Head to Huize ancient town for a night tour. The road leading into the town is under construction and full of potholes, making the trip slow. Once inside the main street of the ancient town, you’ll see mostly common shops—snack stalls, clothing stores, small electronics shops, and guesthouses lined up side by side. It’s hard to find any businesses that reflect the town’s copper merchant history. The buildings along the street are mostly renovated replicas of traditional architecture, with little original style left and a weak historical atmosphere. The town’s highlights are actually scattered across various guild halls, while the main commercial street is only moderately interesting. If you’re just visiting the night market, the experience is underwhelming. Unless you plan to visit historic buildings like the Jiangxi guild hall, there’s no need to make a special detour here.
