This campus is beautiful and has no walls The former site of St. John's University Shanghai is located at 1575 Wanhangdu Road, Changning District, and is now the Changning Campus of East China University of Political Science and Law. St. John's University was established in 1879 by merging Peiyang and Guang'en Colleges, and was renamed St. John's University in 1906. Its main buildings constructed over the years include the Chapel, Huai Shi Hall, Luo Library, and Siyuan Hall, most of which feature a blend of Chinese and Western architectural styles. In 1952, during the nationwide adjustment of higher education institutions, St. John's University was abolished and merged, and East China University of Political Science and Law was established on the former site by combining several universities. In 1994, the site was designated as an Outstanding Historical Building of Shanghai, and in 2019, it became a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
