Mt. Shiude Observation Deck 紫雲出山山頂展望台 Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in May)
Is there a more enchanting cherry blossom viewing spot in Japan than Shiyun Out Mountain?
🌸 In Mitoyo City, Kagawa Prefecture, Shiyun Out Mountain offers a breathtaking view of the Seto Inland Sea. During the cherry blossom season, the dreamy scenery of cherry blossoms and the Seto Inland Sea is like a fairyland! Besides the cherry blossom season, the Hydrangea Road in early summer also presents a dazzling display of blooming hydrangeas~
📷 Photo tips: The third observation deck is most suitable for portrait shots; no matter which mode of transportation you take to the mountain, the parking lot has a time limit, so hurry up and take pictures! This note's photo was taken on March 31, 2023, the day when the cherry blossoms were in full bloom. The cherry blossom season at Shiyun Out Mountain this year is from March 23 to April 10.
🚌 Transportation: During the cherry blossom season, there are buses and taxis available to the top of Shiyun Mountain, which require advance reservation. For details, please see the last image; if driving, you need to reserve a parking spot at the mountain top in advance (reservations opened on March 4).
Japanese Cherry Blossoms·Solo Travel·An Opportunity to Rediscover Yourself
Have you been overwhelmed by the trivialities of life? Or perhaps you find yourself at a crossroads, in need of a flash of inspiration? There's a saying that goes: Rest is for the sake of embarking on a longer journey. What you need is to relax, to give yourself a chance to breathe a different kind of air. If circumstances permit, go on a trip! If you can travel abroad, being in an unfamiliar environment might lead to unexpected encounters, and it's best to go alone, without too many opinions swaying you. Not only will you feel at ease, but you'll also have the chance to find yourself during the journey.
...
The Shikoku region of Japan might be a great recommendation, especially during the cherry blossom season. The cherry blossom viewing spots in Shikoku are not only less crowded and comfortable but may also bring joy to your body and soul. If you're feeling down or are at a low point in your life, I think it's also very suitable to go out on your own.
...
For cherry blossom viewing in Shikoku, I recommend Shiunzan in Kagawa Prefecture. Ascending to the summit via the scenic Shikoku Nature Trail, you can take in the beautiful views of the Seto Inland Sea. To the east, you can see layers of floating islands shrouded in mist, while to the west, you can gaze far into the Chugoku region, tranquil alongside the glittering sea where sky meets water. Nearby, a peninsula meanders into the Seto Inland Sea, forming captivating curves. Such a healing vista is imprinted in the heart, unforgettable for a lifetime.
...
At the summit, there's an exhibition area of a Yayoi period hilltop settlement, recreating the pit dwellings of prehistoric times, and displaying pottery and stone tools from two thousand years ago. Inside the museum, there's a quaint and elegant tea-tasting space for resting. Sitting by the window, you can leisurely savor Japanese red bean rice cake soup or Western-style chiffon cake while overlooking the unbeatable sea view of the Seto Inland Sea, relishing the unforgettable moments of tranquility.
...
Shiunzan is also considered a romantic mountain of fate by the locals, with a legend that the bond between men and women is like two seashells; in the world, there is only one pair that fits perfectly. Finding the only two matching seashells will bring happiness. Therefore, many couples also write their wishes on 'bonding shells' and hang them on the 'Tree of Happiness'.
...
Of course, besides Shiunzan, there are many other worthwhile cherry blossom spots in the Shikoku region, and everyone is welcome to share updates at any time! Actually, the reason for recommending solo travel is not only to force oneself to rest and divert attention but mainly because of the change of environment. In today's busy cities, with thick concrete walls, high-pressure jobs, and trivial matters, it's really hard for us to feel good.
...
So when you feel that your career is at a standstill, or life is not going smoothly, let yourself go out and walk around! You'll find that there are actually many more things you can do! I highly recommend that everyone should try traveling abroad on their own, and Japan is a great place to go.

6tips for traveling in Japan in AUTUMN
Are you traveling to Japan for the first time? Here are six travel tips that I have organized for you. Click here to check them out. 😊
1. 💱 Currency Exchange: In Japan, many businesses only accept Japanese yen, so it's best to exchange some money into yen before your departure. You can do this at the airport, banks, or hotel front desks. However, it's advisable not to exchange too much at the airport or hotels, as the exchange rates may not be very favorable.
2. 🚅 Purchase JR Pass: If you plan to travel to multiple cities in Japan, buying a JR Pass is a good option. The JR Pass allows you to ride trains operated by JR Railway Company nationwide, including high-speed trains, and the price is cheaper compared to buying individual tickets.
3. 🚇 Taking the Subway: Japan's subway system is highly developed but can be complex. Before taking the subway, it's best to check maps and routes in advance to avoid getting lost.
4. 🙏 Observe Etiquette: Japanese people place a strong emphasis on etiquette, so it's important to be mindful of your behavior in public places. For example, avoid being loud or rowdy on the subway or train, refrain from eating while walking on the streets, and avoid taking photos indiscriminately.
5. 🍴 Dining: Japan has a rich food culture, but there are also certain things to be mindful of. For example, before a meal, it's customary to use a hot towel to clean your hands, avoid pointing at others with chopsticks, and refrain from blowing on your food to cool it down.
6. 👔 Dressing: Japanese people pay attention to dressing appropriately, so it's best to dress modestly when traveling to Japan. For example, when visiting temples or shrines, it's recommended to wear long pants and long-sleeved shirts and avoid wearing sandals or flip-flops.

