A Beautiful Mansion in Hongcun

While travelling through Anhui, and spending a few nights in Hongcun Village, I decided to splurge out a little bit with a room in Zhang Mansion...and it was well worth it! From beginning to end, the service I experienced was impeccable. I was picked up from the Hongcun Village ticket office, served tea and snacks during check-in, and the hotel itself was simply beautiful - lots of intricate woodwork, antiques, and a cozy little garden. However, do remember that some of these older building lack sound proofed rooms...! If you’re staying as a couple, I would highly recommend staying in their Moonlight Suite with terrace. It was super spacious, the bed was very comfortable, there was a little dining / tea area, and the balcony area was lovely to sit out on. If you want to eat in the hotel, rather than in the village itself, prices are decent and portions are generous too. The meal I had was more than enough, and tasted great too! They have plenty of local dishes and more to suit all palates. Breakfast was probably my favourite yet, a huge bowl of congee that you can continuously top up from + a selection of ingredients to use as toppings - pickled bamboo shoot, green beans, tofu. This was alongside a plate filled to the brim with baozi, mantou, youtiao, sweet potato and a boiled egg. The location of the hotel was pretty convenient too for those looking to stay within Hongcun Village itself.
