The fairy-tale town hidden deep in the mountains of Japan - Shirakawa-go
Oh, finally came to the fairy-tale world in reality: Shirakawa-go
❄️The first time I knew about Japan's gassho-zukuri architecture was on a Christmas day in a certain year, when I accidentally brushed a photo of Shirakawa-go lighting up.
"Does such a beautiful place really exist in the world?"
"But, such a dreamy village should be inconvenient for transportation..." "I haven't got a Japanese driver's license yet, cry."
I thought so at the time, and then the travel plan for Shirakawa-go was shelved for many years.
This time I happened to live in Nagoya, and suddenly felt close to Shirakawa-go. I checked the transportation and found that departing from Nagoya, taking the express bus (Meitetsu Bus, etc.), it takes about 2 hours and 30 minutes to get there! It turns out to be like this! That's not far away!
Set off immediately!
The first time I stepped into Shirakawa-go, I found that the village was much larger than I imagined, and I had to walk over a large suspension bridge at the entrance.
The roads in the village are very spacious, with many ancient buildings, small shops and local cuisine.
The check-in points where everyone often takes photos on the Internet: the observatory on the top of the mountain where you can take a panoramic view, you actually need to take a car to get up.
The scenery is very healing, just a little snow to embellish it! Um~ Living in such a World Heritage village must be dreamy!
It's like a paradise, everyone must come and see if you have the chance!
In addition, if you are traveling from China, it is also recommended to enter from Chubu International Airport. If you live in Nagoya, the cost performance of hotels and other places is very high, and it is convenient to go to Kyoto and other surrounding areas!
Hehe, see you on our next trip! Shirakawa-go

Shirakawa Historic Village is a Japanese mountain settlement in once considered a wild and unexplored region. Because of the area's natural environment, with high mountains and heavy snowfall with neighboring regions are limited.
The Gassho-style house is a symbol of the World Heritage Site of Shirakawa-go village. The architecture is unique and is called Gassho-zukuri and is extremely rare in Japan. The best time to go is in May, August, September and October. The views are breathtaking, serene and charming. It is definitely worth the visit there.
The address is 501-5692 Hatogaya-517 Shirakawa Village District Gifu Prefecture.
I wish to go Hokkaido!

Picture Perfect Trip to Shirakawago
Hey everyone! I had the most amazing trip to Shirakawago with my sister, and I can't wait to share all about it! We had been dreaming of visiting this charming village since 2020, but the pandemic threw a wrench in our plans. However, this year, we finally made it happen and crossed it off our bucket list!
To get the best view of the village, we hopped on a paid shuttle bus that took us to the top of a hill. And let me tell you, the view was absolutely breathtaking! There was a deck with a designated photo point, so we made sure to capture all the beauty.
After taking in the scenery, we were famished and decided to grab a bite at one of the local restaurants. We found this cozy little place that served homey food, and boy, were we in for a treat! The food was delicious, and the prices were surprisingly reasonable.
All in all, our trip to Shirakawago was worth the wait. It's a place that truly lives up to its reputation, and I'm so glad I got to experience it with my sister. Now, onto planning our next adventure!