Kyoto's "Spirited Away"
Gion, situated in Kyoto, Japan, is a captivating district that effortlessly blends tradition with modernity. Renowned as the city's historic geisha district, Gion is characterized by narrow cobbled streets, wooden machiya houses, and traditional tea houses. The iconic Hanamikoji Street is lined with preserved machiya structures, creating an enchanting atmosphere that transports visitors to Japan's past. Gion not only preserves the artistry of geisha entertainment but also offers a glimpse into authentic Japanese culture through its tea ceremonies, traditional arts, and seasonal festivals. Amidst the historic charm, modern elements like upscale boutiques and fine dining establishments add a contemporary flair. Visitors to Gion witness the enduring grace of geiko and maiko performers, creating a timeless ambiance that showcases Kyoto's commitment to preserving its cultural legacy.

In the blink of an eye, it's the annual cherry blossom season again 🌸 Based on my personal experience of cherry blossom viewing over the years, I recommend 5⃣️ cherry blossom viewing spots to everyone ✨ They should be the best of the best 👍
🖼️Picture 1⃣️: Haradani-en near Kinkaku-ji Temple in Kyoto.
This is a place that is only open during cherry blossom season every year. There are various types of cherry blossom trees planted in the garden, and when they are in full bloom during cherry blossom season, the sky here turns pink and cherry blossom petals float in the air. Sitting under a cherry blossom tree and enjoying a special cherry blossom bento box is a unique moment for the people of Kyoto to appreciate the cherry blossoms.
Transportation: Take Kyoto City Bus M1 and get off at the front of Haratani Agricultural Cooperative.
Tickets: Prices vary depending on the blooming situation, with adult tickets starting at 1200 Japanese yen and children's tickets starting at 500 Japanese yen (blooming from late March to early April 🌸).
Image 2⃣️: Kasumigaike Park near Osaka Castle.
Take the Nansha tram to Jingang Station (take the express), get off and walk for about 10 minutes, then you can arrive. Walk along the pool, there is a row of fully blooming cherry blossoms, and then you can walk to a cherry blossom tunnel, which is very suitable for taking pictures. On the way back by tram, there is a row of cherry blossoms along one side of the track, which is very beautiful‼️
Cost, free park (blooming from late March to early April 🌸)
📷3️⃣️ Purple clouds over the mountains of Seto Inland Sea.
Ziyun Mountain was selected by Yahoo as one of the top 15 cherry blossom viewing spots in Japan. In January 2019, the islands of the Seto Inland Sea were ranked 7th on The New York Times' list of 52 places to go in 2019, with Ziyun Mountain as the main attraction.
The most attractive charm of Ziyun Mountain is the beautiful backdrop of the Seto Inland Sea with its many islands, combined with flowers blooming in different seasons, such as the pink cherry blossoms that cover the mountains in spring, the daffodils on the slopes, and the huge hydrangeas in summer. Although it is not the season for flowers in autumn and winter, the clear air and the unique beauty of the Seto Inland Sea, which is as calm as an ink painting, and the small islands dotted on the sea surface, bring travelers a different charming experience‼️
📷4️⃣️ Takarazuka's cherry blossom viewing spot, Shuraku-en
This time, we will introduce the "Cherry Blossom Tunnel" on the Takarazuka cherry blossom viewing walking route.
This is a walking route from the Minami-Bunka station in Takarazuka, located in a quiet residential area called Jorakuso, where there are few people even during the cherry blossom season. 👌
On both sides of the road are cherry blossom trees, and during the season of cherry blossom blooming, it's like a cherry blossom tunnel! Get off at Hankyu Dentetsu Imazu Line Takarazuka Minami-guchi Station and walk for about 12 minutes ‼️
📷5⃣️The ruins of Fujiwara Palace in Nara
The only place in the Kansai region where you can enjoy both rapeseed flowers and cherry blossoms at the same time 🌸 is located in Kashihara City, Nara. It is divided into different areas, each planting plants that bloom according to the season, such as rapeseed flowers in spring, lotus flowers in summer, and chrysanthemums in autumn...etc. The most recommended view is the combination of rapeseed flowers and cherry blossoms‼️
Transportation: About a 30-minute walk from JR "Ubobo" station.
A fantasy cherry blossom paradise where pink waterfalls cascade down

Immersed in it, one can feel as if bathing in cherry blossoms, a true haven on earth. When the flowers bloom, even the air seems to turn pink, creating a rare dreamy place. Haradani-en has various types of cherry blossoms, such as Higan weeping cherry, Omuro cherry, and Oshima cherry, among which the red weeping cherry is the most prominent, giving Haradani-en an elegant touch of pink everywhere, adding a unique Japanese subtlety compared to the usual cherry blossoms. The garden also features competing plum and crabapple blossoms, making Haradani-en brimming with the spirit of spring during the season.
