Hence the saying, 'The characters of Xianyang, An Guo Temple

' An Guo Temple is located behind the Phoenix Platform on the old street. It was established during the Sui Dynasty, flourished in the Tang Dynasty, and was rebuilt during the Ming Dynasty in the Wanli era (1573). Yifeng Street still has a folk saying to this day: An Guo Temple existed before Xianyang County. This indicates that An Guo Temple was already in existence before the county seat moved to Wei River Post (now Xianyang urban area) during the Ming Dynasty. Therefore, it can be said that An Guo Temple was the earliest Buddhist temple to appear in the Xianyang urban area. An Guo Temple was also the earliest secret underground workstation of the Chinese Communist Party, transmitting a lot of information and intelligence to Yan'an, directly conveying the messages of the Party Central Committee. It also served as a transfer station for supplying food and ammunition to the People's Liberation Army, as well as a rescue site for the wounded and sick of the Red regime. After the liberation, it became the administrative office of Xianyang.