TAKAYAMA - Essence Of Traditional Japan
Takayama, a charming city located in the heart of central Japan, is a captivating destination that offers a unique blend of traditional culture, stunning natural beauty, and warm hospitality. With a history dating back over 1300 years, Takayama is a place where ancient traditions seamlessly intertwine with modern life.
One of the main attractions in Takayama is its beautifully preserved old town. Wander through the streets of Sanmachi Suji, lined with well-preserved Edo-period merchant houses, sake breweries, and traditional shops. The historic wooden architecture and narrow lanes create an enchanting atmosphere that transports visitors back in time.
Nature enthusiasts will be delighted by the breathtaking scenery surrounding Takayama. Kamikochi, a pristine highland valley located nearby, is a paradise for hikers and nature lovers. Hida Takayama refers to another historical area in Gifu. Hida Takayama is located in the Takayama City situated in the northern part of the prefecture, and is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Gifu. Many foreign tourists love the authentic atmosphere of the picturesque castle town. There are some old streets where well-preserved Japanese traditional sake breweries and houses, dating back from the Edo period through the Meiji period, can be visited. Most of the buildings are currently used as gift shops, restaurants, cafes, and other facilities offering several kinds of experiences for tourists. It is also a perfect place to enjoy local specialties such as Hida beef.
There is a walking trail of about 3km in length, called the Higashiyama Walking Course through Takayama’s fascinating townscape and along the former Takayama Castle. Hida Takayama developed as a lively town around the castle, though in the present day you can only see the remains of the castle in Shiroyama Park.
Encountering Snowfall During a March Trip to Japan! The Snowy Hida Takayama Old Town.
One of the goals of this trip was to visit the World Heritage Site Shirakawa-go. Although driving in the snow was a bit troublesome and colder than expected, the scenery blanketed in white snow was well worth it!
The old town of Takayama is less than an hour's drive from Shirakawa-go, and it's definitely worth adding this spot to your itinerary. Strolling through the century-old shops on the old street is a delightful experience. There are many handicraft shops, restaurants, cafes, etc., all great places to enjoy the snow. At the end of the old street, there's a red bridge that looks even more beautiful under the snowscape. Don't miss out if you like to take photos!
Takayama
It is an old traditional Japanese market close to Shirakawago, the old village. I love the old buildings dominated by the woods. There is also a red bridge with a river just like the one in Nikko, Tochigi. Worth it to stop by when you travel to Shirakawago!
It is indeed a great place where you can find stores offering hand gifts from Japan specialities, including the foods and souvenirs! I also found Moslem friendly snacks over there!
As Shirakawago, you will be most likely enjoying the snow fall. All in all, you can enjoy both traditional market and snow!

Stepping back in time in Shirakawago
Visiting Wada House in Shirakawago is like stepping back in time! It's this gassho-zukuri farmhouse that was turned into a museum about the rural life in that village. If you love Japanese culture and history, you’ve got to visit Shirakawago.
I gotta tell you, the village looks straight outta a fairytale. The roof is covered in thatched straw and the wooden beams are sturdy. Inside, you'll find all these cool old artifacts and antique furniture from the Wada family. It's like they froze time!
But wait, it gets better. The surroundings are so stunning! Imagine going there in winter when everything's covered in fluffy white snow. It's like a dreamland. I visited in May, so it was all green, but the village still looked beautiful nevertheless.
If you're into history or just wanna escape the city chaos, you gotta check out the Shirakawago Wada House. It's a chill spot to soak up some Japanese rural vibes and appreciate the pure beauty of this UNESCO World Heritage gem.

Shirakawago | The most beautiful country in Japan
Japan has a place, known as the most beautiful country in Japan, especially in the winter like the world in the fairy tale, is Shirakawago.
-
Chuan Xiang is located in the foothills of Baishan Mountain in Jixian County in central Japan. It is a quiet mountain village surrounded by mountains, paddy fields and rivers. In December 1995, the 19th World Heritage Committee of UNESCO held the decision of the 19th World Heritage Committee of the United Nations. The Japanese "Hachikawa Township and the Heshang Village of Wuyi Mountain" were selected as World Heritage Sites. This was followed by Himeji Castle and Shirakami Mountain in Japan. The sixth place to be selected as a World Heritage Site also represents international recognition that Japan has long been committed to protecting natural humanities and protecting the world's remains with Japan.
-
Shirakawa Township is not large. It is a small bridge to the town. Every house is very cute. It is very Japanese when you take it. You can climb to the mountain for ten minutes and you can take a picture. To the whole small village! One of the few cards in the winter
Japan is indeed a country worth visiting all the year round. In addition to those familiar spots, today we want to share with you a fairy-tale town, Shirakawago.
We are Shirakawago who went to the winter last year. In fact, there are not many strategies for the mature online in Baichuan Township. I will give a detailed introduction to our itinerary and how to play the Shirakawa Township Festival.
:
Shirakawago is located in Gifu Prefecture in central Japan, and the Gifumachi area in Shirakawago is famous for its masterpieces and is listed as a World Heritage Site. The combination of palms is the house we see like a fairy tale. Every room will continue to light up every year during the Lantern Festival. When the night falls, the entire village is covered by snow and the place where the elves live.
Lighting Festival:
Time varies from year to year, 2019 is: January 14th, January 20th, January 27th, February 03th, February 11th and February 17th 6 days
Traffic:
1, Nagoya / Kanazawa departure by car
2, Nagoya take JR to the mountain, then take the bus from the mountain or go to Shirakawago
accommodation:
Because the number of days of lighting festival is small, and the reception capacity of Shirakawa Township is limited, it is generally necessary to book accommodation for more than half a year in advance, so many people choose to live in the mountains and then travel to and from Shirakawa Township on the same day.
Our schedule:
DAY1: Nagoya - Takayama
DAY2: Takayama - Shirakawago
DAY3: Takayama - Hirayu Onsen
DAY4: Hirayu Onsen - Kanazawa
DAY5: Kanazawa - Nagoya
At the Shirakawa Township, which arrived at 4 pm, the parking lot 1 was full. We stopped in the parking lot 2 and walked directly into the village. 3, 4 years ago, when I was lighting in the winter, I came to Baichuan Township with my friends. At that time, although there were many people, the Observatory could still take a tripod to capture the beautiful scenery. In recent years, with the full flow of people, Do not allow the stand to be taken, and the dwell time should not be too long. We went a little late, so we didn't go to the observatory again, and we hit the red scarecrow house along the way.
Transportation: Takaoka Station No. 7 station takes the World Heritage bus, get off at Shirakawago Station (about 2 hours and 10 minutes)
Parking: Free parking
Visit time: 2 - 3 hours
back when the sky is dark, this bustling village during the day has finally restored the tranquility he should have.

