Unstoppable and unforgettable 10 minutes life time experience and fun-filled moments. After about four months of ESL teaching in Jiange before I realized that such a beautiful and monumental place exist.
Jianmen Pass is a mountain pass located southwest of the city of Guangyuan in Sichuan province.
It's located in Jiange County which is a few distance from my apartment.
It's famous for the beauty of its steep slopes and it's strategic importance in ancient times.
As the traditional Chinese saying goes, "If one man guards the pass, ten thousand are unable to get through".
I had real fun with couple of friends at different outings.

Jianmenguan is indeed a difficult path through Shu
In the vast landscape of China, there is a place that has been extolled by literati throughout the ages for its extraordinary beauty—Jianmenguan. Here, it is not only a living fossil of the Three Kingdoms period but also a perfect blend of nature and culture, making it a tourist hotspot.
Attraction Introduction: Jianmen is the most dangerous pass in the world, where one man guards and ten thousand cannot open
Jianmenguan, located in Jiange County, Guangyuan City, Sichuan Province, is the most treacherous section of the Shu Road and has always been a strategic military location. From the top of the pass, one can look out at the peaks that resemble swords and the swirling mists, almost hearing the sounds of ancient battlefields. Not-to-be-missed attractions include:
• Jianmenguan Tower: The reconstructed tower stands on the cliff, majestic and imposing, making it an excellent spot for photography.
• Glass Skywalk: A thrilling high-altitude experience with the abyss underfoot and magnificent landscapes ahead, for those brave enough to try.
• Liangshan Temple: A secluded ancient temple nestled deep in the forest, with incense wafting through, adding a touch of tranquility and Zen to the journey.
• Cuiyun Corridor: The ancient cypresses stand tall, this 'green corridor' has witnessed a thousand years of vicissitudes, walking through it, one feels the breath of nature and history.
Itinerary: Two-day in-depth tour to fully enjoy the charm of Jianmenguan

• Noon: Taste the special lunch in Jianmen ancient town, such as tofu feast, and experience Jianmen on the tip of the tongue.
• Afternoon: Visit Jianmenguan Tower and the Glass Skywalk, experiencing the difficulty of the Shu Road.
• Evening: Stay at a characteristic homestay at the foot of the mountain, enjoying the tranquility of the mountains.
Day 2:
• Morning: Head to Liangshan Temple to experience Buddhist culture, then stroll through Cuiyun Corridor, listening to the stories told by ancient trees.
• Afternoon: Join a hiking adventure led by a local guide to explore more hidden beauty.
• Evening: Return to Chengdu, concluding a fulfilling trip to Jianmenguan.
Gourmet Strategy: The taste of Jianmen, a culinary delight not to be missed
• Jianmen Tofu: A must-try, with a variety of types, from the homely Mapo tofu to the innovative tofu feast, each bite is a supreme temptation for the taste buds.
• Handmade Noodle Skin: Handcrafted with a chewy texture, served with a special sauce, simple yet unforgettable.
Transportation Strategy:
• External Transportation: Convenient high-speed train from Chengdu to Guangyuan, with direct bus service to Jianmenguan from Guangyuan station.
• Internal Transportation: It is recommended to walk or take an eco-friendly sightseeing car within the scenic area, as some attractions are far apart, so plan your physical strength accordingly.
On this land sculpted by historical winds, every step is taken with a story. Jianmenguan is not just a travel destination but also a spiritual cleansing, a conversation with the ancients across time and space.

Jianmen Shudao National Park Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Zhuge Liang and Li Bai did not deceive me
【Tickets】Adults 100, half price 50 for ages 6-18 and 60-65, insurance for 10 yuan for those over 65, free for those who can recite 'The Road to Shu is Hard'.
【Experience】Before coming, be sure to prepare for some climbing. I don't oppose taking the No. 1 and No. 2 cable cars up and down the mountain, but the essence of the scenery is underfoot. To visit the Guanlou, you must walk there. Some places really require using hands and feet, so it's best to bring gloves. Remember, 'One man guards the pass, ten thousand are unable to get through', and also remember 'The Road to Shu is Hard, harder than climbing to the sky', this is not just talk. On the seventh day of the National Day holiday, October 5, 2023, it rained, and suddenly there were a lot fewer tourists. It's slippery in the rain, the zip line is definitely closed, the electric carts are definitely closed, and I guess the Bird Path and the Monkey Path are also closed. The cable car is uncertain, because I didn't go that way.
【Routes】
1. Depart from the South Gate
1.1. Purpose: To see Guanlou + experience a bit of danger, Route: South Gate, Guanlou, Xianyun Inn, Persimmon Tree Flat, Cliff Corridor, One Line Sky, then return along the same path.

