Lugu Lake

Lugu Lake is located in Lugu Lake Town, Yanyuan County, Sichuan Province, on the border of Sichuan and Yunnan, 258 kilometers away from Xichang City. It is like a huge, flawless pearl embedded in the southwest of the motherland. Its picturesque scenery, the ancient matriarchal clan customs that have survived through the ages, the 'Noah's Ark' of Christianity, and the evening drums and morning bells of Lamaism are so eye-catching. They draw the attention of numerous tourists to this mysterious land of Lugu Lake, which the locals call 'Xie Na Mi,' meaning the sea or mother lake. Viewed from above, it resembles a soaring swallow and is also the largest natural freshwater lake in Sichuan, known as the 'Pearl of the Plateau.' To the northwest of the lake stands the majestic Gemu Mountain, which is personified and worshipped by the Mosuo people as the Goddess Gemu.