Kamisan No Machi Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Apr)
Mountain is actually a small town that retains the traditional Japanese aesthetics, and there is no trace of rusticity. The bustling morning market, the shrine on the mountainside and the leisurely residents are completely different from the big cities that have been visited before.
The northern part of Takayama is Okuhida Hot Springs, which consists of five hot springs. Among them, Xinsuigao Hot Spring is the most remote and highest-lying hot spring, surrounded by mountains of more than 3,000 meters above sea level in the Northern Alps. Be sure to experience a mountain hot spring here!
Walking in the mountains filled with the old Japanese style, it is like going back to the scene of watching the anime "Your Name", which makes people feel the quaint and warmth of the Edo River period. The sloping tile house and the wooden lattice window are all in the color of the wood. The snow scene in the mountains is also beautiful and intoxicating.
When I saw this Nakata Wufu store in the main street of Japan, I knew that it was an old name. The Japanese always called the kimono a Wu suit.
The owner of the kimono shop stayed in Beijing more than ten years ago, so I know how to lose Chinese, but I also forgot seven or eighty-eight. I chatted with her while dressing up and said that I will be the next day. Going to Baichuan Township, the proprietress said that now Baichuan Township is so beautiful, there are many that one. . Meter. I looked confused, what is good about rice, and later I went to Baichuan Township to know that the proprietress said the golden wheat.
I like the feeling of being dressed up, just like when my mother gave me hair, clothes, and a sense of travel, probably wearing local clothes and eating local roadside stalls.
I came to Japan this time and chose to go for an afternoon in the alpine streets of the small missile area. This is a complete form of the castle town and the business town since the Edo period, so it is called the "Little Kyoto".
But compared to Kyoto, there are a lot less tourists here, especially for lounging. In the depths of the block, even shops are rare, and the picture of life is extremely strong. When you are tired, you must eat a corn squid and it is delicious.
The bus can only be used by bus and can be reached without a tram. Free tour of the ancient street, there are many special buildings to see.
Old Street is an ancient street that flows through the east bank of Miyagawa in Takayama. The Edo period residence on the Machimachi in the middle of the old street is still intact. We started from Uemachi and strolled in the feelings of the Edo period. This old street still clearly outlines the shadow of the castle city "mountain". A visit to this place, you can see the traditional wine house and the old houses with door and window partitions as lattices. This area has been designated by the Japanese government as an important traditional architectural complex. There are a lot of interesting souvenir shops here, which are suitable for walking slowly. There is also a well-known shop selling yoghurt soup, the soy sauce inside is also very good, you can taste the soup. z
