemnity and reverence as one approaches this sacred place.