Guangyuan·Jianmen Shu Road|Li Bai didn't brag, the Shu road is really difficult!
🏯Jianmen Pass, as an important pass on the ancient Shu road, combines the natural scenery of majestic, dangerous, strange, and beautiful in one, Li Bai sighed its 'one man guards the pass, ten thousand are unable to open'... The terrain is steep, the mountains are clear and the water is beautiful, the scenery is pleasant , especially the cliffs and deep valleys, which are breathtaking...👍.
🏯Main attractions:
Guantower, Bird Road/Monkey Road, Glass Viewing Platform, Sky Ladder Gorge, Stone Bamboo Peak, One Line Sky, High-altitude Zip Line, Geological Museum, etc.
❤Recommended reasons:
🐒The Shu road is difficult, more difficult than reaching the sky, how difficult it is, you can deeply understand the 'Yellow Crane's flight is still unable to pass, monkeys want to cross but worry about climbing' said by Li Bai when you walk this road yourself .
🧗A small path that can only be walked sideways by people is carved out of a cliff that is vertically five hundred meters high from the ground. The narrowest place is only 15 centimeters, and the widest place is no more than 30 centimeters. Standing on it and looking down, you can feel the trembling of your heart and legs.
🧚🏻♂️Recommended route:
(Choose the north-to-south 🍃 route, which is relatively easy)
North Gate-Cableway-Bird Road-Fairy Bridge-Liangshan Temple-Liangshan Pavilion-Stone Bamboo Peak-One Line Sky🐒.

3️⃣Bird Road and Monkey Road, the road is narrow and steep, the top is high and unattainable, there is a deep abyss under your feet, tourists must slowly move up with both hands holding the iron chain. It is not recommended for friends with poor physical strength and symptoms of acrophobia.
4️⃣Monkey Road ticket is 68 yuan, buy tickets on the spot, sign and draw, you need to sign a disclaimer, if something happens, you will not pursue any responsibility, after all, there may be safety risks.

Super authentic Yi New Year in Southern Sichuan | Attached 3-day tour guide
After 33 trips to Western Sichuan,
I found another place in Southern Sichuan that I can't bear to share.
Not only did we find the original and niche natural scenery here,
but also coincided with the traditional Yi New Year, and had the most unique New Year~
.
👇Share our super niche 3-day tour guide with you~
.
✅3-day 2-night itinerary
▪️Day 1
Arrive in Leshan for lunch➡️Go to Kasha Vacation Area➡️Learn Yi embroidery and play New Year games➡️Sunset barbecue bonfire
▪️Day 2
Get up early for sunrise and sea of clouds➡️Yi costume experience➡️Yangtianwo hiking camping tea➡️Return to Kasha in the evening
▪️Day 3
Sleep until naturally wake up➡️Visit Yi village to feel the atmosphere of Yi New Year➡️Return
.
1⃣️Kasha Rural Resort
📍2 hours drive from Leshan
🚗Suggest self-driving or contact in advance for pick-up and drop-off
🔖We stayed in the tree house for two nights here, and really didn't want to leave on the last day, a comfortable and authentic unique experience!
🛏️In addition to the tree house, there are also courtyards suitable for family or friends gatherings.
🈶️Although it is in the mountains far away from the city, there are various local activities and experiences here, which are really suitable for vacation.
📅Now in November, it happens to be the Yi New Year, and the homestay has activities such as bonfires and blessings, which can be freely participated in.
.
2⃣️Yi ethnic experience
The lunar October happens to be the Yi New Year, which is a traditional festival in the Xiaoliangshan area.
✔️Kill the New Year's pig, eat the pig rice
✔️Make small year cakes, bake buckwheat pancakes
✔️Smoked bacon, make sausages, bend pig's feet
🧨This is also our first time to participate in the festival of ethnic minorities, very lively! Fresh and fun! We also changed into Yi costumes, feeling super ceremonial, and took hundreds of photos!
.
3⃣️Yangtianwo
📍Navigate to "Dazhubao Township"
🔖Super niche alpine pasture, there are alpine grasslands and herds of cattle and sheep here.
✔️You can bring your own equipment for camping, and the feeling of contracting a whole mountain forest is really unique!
⚠️But the environment here is primitive, if you don't have rich outdoor experience, it is recommended to leave before dark.
.
👇Other tips
❶There are only 4 tree houses, so be sure to book early!
❷But the small courtyard includes dinner and afternoon tea; the tree house only has breakfast, and you can go to the restaurant in the resort for meals.
❸Yangtianwo can't be found on the map, you can ask for directions after arriving at Dazhubao Township, the road conditions are complicated, it is recommended to go with others.
❹If you come in other seasons, there will be more outdoor activities, such as digging bamboo shoots, picking, etc.
❺Before you leave, remember to bring back the Yi New Year's bacon~~

