Yaowan Flower Sea

The ten-mile Yaowan Flower Sea is located in Kaoshui Village, which is under the jurisdiction of Ziyang Town, Wuyuan County. Kaoshui (also known as Kaochuan) is the birthplace of the 'Mingjing Hu Clan' in China. The Hu family of Xidi, a World Cultural Heritage site, originated from Kaoshui before relocating. Yaowan is nestled in a mountain hollow two miles away from Kaoshui Village, surrounded by mountains with a perennial stream flowing through. Here, there are wineries, handicraft workshops, tea-making, snacks, and private schools... These elements together reconstruct the way of life and the traces of reproduction of the ancestors of the Mingjing scholars! More than 20 successful candidates in the highest imperial examinations came from here, and it was inscribed by Zhu Xi as a 'home of poetry and propriety'. The area includes the residence of successful candidates, Wenchang Pavilion, Junma Tower, and a series of official residences, ancestral halls, ancient courtyards, Qin Room Academy, and dance pavilions... In Yaowan, one can not only recall history through the iconic ancient relics of the Chinese Mingjing Hu Clan, such as the tomb of the Tang Crown Prince, but also personally experience agricultural harvesting, explore ancient post roads, and appreciate the culture of ancient villages and garden water features.