Move into the dream love court, live the ideal life
I've been longing for a long time, and finally arrived by car on a weekend. After staying in the city for a long time, there is always a heart that wants to live in the countryside.
I want to take the children to feel the insects and birds in nature, and the green mountains.
There is a courtyard in the mountains, with transparent large floor-to-ceiling windows. When you open the window and push the door, there are mountains and wind. This is probably my ideal life.
Everything I dream of is here.
Elegant original wooden furniture, white decoration, a large front yard, and a green view of rolling hills.
I can't help but sigh how comfortable it would be to live for a year and a half.
This has become one of my favorite places this year, it is called "Kashasha", which means "thank you" in Yi language. See you next time

Ancient Shu Road before Qin Dynasty Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
An old street, on both sides of the street are some old buildings or some distressed buildings. Unlike other ancient streets, most of the facades of this street are closed, and it is not noisy here.
Except we only have local old people left, our appearance seems to disturb the tranquility here, but it seems to bring a little vitality to this too quiet old street.
Local grandmother, in such a good weather, holding a bench and basking in the sun to peas. After asking for consent, a group of people took this set of photos. But somehow, I saw the word loneliness in this photo.
This is a residence in the Qing Dynasty. It has been more than 100 years old and we are fortunate to be able to visit it. The wooden structure of the house is simple and quaint. This is actually very suitable for photos, so I have a few photos here.
After finishing the tour, I am ready to return, and the street has returned to tranquility. At this time, I quickly took a single photo. We came and went, the streets were lively and quiet, and this day, every day, its the same, and its been a few decades.

Walking on the ancient road covered by pines and cypresses, the simple sturdy horse-studded piles, the bluestone roads covered with traces, and the ancient buildings carrying history... The mountains and rivers of the roads are steep and beautiful, and they are amazing and lingering.
Early the next morning, we set foot on the road to the ancient road. The journey takes about one and a half hours, and there are some mountain roads that are slightly bumpy. From the city of Guangyuan, the air is getting fresher and fresher, and the mountains and vegetation are everywhere.
refers to the road that crosses the Bashan Mountain in the Qinling Mountains and connects the 800-year-old Qinchuan and Tianfu countries.
This section of the road stretching in the mountains, a bluestone road hidden in the trees, in the thousands of years ago, how many merchants transport goods from here, how many people from here to Sichuan.
, representing the technical essence of the ancient road construction project in China, is a complete road system, and is one of the earliest large-scale traffic remains of mankind that has been preserved to this day. Its history is longer than that of the ancient Roman road.

The Golden Ox Trail's horse-blocking walls have traversed a thousand years of time!
Ancient cypresses that have stood for a millennium, massive boulders underfoot, and the faint sound of horse hooves by your ear, step onto the ancient Shu path from before the Qin dynasty, and enter a tunnel through time that spans history.
➡ Golden Ox Trail's horse-blocking walls:
The Golden Ox Trail was akin to the ancient Sichuan-Shaanxi expressway, except instead of cars, it was horses that traveled on it.
The horse-blocking walls served as guardrails on the curves of the expressway, warning the horses to slow down to prevent them from falling off the cliffs.
▶ Located in Jiange County, Guangyuan, direct navigation to the Golden Ox Trail's horse-blocking walls is possible, a 3.5-hour drive from Chengdu, free of charge
▶ Hiking suggestion: Start from the parking lot (10 yuan per car parking fee), a light hike of 2.2 kilometers to Qingliang Village,
the endpoint is Qingliang Bridge, a round trip of 4.5 kilometers. The path is mostly flat and easy. If you have plenty of time and good physical strength, you can also walk to Puan Town.
➡ Cuiyun Corridor:
Located in Jiange County, Guangyuan, the entrance ticket🎫 is ¥40 per person, just like the horse-blocking walls, it is also a part of the ancient Shu path Golden Ox Trail.
The cypress trees are even older and taller, said to have been planted by Zhang Fei and his subordinates during the Three Kingdoms period, but the artistic conception and historical sense are not as strong as the horse-blocking walls.
Jiange local food: Free-range chicken and tofu are specialties here.
